Just a random assortment of vero posts from Zack

Is it me, or in that ARD session pic, it says the conversation between Diana and Bruce happens 2 hours into the movie. Couldn't be right? That would make the Snyder cut like 8 hours long lol

one can only hope...

I really don't see the problem with that line; the candidness and awkwardness of it seems perfectly natural for the situation presented between the characters (i.e: lovers reunited after a tragic departure).

I don't see the issue either. Anyone that's been in a long term relationship knows that you do learn your significant other's smell. It's something very distinct, and something you miss when they aren't around. It's the same reason alot of people like to keep an unwashed pillow or a shirt their significant other has worn around. It's a pheromone thing I think.

That is correct: pheromones. If I'm not mistaken, smell is the very first thing we recognize in our partners in close proximity, which makes sense considering that's the primary way how our bodies send messages to each other.

Is there any specific portion that stood out as something that relates to the anti-life equation? If so can you give a timestamp? (So we don't have to listen to a 2 hour podcast)

He starts talking about the Knightmare sequence about 14.00, and at 15.40 they start talking about Darkseid.
16.02 "Maybe he exists, out in the universe somewhere, he's looking for something, something that's against life.

"How Joss put the finishing touches to Justice League"

my sentiments exactly.

i love MoS.
i feel the BvS:UE is a legit good movie.
it's the theatrical cut that i think is crap.

but i also get why many people don't like snyder's films.
he is really has a niche style. it's not really meant for mass audience consumption.

that's not the audience's fault. snyder just wasn't the right fit for directing a mainstream cbm universe.

i liked his take though. i like many movies my friends think are crap though. haha
Reading this thread and decided to quote this post , as an example. So what you are saying is that the people who don’t like snyder’s Abominations are part of the “mass audience’ while the few diehard fans of his are what , serious cinephiles ? Talk about living in an imaginary world , let me guess every critic who hates snyder’s “films” (and trust me European critics hate them way more than Americans) is also a mainstream viewer who can’t grasp snyder’s genius ?

That's not what he said at all. He said that Snyder makes niche films, which means that they please just a small(ish) part of the audience. He didn't say that his films are some misunderstood masterpieces, just that they're quite niche and therefore won't appeal to the mass audience.

Wow dude. Boy did you completely misread that guy's post. He literally said Snyder makes NICHE films not tailored towards mainstream audiences. I mean, that's pretty much a given and a common agreed consensus, I thought. Mass audiences would not like the tone and subject matter in his films nor his style of direction. Period. Its true.

Nowhere in the guy's post did he insult the intelligence of people who don't like his movies. He literally said that he loves the films and understands why others dont and "its not the audience's fault" which is stance I take as well. I love Snyder's films as this alternate, darker, more artsy take on DC material but can completely understand how this doesn't have the appeal to masses or even some DC fans who were probably taken aback by his characterizations.

I think a lot of people who like Zack Snyder's work get unfairly labeled as fanatics who worship him when we simply, you know, enjoy the guy's work. I guess people who hate the guy so much just cannot comprehend how anyone could possibly like his movies.

People always look and see the Snyder Jesus pictures and think those people who post then are serious. When really it's just a joke. Much like when Dog Lips used to have the Michael Bay appreciation thread where he used to post the same kind of pictures of Bay as some of the Snyder fans do now.

I think there's a bit of a misconception at play here. BvS was dark, yes. But it was meant to be The Empire Strikes back of these movies. It wasn't meant to be the status quo. Man of Steel was a pretty accessible movie. Big bombastic action, evil bad guy, hero rescues the girl and kisses her when the day is saved, "You're a monster Zod, and I'm going to stop you", Superman's big triumphant moment where he rises up and destroys the world engine, Jenny being saved right at the last second, classic hero's journey. All very standard traditional blockbuster stuff. It wasn't niche, intellectual or tailored to a specific audience only. It wasn't some eccentric alternate take on the source material.

I think, because it left such a mark, people conflate BvS with everything Zack did and was going to do in the DC universe. It's merely the dark, existential, political middle chapter in a trilogy. He wasn't going to make Superman look like this 24/7:

I think you're right, Gothambat. BvS struck such a raw nerve that i think it maybe tainted Man Of Steel for a people who liked or were okay with that movie. I've heard a good amount of people say "I liked MoS but hated Bvs" or others say "I was okay with Man of Steel, I thought it was a good launchpad for something special in the next film but BvS ruined it." Heck, I've said this many times but I myself did not like BvS on my first watch. That movie really left me in a discombobulated state when I walked out the theater. It didn't hate it, but was VERY disappointed and polarized by some of Snyder's creative choices. It wasn't until I watched the Ultimate Edition and hearing Snyder talk about the films that it clicked with me what he was trying to do and his grand 3-4 movie arc plan and i became fully onboard with it.
