Affleck, despite what some think about his acting ability has given many solid performances over the years, like in The Town, Argo, Gone Girl, The Accountant and in recent movie The Way Back.

I would add BvS to that list. So, yeah his performance in BvS was one of the good things about the movie.

Totally agreed, while BvS is a mixed bag for me Affleck was great in that film. But I think it’s clear it was after that film even prior to filming JL he’d checked out.

Yeah. I think it ended up being a perfect storm. The AT&T acquisition, HBO MAX, the fanbase.

I figure if they can patch things up with Zack then there's a chance they can patch things up with Henry too. I'm not automatically assuming it but anything seems possible now.
The COVID-19 pandemic is also one of the reasons why JL:SC may get released. I mean, the HBO Max needs more content that will add subscribers but because of ongoing pandemic situation they are unable to shoot many of the "promised" shows, which has resulted in them looking at the unreleased content that's sitting around.
So, the perfect storm is The AT&T acquisition, HBO MAX, the fanbase and Corona pandemic.

So do you guys expect there to be a small backlash if no (official) announcement is made on Wednesday, let alone by the end of the week?

with the momentum building and what appears to be confirmation from even the biggest of skeptics, I'd say there will some disappointment if theres no announcement of some sort, especially if nothing comes from that Man of Steel rewatch like some are guessing.

This is the week.

I imagine at the very least Snyder will talk about how his Superman is yet to rise. I think it’s no coincidence that he did BVS the MOS and not the other way around.

I think that Affleck and Gal tweeting #RTSC was an indication that something was happening BTS. A private screening for Execs happened in Feb.

I resisted commenting on that earlier but I agree. They are hardly at the same point in their career. Ben has gone through this whole media frenzy, movie backlash etc. Henry has had one breakout role, two if you count Fallout. Let’s talk when he’s had several big movies under his belt.

Where the two were at in their respective careers or in their personal life had nothing to do with how one carried themselves during those moments. Calling Cavill greedy is funny givin how Affleck was probably making double and the headliner of BvS. Doesn't change the fact that Cavill carried those times and had spoken highly of the Superman character every chance he got and gets. Call that unpassionate or greedy if you will but that doesn't change how one carried themselves in crucial times. It just doesn't. I stand by how I feel about Cavill in that regard. I know fans here have turned on him but I haven't. But I digress. I'm tired of pissing matches. We're on the verge of something special brewing.

Someone asked Zack what his plans were for Supergirl and he said "that is a complicated answer for another time:cwink:"

That's strange he wouldn't answer that fan theory givin that's all he's been doing.

The fan also asked about the open pod in MoS being Supergirl and he said "I don't think it was Supergirl. We can get to her in another way that was left in plain sight".

Is it crazy to think WB would consider giving Zack another Superman film?

Yes.

I personally think it's a minor miracle if this is done and I don't think it negates that WB has spent the most money on films he directed and they haven't performed what WB expected them to do.

But are we already moving past the release of his cut to "They should let WB direct another DC movie again." I think that ship has long sailed.

I also don't think there's much of a chance Snyder comes back for new movies. This alternate cut I think saw new life cause of the pandemic, personally. Streamers need new content constantly, but everything shut down. Which means exclusive shows have been delayed. That creates a void. WB has this alternate cut just sitting there collecting dust, Zack clearly wants to let people see the movie as he envisioned it, and is a project that can be completed mostly remotely and way quicker. It makes sense in this current environment to do this.

But like Erz said, BvS disappointed the studio. Which led to the messy production Justice League was. They're not going to invest 200-300 million on more Snyder movies, especially when the DCEU has moved on at this point. This will basically end the Snyder era of DC films. The 5 film arc is never going to be completed, and Superman will go another direction (even if Cavill returns in the role).

I think the people interested in the movie should be happy that they're even maybe doing this at all.

I'm prepared for the rumor to turn out to be a bunch of nothing though.
Same here. No use in getting hyped up for a disappointing payoff again.

And if I'm proven wrong, then it'll be the most glad I'll ever be to be mistaken.

It's an interesting topic to keep an eye on. I think the DC "Black" label or whatever they call it could open up newfound possibilities. Never say never. It's highly unlikley but if he can be placed in a certain sub category, Zack still got a distinct style to his films that the studio kind of relish's on. I know it's a longshot (even dead water). Just an interesting lense to think what-if.

Well the person who said that seems to have a hate in for Cavill.

There’s no chance mate, he won’t be on another Superman film. Genuinely the only way I see him on anything involving Superman is if say a decade from now WB decide to do a direct adaption of something like Kingdom Come or The Dark Knight Returns, that’s only way I ever see him getting to play in the DC wheelhouse again never mind just Superman. WBs know that Snyder’s Superman didn’t connect with general audiences so there’s no way they’d ever go back there.

I think Snyder’s JL is just that, I don’t think it’s gonna lead to him been on more DC films. I do think he’ll direct something for WB again one day and as I said only way he does a DC Gil is if it’s some sort I’d direct adaptation or something obscure.

Misslane hasn't really liked Cavill much since his MeToo comments a long while back.

I’m aware, it’s ok she feels that way it’s her choice. Personally I think certain people overreacted to those comments but I think that’s the modern world.

MOS was apparently a disappointment because it didn't make the studio a billion dollars like what was promised. Pres. Jeff Robinov said the movie would be the highest grossing ever, he ended up being fired 3 weeks after MOS' premiere

‘Man of Steel’: Warner Bros sets bar high most expensive Superman film – Variety

Then the BvS fiasco happened and then Pres. Greg Silverman got fired. The infamous Justice League production happened next then Johns & Berg were demoted/fired. Seems like every time Zack releases a DC Film, someone ends up getting fired or there's a exec change lol.

While I totally agree with you.

I do wonder what hypothetically could happen if people react well to a more positive Superman in Snyder's JL once it's released.

Ain't gonna happen for a 200-300 million project. Yeah, they made Joker, but that was a cheaper film. The proposed Justice League sequels no doubt would have cost more than even Justice League already did. There's no financial justification. Only possible way I could see the sequels being made would be as comic books. But that'd be it.

MOS was the 3rd most expensive CBM produced at the time of it's release behind only TDKR @ $250M and TASM at $230M. Avengers was 4th at $220M.
