You put it much better than I did.

Unrelated, but I keep seeing it suggested here that the SC wouldn’t bring in a big audience. It’s literally the only blockbuster style film that can be released right now. And everyone is at home. This thing will get a ton of eyes on it.

I think you’re overestimating it. It will get plenty of eyes sure but those eyes will be fans, general audiences outside of a minority are not even really gonna care because to them it’s just an alternate version of JL. I highly doubt much of the general audience will even be bothered. They’ll likely see the posters and just assume it’s JL anyway.

The film in order to get sequels needs to make plenty of $$$$ and it’s not been put into a position to allow it to really do that. Sure they might get a ton of subscribers to HBO Max but that won’t all be attributed to the SC.

HBO Max has put A LOT of money into rights to show Friends, BBT, South Park, Doctor Who, Fox Movies, etc. As of May 27, it's hook is to be this extensive movie, show library with some new exclusive shows but nothing to cater to the geek community.

To put $20M into the Snyder Cut to get people to subscribe is being very fiscally responsible especially if it's not WB fronting the bill.

But to imagine $500M for JL2 & 3, specifically for HBO Max doesn't make sense. Which is why all these Studios are holding on to their big blockbusters because they know it won't recoup the same revenue at least right now being released on digital as opposed to a theatrical release.

That’s my point really, no matter what they make they’re not gonna make enough to justify spending $200-300 million on sequels. One day maybe you’d get a series, think like the Watchmen series set in the future or something. But that’s a big maybe.

I still say at best animated sequels or comic books are the sequels that are most likely.

For now I think Snyder fans should just be happy that it looks like the cut is coming. But what’s that old saying give them an inch and they’ll take a mile?

Man I can’t believe you’re even discussing a sequel. I’d love it but it’s so unlikely. An animated sequel would be KILLER though. Bring back the original cast and do it like Zack’s Guardians

I’m not really focused on sequels. My point is that this brings a lot of value to HBO Max. While every other studio is resisting releasing their big blockbusters digitally, WB has one in the back pocket that is tailor-made for streaming. This will for sure bring in subscribers.

It will get plenty of views but will it bring in subscribers? Not many - it’s a single movie, not a show. Most of the Snyder Cut peeps who wouldn’t have otherwise paid for HBO are just gonna get the free trial, watch it a few times and cancel, if they don’t outright pirate it. That’s the thing with putting a movie directly on streaming - there are instantly perfect, easily-pirated HD copies out there. They’re not gonna pay $15 a month just for a single movie. And most of the GA can’t be bothered. So it would be foolish to spend too much money on finishing it, imo, or even entertain the notion of sequels. But it’s a good thing to have in their pocket if it’s basically already done, and certainly won’t hurt in promoting the service, as we know how loud the Snyder Cut crowd can be online. That’s some major free advertising.

It's why so many people cancelled their Disney+ after the last episode of Mandalorian aired.

A truly successful streaming service will have either or combo of a huge library, or constant shows that will force streamers to hold on to their subscription year round.

Nail on the head here. The streaming model just hasn't figured out how to make the money that these large scale productions make in the theater. I'm sure as the landscape changes over time, this may get figured out. Eventually. Someday. But that day certainly is not now or anytime soon. Spending 500 mil on finishing sequels to a movie that lost money just makes no sense.

I suppose HBO Max team may break it in two parts... which may explain why they would allow Snyder to shoot some scenes, add some scenes that wouldn't cost much.

Yeah it's why WW and Black Widow have been pushed back and haven't been dropped on streaming. There's still a higher number to be made in the theaters vs. streaming.

When a Studio has figured out how to make a movie, bypass the theaters and make the same amount of money, they'll jump at it.

Would not be surprised at all if this happened. His cut is already long as hell lol.

Well before we start talking about sequels or how it will be presented, let's just get an announcement first. The thing hasn't even been officially confirmed and people are already partying as though they had won the war.

Hey everyone. Long time.

I'm honestly lost for words here. For us fans of Snyder's work in the DCEU, the culmination of his first two movies was taken away from us. The first proper live action Justice League movie was taken from us. We were told Snyder's vision for this movie, didnt even exist. That it was bad. That its over. That we will never see it. That we should move on. That our voice doesnt count. That no one really wants to see this movie, and it didnt matter anymore.

Something we have waited for years. History is being written. Its finally here. Redemption.

I'm so excited to finally see the sequel for BvS. I dont care for any future installments, because Snyder has basically revealed the plot for that. I think most of us just wanted the movie we were promised. And we will finally get that. And Snyder seems to be making tweaks to make it more inline with his OG vision(black suit, additional photography etc). I'm most excited for the Batman and Superman scenes, and also the original visual look and score. Also Greenlantern(shout out to my boi Kal), Martian Manhunter and ofc, Darkseid.

Also shoutout to the haterz(Ben Fritz wassup fam) who dissed the Snyder Cut movement:

I said before that the SnyderCut of Justice League has a marketing campaign that took on a life of its own that the original cut could ever dream of. Justice League was DOA and the marketing couldn't do much to hype it up givin the black eye the studio was going through with its DC films.

That all has changed now. As someone said before, strike while the iron is on fire because it's white hot. It's been a 3 year buildup that hit maximum effort. Nows the time. It's almost like it's now or "nevah" (Alfred voice).

@idiot09 my man im so happy to see you post again. I swear i was thinking of tagging you in a post this morning to get your attention. I remember chattin with you when that first “come together” trailer dropped and we were geekin out over how badass the movie looked.

I’m still keeping myself in check until i see the official headline but it seems like we’re finally getting it.

Man, i love Jason Mamoa, he just posted a video on IG that I cant post due to language but basically shouting “RELEASE THE F***ING SNYDER CUT BABY!”

Haha I saw that. Was cool to see Mark Twight in there showing support too.

In even greater news though, this mofo @idiot09 has made his return!! My oh my it’s good to hear from you buddy.
