Zack Snyder to Direct Guardians
Source: Variety
April 14, 2008

Zack Snyder (300, upcoming Watchmen) is set to direct Guardians of Ga'Hoole, an animated feature film based on the series of children's books by Kathryn Lasky.

Village Roadshow is making the film and Warner Bros. will distribute.

The film is set in the Forest of Tyto, where Barn Owls live in peace until their kingdom is threatened by an evil that could destroy their home.

The script was written by John Orloff (A Mighty Heart) and John Collee (Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World). The pic will be produced by Zareh Nalbandian, with Donald DeLine, Deborah Snyder and Lionel Wigram executive producing.

The intention is to execute in Sydney, Australia, through Animal Logic, which worked with Village Roadshow and WB on Happy Feet. The film is on a fast track and is likely to be ready by 2009 or 2010.

Didn't expect Snyder to make a film like this.

Snyder seems to have alot projects going on at once.

Hmm, didn't Synder say that he doesn't like to do films that aren't rated R?

R-rated children's animated fantasy movie? I'm there. (yea yea, of course it'll be PG/PG-13)

It might have been talking about adapting material that is obviously R rated caliber to fit a PG-13 rating

I've read the first and second novel. For some odd reason, anyway. They aren't bad. :o

Sounds cute. I kind of wish it wasn't cgi though...come on, bring back some quality 2D!

I love owls, I hope they beat some ass.

Hnnh. After WATCHMEN you'd expect...I don't know...MAUS or something. :)

Ga'Hoole won't be his film after Watchmen.

He has Cobalt 60, Last Photo, Army of Darkness...

Yeah it's Army of the Dead, Snyder Is also set to direct The Illustrated Man.

The way she mentions HF in the interview kind of makes me think she hasn't actually seen the film - it's very similar to "Watership Down" in tone. Although, again - they could actually be going for that "Harry Potter" approach, in which case, I'll pass.

Hugh Jackman and Hugo Weaving?
Wolverine and Megatron?
In a movie directed by Mister 300?

OH *****!! THIS IS GONNA BE EPIC!!!
Now only John Nolan needs to write the script

Heh, I can just imagine, an owl swinging it's wing at another one but in slow motion. Blood comes out of it's mouth but in slow motion.

Damn, I want Snyder to do TDKR.
