The Dark Knight Rises Zack Snynder interested in The Dark Knight Returns

Oh, goodie, I'd love to see that........ after Nolan makes BB3.

if nolan says no to batman 3 then i would love this to happen but if batman 3 doesnt come out from nolan then they couldnt put this in the continuity of nolans series as it wouldnt explain how batman [blackout]became the hero again[/blackout]

maybe they could do it in the opening credits like the new hulk movie.

read the article, it says that maybe wb should release this film in addition to the ongoing franchise, so it doesn´t depend on nolans return and it should not be promoted as a sequel.

actually this would be a great idea. right now wb tries to copy the marvel strategy (make some really good solo movies which are set in the same universe and maybe bring them together at some point i.e. with an avengers movie).

but dc would fail, because:

1. people would notice that it´s just a rip off of the marvel strategy
2. dc heroes (exept superman and batman) are not really well known (notice that i did not say: are not as good as the marvel heroes).
3. an avengers movie would rock, a jla movie would suck. can´t really explain why, it is just a feeling. maybe the jla members don´t fit together as well as the avengers.

so maybe for wb it would be a really clever to take the characters people like (i.e. batman) and like in the comic book world make some "one-shots" just like grafic novels which have nothing to do with the ongoing series.

that would mean more batman flicks per year :yay:
wouldn´t it be great if we could watch for example zack snyders the dark knight returns while we are waiting for the tdk sequel?

btw, actually i think zack could do it, but he would need some good casting and a great sfx crew!

If they try to put this movie into production, obviously people are gonna think it's a sequel.. I mean. look at the name.. "the dark knight returns"

I rather have Nolan's Batman 3 first.

These points make no sense to me.

The Flash, Green Lantern and Aquaman are just as if not more popular and well known that Captain America, Hawkeye, Ant-Man and the Wasp. If you walked down the street and asked any random person at least 40% would know who you were talking about when you mentioned the DC characters.

And the JLA works well together whenever they're written by competent writers, DC has been at the team-book decades longer than Marvel has. If a good writer who knows how to team dynamics (like Steven Sodernbergh) is in charge of the script and they can properly connect it with everything that came before it'll work.

I dont want a Dark Knight Returns movie. DKR was an interesting kind of "what-if" story of Batman's end, but it's not where I want Nolan's franchise to go, or where I even want the comic book Batman to go.

And even if they did do it, there's no way they'd be able to do it now. It wouldn't really fit, storywise, after The Dark Knight. It would take at least one more movie to make DKR thematically appropriate.

I'd rather see Nolan's adaptation of DKR. He's a much more talented director than Snyder.

That would be awesome, but for Batman 4,I want Nolan to make Batman 3.

Awesome Batman 4, but I want one more Nolan film (preferably with the Riddler).

At least with Snyder, I know it will be done shot for shot :woot:

If Watchmen is good then I will be for this in a heartbeat.

I am skeptical still on Watchmen. Trailer was fantastic, but the news of them trying to cut the 3hr cut down even more for the theatrical run has me worried. I also am waiting to see if the ending is in tact or not (if they change it, Watchmen fails to me).

Ooh I really dislike Zack Snyder. He is very overrated. But I did have my doubts about the Watchmen until the trailer came out and it pleasantly surprised me. I'm not fully convinced yet though.. Why not have Frank Miller himself direct The Dark Knight Returns?

Oh and I wouldn't like it to be part of Nolan's films. Just make it a stand-alone film.

For DKR I think Quentin Tarantino would do a sweet job directing.

Could you imagine?:wow:

It'll be glammed-up trash.

His movies are good as demo material for your HDTV, and nothing else.

If watchmen is great, then I'm all for it. This is ofcourse after Nolan's Batman 3.

This is a dumb idea. First of all DKR will not work in a film today AT ALL. So much of it is based on the Cold War and the period of the mid 80's - you don't want to screw with viewers heads by giving them a "future batman set in 1985". And if you take out Cold War it's not DKR anymore, it's just an "old man Batman" story. In that case you may as well do Batman Beyond, it has an expanded scope. Or just mix them together. Do Return of the Joker with added flashbacks about the history of the three Robins, mutant gangs, battle VS Superman. Whatever it is it won't be DKR; it will DKR influenced.

Second, Watchmen (and Snyder himself :whatever:) will have already covered the same ground by now. Superheroes coming out of retirement in a world riven by war. We'll have already seen the Snyder treatment of superheroes. But is Watchmen gonna be that great we want him on Batman too? Please. I don't care how great Watchmen, is I'd rather move on than put two properties with one director. Get some variety. There's a hundred great directors out there.

nolan booted the franchise and he should end it .... thats all i got to say

Zack Snyder shouldnt touch this franchise. 300 was entertaining but it would be an entirely wrong style for these films.
