Deadpool 2 Zazie Beets officially cast as Domino in Deadpool 2

I don't see how pointing out other characters who's looks were changed and people largely approved of, relates to Domino. Different people like different characters, it's all subjective. But in this case it's safe to say more people know and like Domino than Vanessa and NTW. So more people are gonna be vocal about her.

Honestly the whole black actress vs white actress argument is getting tired. As far as i can tell in this thread at least, no one said anything about disliking her look because the actress is black.

I doubt people are asking for an 100% accurate adaptation of the look. Mystique with the scales, Nightcrawler with the markings, Toad with the greenish frog like skin... Those are changes that improved the characters' look especially in live action.

This isn't the case with Domino. It looks like they held back and just made her sexy.

hahahahaahaaha! What!?!?!?....You're hilarious. Mystique's look is hideous compared to the comic. Even if it was accurate, its still ugly as hell. They didn't improve her look in the slightest, they actually did the opposite on purpose. Its not even a debate. hahaha! You kill me man.

Even the scars on Nightcrawler are debatable. Ya they were a cool idea and ya they looked good on actor Alan Cumming but on Kodi's face they actually make his face look more ridiculous than it already is. This guy could've played Toad without the makeup. I think they failed to improve his look overall, especially his costume. They made him dress up like a homeless man living on the streets of Toronto in both movies that he was featured, no less! haha!

She looks sexier than her comic counterpart and she doesn't look like some knockoff characters featured in other movies like the comic does, which is a huge plus. Its a large improvement in every way. Even the manip shows that she would've looked like petey the dog in Little Rascals if they stayed accurate to the comic. hahahaha! Its a stupid look period.

except she stands out with a visually striking and unique appearance

Not really. You wouldn't notice her eyepatch standing in the background. Sure you'd notice someone with an afro maybe, but there's nothing about the leathet outfit that would significantly diffetentiate her from the other Morlocks.

Montreal not Toronto. And it's been 1 movie so far, not 2.

Never been to Montreal, Been to Toronto plenty.
You must not have seen X-Men Apocalypse which is the characters second appearance in the franchise. I don't blame you, it was garbage but I know what I'm talking about.

In the future, If you don't know what you're talking about then don't ever attempt to correct me and we'll get along fine. haha!

People don't really like black people its simple as that.

No. People dont like black people play white characters. Specially whitiest bleached character ever in comics likely. There is a difference. And I am pretty sure black people wouldnt love or like for black characters to be played by white people...

This is my last on that topic. World isnt that racist as much as some would love it to be. That's why I dislike this forced fake equality by Hollywood when them themselves are racists as ***.

By your logic, almost no one in the original X-men trilogy would stand out. Domino's hair, eye and white mark are visually striking and standout from those other characters. That and she's beautiful. My eyes would be drawn to her

Noone did stand out in Singer's X-films lol (apart from blue characters I guess :woot:)

Speak for yourself, most prople in the real world won't care that Zazie is playing Domino. And of course there will be anger if a white actor plays black characters. Simply because of the historical lack of representation facing black people left them with a very limited pool of black characters to play in mainstream media. One is not like the other.

And domino isn't a "white character". There is nothing that makes her being white an essential trait. She isn't an aging Scottish fisherman seeing his industry dwindle.

Thats ridiculous. She is white. This movie version isnt but the character she is based off of, most definitely is

Uh... that's exactly what makes this casting okay. Domino is so white than not even a white actress could play her without make-up, so who cares if the actress they picked is black? The real problem is not Zazie's skin color, is the fact that it's not hidden under the appropriate make-up.

Clearly you don't read comment sections. Which is a good policy, but you miss out the sexism and racism that permeates geekdom.

Yikes. Your final sentence reads very weirdly when recited.

But those aren't the real racists and sexists. The people giving women and minorities more chances are the reelz racists, and sexists.

Not that I really want to or really care but I'd argue that her character is actually of Asian descent and not Caucasian. Especially with an Alias like Samantha Wu. The best depictions of her are when she looks more Asian.
She could be mixed doh and I wouldn't argue that statement.

I think the people complaining for the most part, at least here, agree Zazzie is gorgeous and are fine with the casting but are unhappy with the creative choices made.

Even if you want to argue that she's Asian, that's still closer to the white spectrum than the black she was cast as in this film. It's still comic inaccurate to her look

I don't hate this look but to me its too reminiscent of Kate Beckinsale in Underworld. I much prefer the look that was chosen. Its a look of her own and its pretty iconic in a non traditional way. Especially for a superhero movie.

Oh no doubt. I just have a problem with hypocrites who think they know what they're talking about cuz her race would effect her character if her race is the issue for some of these people.

The look they went with is simply a genuine improvement and better way to go my eyes. I don't want see a Domino thats gonna make think like she belongs to a different movie. For me its just a better look.

The way she looks in the comics was never that appealing.

My main point of posting that manip was the visual from the neck up. To show that they didn't have to paint her face chalk white to make the look FAR more comic accurate. That they didn't have to shy away from the fact that she's African American by painting her skin white. That the people who don't like the look are not just complaining because she's African American. Because no one in this thread has, despite a few people who are pretending that's what's happening here.

But, yeah, while the manip isn't perfect either, the face, hair and costume is better and far, far more comic accurate IMO.

I definitely got that, and I do appreciate the visual but I was just explaining why I think what they actually did was better than doing this despite its accuracy. Its basically cuz it's boring and something I've seen before. IMO of course.
