Zoe Kravitz IS Catwoman

Didn’t either Justin Kroll or Borys Kit say that the other two runner ups were Zazie Beetz (before Atlanta scheduling got in the way) and Eiza Gonzalez?
And Alicia Vikander.

In recent weeks, the role came down to Kravitz, Zazie Beetz of “Atlanta,” “Deadpool 2” and “Joker,” “Baby Driver’s” Eiza Gonzalez and Oscar winner Alicia Vikander. Ultimately, Kravitz won out, despite some worry about scheduling issues with “Fantastic Beasts.”

If we get the goggle Catwoman look, I hope they give her a mask like this under neath them and not just the open face we've had for the longest time.

While the ears are huge, this shows what I'm trying to say:

Probably why she won the role. It sucks that Ana was on the final shortlist because she's a superior actress than Zoe from what I've seen. Still, Zoe is my second choice, so everything is still good.
Doesn't seem like she made it out of the first round. About time for her fans to accept she probably wasn't right for Reeves version of the character.

Chemistry matters most though, and as we saw from pairing Hathaway and Bale who are both tremendous talents by themselves — chemistry was the glaring weak point of that dynamic.
I don't that's really the case, in both of those. I don't think chemistry should be deciding factor in certain things and don't see their chemistry as particularly weak. Not flawless, and not the same as Pheifer and Keaton's takes, but not particularly weak enough to really be glaring. Then again I'd also argue the movie isn't about their romance so I don't it's a big issue, if I did think there was strong chemistry deficiencies.

Bale’s whole character arc ends on that romance. Giving up Batman for “the one” is a significant jump for the character, and for it to be effective their coupling has to be something special. I personally didn’t buy it, so that romance and conclusion left much to be desired.

He wasn't giving up Batman for her. He wanted to let go of Batman and let Gotham save itself from it's struggles. That's what he saw happening with Dent but then we all know how that turned out.

Anne was great as Selina. Her romance with Wayne wasn't the focal point of the film. Yes, they end up running off together but what came before that was two characters who, as Batman said about her but could be applied to himself and the Batman persona "the ground is shrinking beneath her feet." and wants a way out of it. While Bruce's goal wasn't to run away from Batman, the role was destroying him and he knew he couldn't last much longer and had to reignite hope somehow and he did and so he felt like he could fake his death and leave and live a happy life with someone who was in a similar situation.

Indeed. I'll add that it was mostly on Bale (by way of Nolan's direction), as he appeared to have the same problem with virtually all of Bruce's love interests, M. Gyllenhaal and Holmes' Rachel Dawes included. With Hathaway, there was at least some chemistry between him and Selina; the masquerade ball and the archery scene where they first meet are standouts in my opinion.

I love Bale, but he never has romantic chemistry with people, imo. He almost had it with Amy Adams in American Hustle. Almost, lol.

I thought he had some with Katie, which is why I wanted her to be in TDK even though I acknowledge she's a weaker actress than Maggie.

The movie or Bruce doesn't call her the one. His character arc may end on it, but his story isn't about that in the movie. I think it's about moving forward past being Batman and Selina is apart of the destination, but romance isn't the point of the story:

I mostly think similarly.

Won't lie, the other actresses who tested were much more exciting choices but it seems like Reeves had Zoe in mind, from the start. Wait and see at this point.

He did with Winona Ryder in Little Women way back in 1994. But he acts way more lighthearted in that movie than anything else I've ever seen him in, so maybe it was before the brooding solemnity set in.

Maybe that's Bale's secret twin brother from The Prestige

I'd agree. I've always thought however, the lack of chemistry between him and Gyllenhaal was appropriate given that her character was in love with Dent and had made up her mind about him.

Kravitz is certainly an interesting choice. Haven’t seen her perform much but the cast for this film looks really unique and exciting. I hope Reeves really hits it out of the park on this

That's the thing; her mind wasn't made up. She was torn. It was only until Bruce allowed Harvey to take the fall for him--at Alfred's behest--that she opted to choose Dent. For her, that was essentially the last straw; she was now convinced that Batman's crusade would always come before anything else, including their relationship.

"TDK Rachel never had feelings for Bruce and was committed to Harvey the entire time" is one of the most popular misconceptions of the entire trilogy.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen the movie, but didn’t they (Bruce and Rachel) share a kiss?
