Zoe Kravitz IS Catwoman

Zoe's hair looks WAY better now, truly perfect for Selina

(also, this episode of Hot Wings was recorded this week, and will be on air tomorrow)

Zoe Kravitz on ‘High Fidelity,’ Playing Catwoman to Robert Pattinson’s ‘Batman’

Switching focus to “The Batman,” DC films come with their own unique brand of pressure. Is that something you’re nervous about?

Definitely, I was excited when I got the role, and usually when you get a job the people who are excited about it are you, your parents, your agent, your friends and that’s kind of it. But when the press release came, I got more text messages and calls than I’ve gotten on my birthday, on my wedding day. All of a sudden, the reality began to sink in about what this means not only to me, but to everybody else culturally — and the fans of this universe are so dedicated and opinionated.

You could certainly say that.

It was a little scary, but also whenever I get nervous about something, I feel it pushes me to a better place anyway, so I welcome the nerves. If you start focusing too much on what people are going to think you’re doing yourself a disservice, it’s almost like you’re putting your energy in the wrong place. Of course, I want to honor the fans and hope they like what I do with the role, but in order to do what I think I need to do with Catwoman I have to go internal and forget about the rest of the world.

How do you feel about Robert Pattinson as Batman? What has it been like working with him so far?

I’ve never worked with him before, but we’ve been together for the last few weeks, I had to camera test with him and now we’ve been training together and rehearsing together and he’s just a delightful person and such a wonderful, thoughtful actor. I think he’s perfect for the role and it’s going to be such an adventure. I’m excited to have him as my partner in crime and to be there to support each other, because it’s intense. It’s going to be a long shoot and there’s a lot of pressure, and I know he has my back and I have his.

I wonder how long the shoot will be. It sounds like she has a huge role. Definitely not just a few scenes where Batman visits her for info. She’s gotta be linked to Carmine in this.

Not necessarily. Hathaway had a big role in TDKR and nothing to do with Falcone.

I almost had a heart attack when I saw the thread bump. I thought we got a suit reveal too :lmao:

She wasn’t in the same movie as Falcone.

I know, but it was a universe where Falcone was a thing. I'm just saying, just because she and Falcone are in the same universe and she has a big role doesn't automatically mean they're incorporating the daughter thing.

I'm conflicted. That's, if anything, even less of a disguise than what she wears in the movie, and the loose hair still bugs me for how impractical it is in a fight.....but she also looks pretty hot.

And at a crime scene.

Hathaway is pretty. I don’t think she’s sexy though. She tries to be but I’m not sure if it works. But I can see why she won the role over the others that auditioned. She’s no Zoe though.

It would definitely be interesting to see if Reeves and co. want to be the first to really exploit the idea of Selina as Falcone’s forgotten and cast aside daughter.

Even Jeph Loeb didn’t really do much with it, and he was the one who proposed the idea.

You could have some fun playing with the idea of Selina being quietly bitter and having a chip on her shoulder from knowing she could have been raised as a princess of Gotham’s biggest crime family, and instead wound up having to scrape and scrounge to survive.

And honestly, I always thought the Queenpin idea from Batman Eternal would have had more bite to it if she built her criminal empire by stealing and taking the Falcone’s business for herself, rather than inheriting it from her new father, Leo Calabrese.

Not to say that I want full Queenpin Catwoman... but I wouldn’t mind Selina constructing her own more ambivalent kingdom in the East End for this series: like she takes over Falcone’s fencing operations and illegal casino joints in the East End, and makes it a safe haven for the poor and downtrodden who the system won’t support. Let her go full Robin Hood to make her and Batman’s relationship more complicated, with her clearly being the least of all fo Gotham's evils, even if she still makes a hefty profit off Gotham’s vices, since she also defends it as a hero.

The look they went with in the film is better than that screentest look.

Selina's best look and it was nott in the movie, a shame. The messy hair makes more sense, considering what she does at night.
Considering what she does at night, messy long hair doesn’t make any sense whatsoever. Selina should be making sure not a single strand of hair is left at a crime scene. That’s why her impractical design from the hair to the heels doesn’t add up.
