Zoe Kravitz IS Catwoman

Some people probably want more distinct Catwoman look (cowl and all that stuff), but I'm frankly in love with this one. No 10-inch heels, no impossible tights or costume that will leave evidence all over the place. And on aesthetic level she's still very much recognizable. I won't be disappointed if that's her only "on the job" look in the movie. It works. Zoey feels like a natural fit for the role too. And they gave her a really cool fighting style. Capoeira elements look animalistic.

They can always leave some costume progression for a sequel or something like that.

I hate it when they put Catwoman in stupidly high heels. It's f'n stupid! She's an agile, athletic cat burglar. She is able to jump and run around rooftops and cause Batman to give chase. I've never liked her costumes, comics or movies, having "f-me heels" or stilettos. It's dumb!

It absolutely doesn't look even remotely convincing in gritty settings. It's gorgeous, but in something like TDKR you really need to suspend your disbelief HARD.

Glad I saw the teaser before reading any descriptions. On paper, I'm pretty sure I'd have hated it.

But it all works here thanks to Reeve's world building. It's a makeshift mask, barely even one. But you can see the early traces of the traditional Catwoman mask. With Reeves stating how everyone is their embryonic stages of getting to their iconic selves, I'm completely on board with waiting it out for the long term.

QFT.

I get it. Catwoman is a sex symbol. She's a prototypical femme fatale. "F-me" heels or pumps make her look sexy, more of a femme fatale, more alluring and dangerous. But they aren't practical when she's supposed to be in the thick of it in the action.

Like at least with Batman's cape, writers have figured out practical uses for it in terms of fighting. Batman can glide with it, or even creatively use it against enemies. It doesn't have to be a liability.

With all the name checking of Chinatown, Selina being Falcone's daughter seems more likely than ever!

Kravitz is such an awesome get for this role and I'm really liking what I'm seeing so far and yeah the heels never made much sense to me either. She already looks very agile and swift even in this basic costume and I'm more than intrigued to see how she evolves over the span of the Reeve's trilogy.

I'd be OK with that, if she was like an illegitimate daughter, making her a bit of a black sheep in the family or a dirty secret everyone wants to keep hidden.

I really like what I see here. The shoes aren’t high heels (but they have a bit of a heel). The suit clearly looks like it’s heading towards a Darwyn Cooke look. I’m excited to see where it goes.

I’m underwhelmed. I mean if Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman can make a whole damn costume from just a leather jacket without all the bells and whistles, then they could’ve given Zoe a better one too.
Pfeiffer’ s Catwoman is one of my favorite characters EVER, but come on. Two very different films here. The Burton films and universe is a lot more stylized and over the top.
This is clearly a more “realistic” approach, for lack of a better word.
Plus, who’s to say she doesn’t get a better suit throughout the film? I’m sure there are plans in place already to continue with this story, so we will undoubtably be seeing more of her.

The only necessity for me in terms of costume upgrades is the mask, I have zero doubt that she'll eventually get a new mask at some point.

Yeah, the suit is really nice and gives me Darwyn Cooke vibes. I just want a cowl to go with it by the third act.

Yeah that post was before I found out this is pre-Catwoman. And the more I watch the trailer the more it’s growing on me... kinda.

Guys that isnt catwomans suit. Its 100% pre catwoman and probably the first time batman meets her. She will have the costume by the end I think

Ah okay. Honestly, I do understand. I’m usually annoyed when they do the whole ‘this is the early version of (insert character)’. Kind of like what they did in the BOP movie. I really liked that movie but was annoyed they didn’t get costumes until the last moments of the film. It bugs me because a sequel isn’t always guaranteed.
with this though, I don’t see that being an issue, so I’m excited to see her journey towards becoming Catwoman.

Yeah. Reeves very clearly stated that this film is essentially the origin for Batman’s rogues, so I think the look she sports is less “here’s Catwoman’s finalized look” and more “here’s something to tip the audience off about where she’s going”.

Yeah, I get she's supposed to be sexy, and sex appeal is a big part of her character, but some artists take her costume way too far.

Her costume is skin tight to the point where she looks like she's wearing body paint. No material perfectly contours the body like that. But this has forever been the problem with Catwoman, is her sex appeal really empowering, or is it just titillation for the reader?

Seeing no comments on Zoey in the trailer. Am I the only one enjoying the take on her? Love how they gave her biker/burglar aesthetic, which is really practical, yet added a bit of cat visuals to the ski mask/balaclava, which is still practical. She can put glasses, equipment or motorcycle helmet on it. It's just so cool. Really works for this stripped down version of Batworld. She apparently has a whip as well. Year One seems to be a big inspiration here. And I'm glad it is.

Zoey sports it all really well and looks naturally fierce.

Honestly, I would even be fine with this catsuit, with only a slightly more refined mask, as Zoe's final look for the trilogy. Given that Selina is a thief, with a bit of a rougher background (depending on her backstory), I honestly prefer a Catwoman costume that looks rougher around the edges and homemade. I rather disliked Hathaway's costume. It was too clean and high tech.

Here, the bodysuit is perfect. It is alluring and feminine, while being functional and not pure eye candy. It evokes Darwyn Cooke and I love the belt and backpack. Same with the boots. They have a bit of a higher platform/cuban heel, for some added femininity, while still being practical. The way Zoe is able to move in it and be animalistic is far more important to me. I love how she actually looks and moves like a cornered cat in the shot above when Bats corners her. :atp:

Well , to be frank, bodypaint, contour following costumes are not limited to Selina Kyle, or femme fatale characters, or females.
But those heels are quite laughable for a burglar who gets in quite a lot of fights haha

Even if this isn't the real Catwoman mask, I just don't like how it looks here.

I like the look she gives Batman. It's not flirty or menacing. It's more "ugh, really?".

I feel that the costume is fine neck down. The goggles are a malignant tumor though.

I mean, just why does she need a goggle to "resemble" cat ears? She exists in a world of jokers and batman. No one would blame her for wearing cat ears or a cowl.
