20th Century Fox’s Deadpool 2 is breaking more advance-ticket sales records. Fandango now is reporting that Deadpool 2 is already pacing to be the top R-rated preseller in its 18-year history, outstripping 2015’s Fifty Shades of Grey. That’s big, considering that Fandango covers sales for more than 30K screens across the country.

In a recent Fandango survey of over 4,500 moviegoers, Deadpool 2 was the second-most anticipated summer blockbuster of 2018. Reynolds topped the list of the most anticipated summer movie stars, while Beetz’s portrayal of Domino came in as the most anticipated breakout female performance.

This is the first we’re hearing about Deadpool 2 advance ticket sales and in their first 24-hours they’ve broken records for CineWorld’s Regal Cinemas. Within 4 hours of going on sale, Deadpool 2 had already doubled the previous 24-hour bench mark that Regal had. Also the Marvel sequel broke the record for the previous R-rated movie sold on Regal’s website, New Line’s It.

We’re hearing that advance sales are huge overall with Cinemark even besting Regal’s sales by at least 50%.

Looks like people are excited for the film, but A3 will be in full steam still by the time DP2 comes out.

I wouldn't underestimate the popularity of the original movie. This is gonna surprise lots of people in how it'll handle itself against Avengers and Solo at the box office.

I think it performs well. I see Deadpool damaging Solo more than Solo damaging Deadpool tbh.

Avengers will still be doing okay, but not too the point of being damaging to Deadpool.

At this point, I have no idea how Solo will go. Current long range seems to be it opening at $150, which seems a bit high, to me.

But, on the other hand, I am not expecting the break out the first Deadpool film had with this one.

20th Century Fox has their CinemaCon panel this morning in Las Vegas and they received a nice gift before stepping on stage: Deadpool 2 arrived on tracking and indicates an opening that could reach $150M; at least $100M+ over three-days. These are industry estimates, not from Fox. The Marvel bawdy superhero is strong among males under 25, however, his scores are beating or are in sync with other superhero pics. In unaided awareness, which indicates how strong the buzz is among non-frequent moviegoers and a priceless stat on which studios buy their TV ads, Deadpool 2 has a 29 beating Logan (24, $88.4M), Suicide Squad (24, $133.6M), Deadpool (19, $132M) and coming in under Captain America: Civil War (32, $179M).

So we could have 2 big openers soon after huge openings with BP & IW.

where is the 'no' option on the poll?
we cant have a general perception if the poll isnt completed

Solo vs. Deadpool 2 will be interesting.

I was under the impression that whilst the budget was substantially bigger than the first deadpool it was still quite modest compared to most superhero flicks.

But man their marketing campaign mist of cost a fortune, new released tv spot with man utd, we don't come cheap either and David Beckham wouldnt of either.

Really got to ask whether this sort of stuff is worth it.

Well after the success of the first movie, there's no reason why they should be so thrifty for the sequel. They will probably earn their production budget in the opening weekend alone.

I shall call it first here....

although i liked this movie and had lots of fun, the legs on this will not be as good as the 1st film. So i expect it to get anything from a 2.3 to 2.5 multiplier from the OW.

It is just not that rewatchable IMO.

Like I've just said before, Solo will hit it HARD, along with the other summer movies of 2018.

But Solo is in the bigger franchise, unlike Deadpool who is in whatever franchise it is in Right now.

He's in the Deadpool franchise, hombre. Which made $783m worldwide with an R-rating and a $58m budget.

Clearly I should have mentioned you know the franchise in which the X-Men, New Mutants, Gambit and Wolverine films belong to.

Actually the star wars universe is in a little bit of trouble now... TLJ has pissed off tons of loyal fans and quite a few of them might not turn up for solo.

It still earned a lot of money and the general audience liked the movie. If it doesn't perform well, maybe they just aren't interested in a Solo prequel film.

Solo does seem to have worse reviews compared to DP2.... i think both of them will cannibalize each other.

Yep.
