🇬🇧 Discussion: UK Politics

I had heard about strike in the radio while I was on my way to work, but it was one of those things were you hear it & don't think too much of it. I didn't realise it was this bad, I thought it was one of those strike for a day here or there, but from what I've been now reading & seen in your link, it's an ongoing strike that has lasted weeks over significant paycuts by the Birmingham City Council.

Also read a couple of articles in papers that one of the MP's for the BCC angered his constituents badly because he reportedly spent last week campaigning for the British Government to pay to build an airport in another country. Keep in mind, this is all the while the actual city he was elected to represent looks, no pun, like a rubbish tip & he's one of several MP's that run BCC that really should be focusing on little else but trying to come to some form of agreement with the Union(s) to get the refuge collectors paid fairly & back to work.
This is a serious health problem that he should really be paying attention to. They had a strike like this in New York City and the rat population exploded. :( I certainly hope it gets resolved soon.

I'm honestly bewildered at the stupidity from that MP, I truly am & in this day & age it takes a lot for politicians to shock me with their stupidity.

I can definitely believe that, with the population difference between NYC & Birmingham I'm sure the problem was magnified a few times over. It doesn't take much poorly discarded rubbish to attract rats let alone the sort of volume you'd see in a city wide issue.

It did say in one of the subsequent articles I read after seeing your post that pests are already becoming a problem with pest controllers in the city already starting to get overstretched themselves.

Hopefully if the situation gets bad enough the residents will protest loudly on his front lawn and cause enough disturbance he will be forced to take action. I certainly don't see him getting elected for another term

I can't believe Trump will honor any deal he makes. He's as bad as Putin.
