LOL Djokovic v Thiem suspended again? That's twice now the weather rescues Djokovic while he's down.
These breaks might serve him (if he can come in fresh) against the younger Thiem

Djokovic for sure, he's the only baseliner I've ever seen that can dominate Nadal in groundstroke competition. He is capable of beating Rafa at RG.

Nadal will beat Thieme in three or four, was hoping for a Djok/Rafa rematch.

Looked for a sec like Thiem had found a way, and it could go either way, it's pretty impressive how freakin good Thiem is.
Although Nadal quickly took control back. So that's an incredible 12 at Roland Garros, it'll be a long time before that record is ever broken.

LOL people calling him Raging Bull (not hear), I like it, and get it, but there doesn't seam any rage in his character or style of play at all. Yes aggressive, powerful, will run after anything, but that's not rage, guy actually seems pretty methodical and controlled.
I can't remember him even doing a racket smash, let alone throwing a chair into the court (lol see Kyrgios).
Still cool name. :D

He's not French but if they haven't already they should name a court after him there.

I think Thiem could start dominating when he reaches his peak and the old guard retire.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Nadal’s record (which could still be extended) isn’t broken in my lifetime or even never broken. It’s close to 100% lol. The overall slams record can always go but this one is very focused and needs someone to start winning around 18 and keep winning it every year for nearly their whole career. Unless they find a way to make players age more slowly it will be very difficult for anyone to surpass it.

Thiem has a great shot as becoming the threat on clay, once Rafa retires. Cant believe i'm going to say this, but i just cant see anyone beating Nadal at RG if he remains healthy. His motivation is there!

I agree with you Mondragon: Rafa is very smart, methodical, hard working. He plays with a level of intensity that even when he loses, you can be sure he gave it his all. Only if he's injured can he look more helpless. But a healthy Nadal will always put up a fight. It's one of the reasons why admire him so much. He has so much perseverance, he can be relentless! As Thiem can tell you on that third set lol.

I can see someone *maybe* achieving winning a grandslam 12 times again, but not the French open lol.

He is a machine. I wonder what number he'll end up on, maybe 14. Surely within a few years Thiem will be too strong for him as he develops and Nadal ages.
 
Aaah Nick. So much talent, such a poor attitude.His antics get old. I never liked McEnroe much because of his on court behavior, so i dont like seeing it now either.

I probably don't watch enough doubles, yet this was a delight to see, although in a different venue now playing doubles, Murray back at it.
Also keep in mind Lopez his partner (and friend), had just played and won the singles final here, about a half hour before he had to play in this doubles game. So he won two finals back to back.same day.
Lopez ends day with two trophies, and Murray celebrates his return to tennis with a trophy.
Congrats to both!

Hope to see more of this Lopez/Murray duo.

Yeah, same here. I didn’t really like that McEnroe seemed to benefit from his terrible behaviour.

So day 1 of Wimbledon and we already have a few shocking results. Already out: Osaka, Alexander Zverev (actually, Mischa lost too!) and Tsisipas. Through today so far: Djokovic, Halep, Wawrinka, Pliskova, Kevin Anderson.

Let's see how the Wimbledon seeding controversy plays out again this year. Seems there's always drama because of their particular seeding. This time Nadal was the one that got the short end of the stick by getting seeded 3rd and Roger 2nd. Rafa's draw is a beast! Just to get to a potential semifinal with Federer, Nadal might have to go through Nick Kyrgios in the second round (oh boy!), two-time Wimbledon semifinalist Jo-Wilfried Tsonga or Canadian Denis Shapovalov in the third round, Marin Cilic in the fourth round and Dominic Thiem in the quarters.

Djokovic's draw opened up big time today, because he could have played No. 7 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarterfinals, but now he's out. The other quarter in the top half is headlined by No. 4 Kevin Anderson and No. 6 Alexander Zverev, who also lost today.

Federe's draw is by far the easiest one out of the big three. He could face No. 8 Kei Nishikori in the quarterfinals and and No. 9 John Isner.

Honestly, i'd be surprised if one of the big three doesnt win Wimbledon. I guess we'll see if we're in for more surprises.
