🏈 NFL - Game On

I love the tyron Taylor pick up good back up for Jones got to trust new regime

Man, what are they thinking over there? The Pats were known for having their personnel matters locked up, but, from an outside observer's perspective, it seems like they're slipping. There's a lot of early to mid 1st round interest in OL and they might have some fairly slim pickings at 21 as well as a lot of holes to fill on their line. Plus, they are going to need some WR help. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not overly impressed with their players there. Mac could turn out to be a pretty good QB, but, dayyummmm.....get the guy some help.
Roster mismanagement has been an issue here for the last few years. Really since about 2017 with the Jimmy G trade. It's a good line of demarcation. Just look at their drafts since then. They've been wretched. 2019 draft in particular continues to look worse with each year. The thing is most people didn't notice because Brady was still around and he covered up a lot of holes. It's why the 2020 team was god awful and they were so aggressive last year.
Patriots have not even replaced McDaniels and they trading away offensive lineman

Belechick is losing his mind ?
Yes. The problem is Bill has become increasingly lazy and his staff has become rampant with neoptism. His staff is filled with kids, kids of his friends, or people he thinks are indebted to him and he can trust. They aren't people who will challenge him and he can feel comfortable. The roster is the exact same way. It's why all their signings so far are just old players he knows and feels comfortable around.

And yet how was he able to get that no-talent team he inherited last year to perform as well as they did? Both Miami and Buffalo had much greater talent that the Pats, and yet the Pats completely overtook Miami and pushed Buffalo to the brink. I don't think BB is done just yet. (BTW for the record not a Pats fan).

I wouldn't say Bill has gotten lazy. By all accounts he is as invested in the team as he ever has. And though he has made some poor draft picks in recent years, like taking N'Keal Frikkin Harry over Deebo Samuel, last year's draft was terrific. Jones, Barmore and Stevenson all have great futures in this league, and I wouldn't be surprised if one or two of the young linebackers pops after the moves made in recent days.

But given the concerns with the roster and the coaching staff I could see the team experiencing a slight drop off this year. And they are quite a ways away from contending with the Bills.

They got swept by Miami, and they didn't force Buffalo to punt once in the last two games that they played. I also think that team talent wise wasn't that great, but vastly underachieved. They should've won more games than they did simply because of Bill's coaching, but there were times where his coaching cost them games.

I'm not gonna doubt his mind as a coach. He's still great at times. It's pretty common to say around here that Bill the GM constantly screws over Bill the coach. That just seems to continue to happen.

Gangrene (LOL) has made some pretty good moves in free agency. They've got some picks in the draft and if they do well, they could surprise some people next year. They aren't going to strike fear in the hearts of the Bills, but I could see them leaping over the Pats and Fish next year if things fall right. They've got some capital......

I'm a long time fan of Belechick since he was making his name being our defensive coordinator of course so seeing him making these moves is signs to me that he's on his way out the league

Well....Given that letter Baker posted last night it would seem he is gone regardless how the pursuit for Watson goes for the Browns (I am very uneasy about getting him from a moral standpoint....no doubt he is a football upgrade if that were to happen). But honestly, I say just try and get Jimmy G for a stop gap and look for a rookie this year or next. Jimmy G isn't a sexy option, but he has been on teams that made it far in the playoffs and at least he won't throw games away like Baker. May be exactly what the Browns would need given they are a run first team

reality is setting in at the Mayfield household that he's not getting top QB $ we will get decent $$ but forget the top level salaries that is not happening

Wasn't he DC for the Giants and Jets? I'm assuming you mean one or the other??? Certainly no self respecting NY sports fan would root for both.:p:cwink:

yes for th3 giants he calls his boat 8 rings 6 for pats and 2 with us

@Karelia

Raiders sign Chandler Jones to a 3 year 51M contract. They also traded Ngakoue for CB Rock Ya-Sin.

Jones and Ngakoue are both good pass rushers, but Jones is better in coverage. As I understand it, Indy is eating the dead money/cap hit this year of about 13M. Ya-Sin is expected to see a lot of action this year and will compete for a starting position. The Raiders basically were able to get Jones and Ya-Sin for Ngakoue. That's good work.

Rumors are that Davante Adams wants to play with Derek Carr, but that dude is going to want some MAJOR bank. If Christian Fing Kirk can get 84M over 4 years, what in the Fhell is Adams worth?!?!?!?

Oh wow. I mean I get it. He barely played last year. I'm still surprised though.

Jags release their top tackler, Myles Jack, who consistently has over 100 tackles per year. He's a terrific athlete who isn't going to be out of a job for long. He can help someone at LB.

I honestly am disappointed in the Jags and think they are behaving stupidly with some of these signings.

I didn't see too much of him last year, but he seems like he could still help someone.

Bengals lose TE Uzomah. He will be tricky to replace. Not the biggest TE in the world, but an excellent receiver with impressive speed for a big man. Now TE becomes one of the positions they also need to address.

Yeah. If healthy, he could have been a difference maker in the SB. Of course Higbee could have been also. I think their backup is Sample??? Wasn't real impressed with him and thought the Rams backup TE (Blanton ......and Hopkins for that matter) is/are a much more versatile weapon(s). There are some nice TEs in the draft that Cincy will have a shot at if they want to go in that direction.

EDIT: There's a TE in the draft that I think is going to be a pretty good pro. His name is Greg Dulcich out of UCLA (which is why I got to see a lot of him). He has good size (6'4" and goes 240+) and runs very, very well (4.6 in the 40). He also is an excellent route runner and has a knack for finding the open space on the field. He averaged about 17 yards per catch at TE (damn good at that position). He would probably be available late 2nd round or early 3rd round, but shouldn't last much longer than that. Cincinnati has done a good job in the off season and I think this guy would work really, really well with their receiving corp. That offense is going to scare the hell out of a lot of people next year.

I've never seen a team so luckless with QBs as the Browns (at least, since Bernie Kosar). First the Manziel debacle, now the Mayfield saga.

They're going to need a pretty powerful defense to hang in the division, so I like these moves. Adams seems like a far fetch, but who knows? I'm still not sure Carr is the QB moving forward. I'll believe it when he extends, but who knows. They still need a real number 1 reciever. Allen Robinson is the only top FA left that I know of.

It's called having a front office that is, to put it kindly, not as good as some others. They had so many damn high picks, I think a blind person could have done a similar job. Mayfield at #1.....SMH.

Josh Allen.......Lamar Jackson.....

Of course there was also Sam Darnold and Josh Rosen LOL.

Rams LB Vonn Miller to the Bills. Real arms race heating up between the AFC Heavyweights (Chargers, Bills).

Agree about Adams, but I guess him and Carr are ultra tight buddies. He has said he will not play under a franchise tag so who knows......I think they have about 25-30M in cap space so that tells me they are looking to make some moves. Carr to Indy??? They have a ton of cap space, but then who is the QB?

Jones and Crosby give you what you need. Maybe not quite Bosa and Mack, but I'm not sold on Bosa staying healthy.

Oh boy.......that's trouble......I wonder what the Rams next move is.......

EDIT: 6 years at 120M?!?!?!

That 3 year 51M to Jones by the Raiders is looking better and better.....

Von Miller to the Bills? Well, isn't it just wonderful that the Patriots have been absolutely hell bent on protecting their QB with an offensive line :o

Seriously, as if getting your ass absolutely destroyed on national television wasn't bad enough. It's not like you can stop Buffalo from scoring Bill. With no offensive staff and a super limited offensive roster, how the hell are you going to even score against them?

I'm predicting Buffalo sets a single game points record against the Patriots next year. It'll probably be in Foxboro too :whatever:

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

If I didn't know better, I'd say it sounds like you aren't very happy about these recent developments......

EDIT: I wonder how they structured this contract. The Bills had less than 10M in cap space. They'll probably back load it, but still have to make some roster moves. Man, if the Bills can win a SB, it'll be worth it (See Rams), but this is going to be an anchor around their neck. Miller has another year or 2, but after that.........
