🤛 Official UFC Thread - Part 8

That was er
Then why didn't Dana tell the police it was a work?

No this is fight sport. He is in the right sport. Was Cantona in the wrong sport after he flying kicked a fan? Of course not. Khabib should have enjoyed the whooping he put on Conor, because he humbled him. But tonight was a good example of when keeping it real goes wrong.
That was Eric's decision

I went 4-1 only missed Pettis. I am not mad Fergunson won though, picked Pettis because of the leg kick ability.

Glad Khabib won in dominating fashion. It was stupid to create a riot though, I expect very little punishment for him. This makes his name bigger and a higher demand, maybe GSP will now want to fight him. You know people will want to see his next fight.
Conor had the dolly incident and hurt other fighters with minimal punishment.
Jon Jones had legal issues and other issues and UFC gladly welcomes him back.

He didn't hurt him in the third imo. How would he avoid being grappled into his usual cardio problems? You saw how much energy Khabib had at the end. He beat Conor in every part of the game. He broke Conor down and made him tap.

Conor's only real shot against Khabib is hitting him early. Khabib's defense seems capable of avoiding that and then just working Conor.
I think he hurt him in the third, his face looked nervy for a couple of occassions. How does he avoud him? I'm not a fight coach, I've watched about a dozen UFC fights it my life and half of them were Brock and Punk lol. He needs to go in faster next time IMO, he thought he was going to tire of all that grappling that really didn't do much in the first two rounds, and the beat him as tired, that didn't work, so he has to go in faster with the strikers from the start, a lot more kicks as well, knot them thighs up.

I actually think he will be on the shelf for awhile. They will try and get the belt back on Conor, but Ferguson won't let that happen.

Derrick Lewis is a funny man haha.

Well Dana never meant that. He just had to act like he did. He does this every time something like that happens. He is smart, he realizes it will die down in a few months and he can bring back his thugs and cheats. He knows he needs Conor. But Conor is getting sued, so it was real.

Too be fair, it is all real to Khabib. He made it clear a long time ago. That is the thing. Some fighters aren't playing.
Yeah Khabib never jokes, he talks trash in the ring but he is serious. It isn't an excuse to do what he did but, he kept everything inside and mentally broke at the end.

Yeah, on second thought, I am kind of okay cool what Khabib did...

I think 6-8 months. ESPN eats this stuff up and would probably love to have him on a big card. Dana does not really care.

Becuase then Dana exposes what he's doing and all his little purist fanboys get upset, whatever the lawsuit payout is I am sure him and Conor can cover it without too much trouble.

It's an entertainment, take a look at how it went from the low rent bums fighting each other red headed stepchild that it was, to how it started to draw money with Shamrock and Ortiz, there's a reason Conor is such a huge draw, it's not just his fighting ability, it's his perosnality and his promos, same with Ronda, is Khabib doesn't realize it's entertainment as well as a sport, he needs to go back to wherever Dagstan is and stay there, fighting in pits or whatever.

Thing is, Conor's grappling defense looked better then ever tonight, and Khabib just handled him. Conor was cheating and still couldn't handle it. Conor is a counter fighter, so he needs his opponent to make the first move to start. He won't want to throw kicks with Khabib, because Khabib will grab his leg or just shoot after he times the kick. Honestly, Conor, especially with his gas tank, is kind of made for Khabib. Conor being so tough is even why he made it to 4.

I knew Connor was going to lose, but I wanted him to win. Connor is an *******, but Khabib hangs out w/human trash and dictators. Tonight he showed no class in victory.

I have been watching MMA since the early UFC. I was a Pride fanboy. I get fight sport. For a lot of those Eastern Europeans, in both boxing and MMA, it is all real. And when are saying someone this man loves was a terrorist on 9/11, yeah.

And while you may think these guys shouldn't be in fight sport, and I don't disagree, playing down Conor being a racist, homophobic piece of **** because it is selling a fight isn't okay either imo. If it is all okay, it is all okay in this scummy sport.

Yeah, on second thought, I am kind of okay cool what Khabib did...

:funny: Well firstly is it true? Also so what? It's a promo to hype the fight, it's Cornette 101, and how does what Conor said exuse him attacking a guy outside the ring who isn't Conor and then having two of his thugs back jump Conor after the fight like cowards?

It'll be hard for him I agree. but Conor is a warrior and has shown the ability to come back and get the job done like he did with Diaz, and it's not that I am a huge fan of Conor, like I saw I am not a big UFC fan, he's just the best hope right now of someone stopping this Khabib who needs putting down IMO.

This is exactly why he shouldn't have done it. Even as the victim you make yourself look like the villain and make the bad guy look like the victim. Whereas the victorious champion posting that tweet afterwards would have just made Conor look like the loser in the ring and show him up at the same time publically. Imagine Khabib jumps out and in the chaos someone's dad takes a fatal punch from someone else. It's difficult for an unbeaten champion who has just taken out an all time legend to make themselves look so bad and that's what he managed by doing it. And his criminal accomplice who just attacked someone on live TV has made it even worse for him.

Outside of the disgraceful aftermath, the contest was more competitive & tit for tat than I thought it would be. Conor defended the takedowns well & made the decision for Khabib to try to submit him, because when he tried to loosen his control on McGregor to throw something meaningful he quickly scrambled & he lost the position.. hence why McGregor didn't really get tagged & end up with a face like Barboza.

These 2 remind me so much of Couture/Liddell & much like that rivalry they could fight each other every month of the year & you'd get a different result in every fight.

Knowing mentality of certain Caucasian nationalities, it ended pretty much spot on.

UFC has been built on showman fighters, attractions, why do you think Brock got the fastrack? I don't care if these Eastern Europeans are hyper sensitive, if so then they should stay in Eastern Europe and let the grown ups fight in the UFC.

Wait, homophobic and racist? I didn't see that in the tweet, and it's just heat to promote the fight, it's words, it doesn't excuse two cowards back jumping Conor after he'd been in a brutal 4 round fight, and I am not excusing Conor, I think the idea was for him to be the heel here but Khabib is so unlikable in every way that the only way Conor was going to pull off being the heel was if the fight took place in Dagastan.

Dana White has just been on the post show doing his usual "I'm disgusted" routine but can hardly hide the rematch dollar signs in his eyes. Apparently three of Khabibs goons have been arrested.

How was Khabib unlikable? He doesn't really talk. Unless you are talking about his beliefs and out of octagon things which I don't care about with any fighter. Jon Jones is still my all time favorite, because what he does in the octagon.

Just because something is promo for a fight, doesn't mean it's okay to say what you like. It would be like saying everything Tump says is okay, because it is an election. I disagree completely. Also comparing it to pro wrestling is faulty for one main reason. Khabib clearly never agreed to this. In pro wrestling that is usually the case, and if someone doesn't, we have seen what has happened in the back.

Diaz fight was completely different and even then he was hanging on. If they fight again, Khabib might actually break Conor's arm.

What offense did Conor get in that suggest he can beat Khabib, who won every round of this fight, and even beat Conor standing?

Yes I am talking about who he is, his talking or lack thereof is irrelevant, it's just words to sell fights, that's the hype that makes Dana all his money, there wouldn't be nearly the interest without the heat on these fights, so I wouldn't care about whatever Khabib said, but I saw him and his thugs corner that guy from McGregor's camp at that hotel like nothing but a cheap street gang, and then I saw the same thuggish garbage tonight when two of his goons jumped Conor post match and Khabib acted like an animal jumping a trainer outside of the cage with zero regard for the safety of anyone else that could get caught up in his antics.

He has said homophobic and racist things in the past. Especially with Mayweather. People said it was okay because it was "fighting".

It was not heat to Khabib, which is what mattered here.

If Conor wants to walk around like a gangster, he really should be ready to mess with actual gangsters. But hey, if Conor does it, including assault, it's just to promote a fight? I can't agree Hunter.

By competing in the UFC and signing up to fight McGregor then he agreed to it, it's the game they are in, if he doesn't undersand it and is too senstive to handle it, then he should go back to Dagastan. Conor has done this with EVERYONE he has fought, including Mayweather who hangs with plenty of unsavory characters himself and nothing happened there, because him and Conor are pros, they understand the business they are in, and again, regardless of what Conor said that does not excuse jumping the cage to attack a trainer and also quite possibly hurt someone else out there who gets caught in the crossfire, nor does it excuse the two thugs from his camp that attacked a beaten up Conor from behind after the match, nothing excuses that kind of behaviour.

Diaz fight was completely different and even then he was hanging on. If they fight again, Khabib might actually break Conor's arm.
Well I am sure we'll find out my friend as Dana is likely already putting a deposit on another yacht with the money he's going to make from that rematch lol.
