Let's just say that Raimi grabbed you out of a crowd, asking you just one thing (*and only "one" thing*) you would have liked him to of changed for Spider-Man 3??
Although I have a number of gripes, here is my main one..
"KEEP ON THE MASK"!!!
There were times durring this film where I thought it should have been retitled, "Peter Parker 3".
Not once did we have a Spidey vs Goblin fight!
It was always Peter vs Harry. The mask itself never stayed on. Either it was being ripped apart, or Peter kept on yanking it off. I get the impression that Sony and company have little or no faith in the Spider-Man costume. Or maybe they feel ashamed of it. Either way I found it annoying and irritating. Between Spidey 2 and 3 it's a no wonder why everyone he knows isn't in constant danger (*or dead*). Peter's lack of comitment to protect his identity baffles me. Anyway, that's what I would choose to change. How about the rest of you?

Although I agree with your point on Peter being very lax about keeping his identity secret, I can understand why we never had a battle between Spidey and Goblin; it was a personal battle between old friends -- the aliases didn't matter.

I do believe that the reason they -- SONY, Raimi, whoever -- choose to have the mask removed all the time is to show emotion on the character's face. I'm not defending it . . . but it was either on one of the commentaries or an interview where I heard this reason for the previous film's de-masking.

And, go on then, I may as well answer your question: The one thing I would change is Venom's voice. I have no problem with the dulcet tones of Topher, but when coming out of a big black swamp-donkey with sharp teeth, I'm sorry but it just looked surreal and (as Harry Potter would say) rediculas.

There are so many but I am torn between 2:
one is how when MJ is in a cab dangling 80 stories in the air held hostage by 2dangerous villains, Pete takes his time pulling the suitcase out from under the bed and stare at the suit, no urgency at all.

The other is when Sandman pounds what he thinks is Spidey with a huge sand-hammer, and the thing suddenly opens up an impossibly big mouth lined with razor sharp slavering fangs and hisses at him. Sandy hurls the terrifying looking thing away from him where it lands on a nearby wall and then...Marko just turns and begins to stroll liesurely in the other direction.
I guess if I'm forced I'd have to pick the latter just for it being soooo unnatural. I don't care WHAT power I had, if I happened upon Venom, I certainly wouldn't turn my back on him!

If I could only change one thing it would be the reporter at the end. She pretty much ruined the final battle for me.

Either:

- Having other director doing it.

or

- Sam, please take the story and characters seriously.

Gave Harry the classic GG costume/glider.From looking at the superman returns costume that thing doesn't look like tights and they could of done the same thing for the classic GG costume.

Make Harry help Peter out of his own free will. Or at least give a decent explanation as to why his damn butler didn't tell him the truth for the past 5 years.

Well I would get rid of sandman... although many people might disagree, i didnt see the point in him being in the movie, they already had a killer for uncle Ben. Then there would be more time to add more to Harrys story line, Eddie/Venom's storyline and maybe even some average criminals for spidey to get rid of so we could see the real power of the black suit.Just my opinion though but even though we saw very little of eddie/venom i thought he was brilliant. Topher Grace is a good actor IMO for Eddie. :sym:

No Gwen/Peter/MJ/Harry love square. Took up way too much time. After two movies, the two should have been content with one another and not have any more struggling/breaking up/crying. :p

Sam Raimi: " Hey you, yes you, the one with the Superman t-shirt, come here"
ComicFan: "yeah?"
Sam Raimi: "I´m gonna give you a the chance to change one thing about this little movie I´m making called Spider-man 3"
ComicFan: "Really, are you serious?"
Sam Raimi: You better believe it, soo, what is it gonna be?"
ComicFan: " I know You love Sandman Character and have some great storyarc planed for him... soo, could you take him out of this movie and save him for SM 4"

what I thought was weird that at spider-man day with all those reporters around he'd sit there with his mask off. "They love me"

You know how careless that is? And it's basically impossible for nobody to have seen him and snapped a picture.

take more time to flesh out the characters, if that means losing 1, or 2, then so be it.

Great answer. With all the things they jammed into this film, it's interesting how someone could miss something like this so easily. Yes, you'd think Marko, looking upon this "freak" for the first time, would think it was some kind of demon from hell rather than a regular guy with a business offer!
I would like to add one more thing. The Venom I know would "not" go asking for help to take down Spidey. Especially a stranger. Venom would want him all for himself. (*or rather all for "themselves'"*) Anyway, thanks for making such a good point!

Funny you should mention this. When this scene came on, a patron in the theater actually yelled out, with panic in her voice,"Quick, put your mask on"! The rest of the movie audience laughed. I kid you not.:wow:

I'd just get rid of the symbiote entirely. Had the movie been focused mostly on having The Sandman as a villain as well as Harry being evil and then possibly turning good at the end would have gotten rid of a lot of the silliness that the movie hadn that came from the symbiote.

Shorten the dancing clip in the streets of Emo Peter and put in another twenty minutes of Venom for a three hour movie

This has also been mentioned before..."Body language and vocal emotion"! Many people shall argue that this comic aspect will not translate well to the screen. However, "I totally dissagree"!!! Much of Spidey's appeal is what comes through the mask in words. As I have mentioned many times before, Spidey's sharp toungue and quick wit gives the character all new dimension and mystery. Having him hopping around like a mute or battling without his mask/costume robs one of the all the possibilities of what Spider-Man could/should be. All of Peter's repressed emotions come through the mask and costume of Spider-man. In some ways I view the Spider-Man persona as Parker's alternate personality coming through loud and clear. Without that, we wind up with "Parker the nerd" all over again while being cheated of the Spider-Man we all know and love.

Yes, this really bothered me as well. With all the vocal effects at their disposal, Venom could have sounded much more creepy and unearthly in speech patern. If one just watches the animated series from the 90s, Venom sounded "perfect". It makes the villian all the more frightening. It appears that Raimi doesn't really grasp that fact that the alien symbiote is a thinking/ feeling lifeform with it's own thoughts and emotions. That should only be added to Brock's perona in every aspect, including vocal patern. Oh, and Venom should not say something like "I am Venom", but rather, "WE" are Venom"!!
