10.8 - Abandoned - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

yea they probably put wb/cw and there crew photos in there just for fun. But pretty cool. If any one can get screen caps maybe we can figure out some others.

The chick in the Freddy Glove was hot as hell! Granny Goodness was played by the same actress who was Gladys the older demon lady from the show Reaper.

She's Justin Hartley's wife.

yup we all knew that, i think she was solid casting. Also linsday hartley was pretty cool as hariett.

Abandoned applies to Tess moreso than Lois as the endscene hit it home. It's about Tess discovering her origins, her true parents, and her true name. She is officially canon, mythos, and part of the comics. Since she's Lena Luthor, I don't think she will betray Clark or his team. This also shows that her running LuthorCorp wasn't randon, I think Lex knew that she was his half-sister. If she loved Lionel like we saw the flashbacks, then it's the opposite of Lex's relationship with him.

Clark and Lois' relationship goes to other levels with facing their true parents in Jor-El, Lara, and Ella before moving forward. I feel this corrects last season's Kandor when Clark got to see them in their true selves and not clones. I like it when he teams up with Tess to investigate now that she's the new Watchtower.

The Lois Lane torch is passed from one generation (Lois & Clark) to another (Smallville) as Teri Hatcher shows us why she was the Lois Lane of the 90's. It was dramatic, emotional, and would make a viewer cry.

Granny Goodness and the Female Furies came across pretty well. It was great to see the triangle of her, the Darkseid-possessed Gordon Godfrey, and Desaad as they are becoming a threat to Clark and the heroes. Tess' fight with Mad Harriet was pretty good as well. Another great episode.

they never said tess and lex had a romantic relationship. i doubt they did. she probably just had u know a regular relationship with him. heck for all we know lex could have known she was his half sister after maybe the whole lucas thing and he looked into lionel's dirty past and all. vant i dont think godfrey is possessed any more. after kara knocked him out of him. But he probably remembers what happened to him. And now desaad and granny are going to use him as a minion for their plans.

Tess did love Lex. Just not sure in what way...

Awesome episode. I almost teared up w/ the Teri Hatcher scenes. Both she and Durance did an excellent job there. In contrast I thought Helen Slater's acting was horribly worse than her previous episode. I guess you can argue that Kryptonians are suppose to be emotionless but whatever.

I loved Granny Goodness, she was really creepy. I hope to see more of her and her Furies in the future.

yea you could take what tess said back then many ways. I am sure it wasnt a romantic deal with them.

So, this is the new official Lionel Luthor offspring tree;

1. Lutessa Lena Luthor (Tess Mercer)
+ Born November 12th, 1979
+ Mother was Pamela Jenkins

2. Alexander Joseph Luthor (Lex Luthor)
+ Born _____, XX 1980?
+ Mother was Lillian Luthor

2a. Lex Luthor (Lex Luthor V2)
+ Cadmus Labs clone

2b. Alexander _____ Luthor (Lex Luthor V3)
+ Cadmus Labs clone

3. Julian _____ Luthor
+ Born _____, XX 1991?
+ Mother was Lillian Luthor

3a. Grant Gabriel (Julian Luthor V2)
+ Project Gemini clone

3b. Adrian Cross (Julian Luthor V3)
+ Project Gemini clone

4. Lucas _____ Luthor
+ Born _____, XX 1984?
+ Mother was Rachel Dunleavy

I like the fact that TPTB have shown that Lex has not advanced his father's cloning process since Lex V2 and Alexander (Lex V3) both have rapid aging defects like Grant Gabriel and Adrian Cross...

Very very solid episode. Probably my favorite after Homecoming. I guess it's on par with Lazarus, gotta decide soon who is better soon haha. I love the fact that they finally named Darkseid, I was getting a bit tired of the "dark force" thing. Everything was great in it - the Fortress scene, the Clark and Lois stuff, the Teri tape, Granny Goodness and Tess. Ever since they brought her, I thought she would turn out to be a Luthor. Why some people complain about this or compare it to Henry Olsen and say it's a cop-out, is beyond me. It made sense, it was well done and connected very nice to the Granny/ Furies stuff. My most favorite scene was the Granny/Desaad/Godfrey scene. I loved this conversation. They finally got back to the Darkseid story and did it big. Superb episode. Absolutely loved it.

My wife's birthday. Interesting that she's actually older than Lex. Still interested to know why Lionel would just abandoned her?

Who else thinks that when Lionel "melted" Lex's brain in S3 that he took out any remaining memories (if Lex even had any) of Lutessa being his sister?

Also, what was the whole ordeal with Tess' mother thinking Clark was her child? Did Lionel take the kid "Tess" like right after birth and then was led astray of Tess during her whole mix-up of thinking Clark was her child with Lionel?

Holy, continuity Batman!

So Tess is older than Lex? I'm sure there's some continuity error in there somewhere.

Outstanding episode! My favorite after "Homecoming"!

Well, Lex was 21 in 2001 (1st episode) and Tess stated she was 30 in a second-half of S8 (2008) episode.

The only way I could see it being different is if her "former" birthdate/year was forged and her "real" (Luthor) birthdate/year is even earlier or later then Lex's.

The way I see it, Tess was born earlier than what we already know of (1978) and was given away at the age of 5 (or whatever she was told tonight by Granny) once Lionel had a SON who was rightful to the Luthor name being born from Lillian. Other wise, if she was born after Lex then why did Lionel wait till she was 6 years old-ish to hide/giver her away to Granny?

I thought Lionel gave her away for the same reason he gave Lucas away. She was simply not the child of his wife. According to Smallville Wiki, Tess was born in 1979 which I guess was referenced in Turbulence.

i think your confusing the mothers. lucas' mother thought that clark was her son, whereas lex's nanny was the mother of tess. i haven't seen these episodes in quite some time, so i may be off. gabriel was a clone of lex's younger biological brother. not just half. so it's three moms and four kids bc lillian had two kids but saw how lionel was with lex and killed lex's brother. one kid was shipped off (tess) and one lionel didn't know about.
