2007 - 2008 NCAA Basketball Thread

The thing that worries me about MSU is that we lack a killer instinct.

In the Iowa game, we shouldn't have pussyfooted around. That led to a loss, an embarrassing one to say the least.

Many games, we could have blown the opponent out, but wanted a close game. That pisses me off, since I look at a lot of the other teams' wins (non-conference wise) and see they win by like 30+. But MSU's strength of schedule is pretty tough, so I can let that go.

But there's NO WAY MSU should be losing to Iowa, and beating Michigan by only 15 points.

If you want to beat Michigan State, score big and early. Because we are a damn good second-half team. Also, stop Drew Neitzel. When he's on, we can beat anyone in the nation.

My point: We need to start beating our Big 10 opponents (the lousy ones) by 20+ points. Then I will feel better about this team.

I am a Memphis fan, just look at my sig, so if some disregard my comments because of that, fine.

It's not Memphis' fault that the rest of their Conference is weaker compared to the other conferences, though there are a few teams in the conference that are good.

However, Memphis has played a solid non-conference schedule, with 1 more game left on that (Tennessee). Our last game was against Gonzaga, and that wasn't an easy win. Before that, there was a win against Georgetown, Connecticut, Cincinnati, and Arizona.

Once conference play, including the conference playoff, ends, Memphis will face the real test in the tournament coming up in March. The same thing goes for the other 65 teams in the tournament. With 2 straight apperances in the Elite 8, if we make it that far or at least to the Final 4, then it will be another good year for Memphis.

I'm not knocking them ADD, I just wondered what everyone else thought about it. You are right, they can't help the conf. is not up to par. They can only play the games in front of them. However, like Spiderine said, free throws may be a huge problem.

According to Indiana forums, Eric Gordon may have a broken wrist.

Well Phil, looks like you'll have to battle MSU for the Big Ten. If this injury is true, IU won't be a factor.

Also, this is the MSU all-time blocks leader at his best:

As bad as that cat has been, he's still the blocks leader. After that first year, I didn't think he'd be coming back. He aight.

Heh, we're rolling now baby. Taking down N.C. State should be cinch, they're still trying to learn up from down now that it's getting real.

We already own the ACC, #2 spot in the Top 25, here we come.

Saw Oregon and USC playing the other night, dang....the Ducks have some fiiiiine cheerleaders

Yeah, I just heard that on the radio after the Memphis game.

That's just nuts

I first noticed Oregon's cheerleaders in the 2002 Fiesta Bowl during Harrington's last season. They've never disappointed since. :o

Ugh, I won't be surprised if Illinois beats us again.

ADD... this is possibly a magical year for you, Memphis, and the Tigers fans. If I was you, I would wear that #1 Memphis 20-0 in your sig in slightly bigger(3), bold, and dark blue wording.

Good Luck

:)

Also, I completely forgot that MJ's son plays for Illinois.

Michigan State is 19-2... best start in school history! :woot::up:

Knowing my luck, I'd probably jinx them. But I'll settle for the blue

I will not be surprised if Wisconsin wins the Big Ten... they have such a cupcake schedule the rest of the way.

Indiana has a slightly harder one, and MSU plays the hardest. It's gonna be a tough two months.

YES!

Duke outscored N.C. State 55-26 in the final 20 minutes! That's how you play ball, baby! Thank you Greg, give 'em another hard foul for me! Onto Miami.

I should've played it safe and not bother with the color flair. Memphis is playing like **** so far against UTEP

That cupcake schedule includes Indiana again and MSU, as well as Purdue (who they just lost to). You've been eating the wrong kind of cupcakes, my friend. :o

Why does Florida always suck when they're ranked? They're getting raped by Arkansas!

Nova with 4 straight losses, and the Holy War with St. Joes is rapidly approaching this week. Interesting to see if the Hawks can knock off a down Nova team and establish themselves as the best team in the city!

I'd rank it:
1. Nova
2. SJU
3. Temple
4. Penn
5. La Salle
6. Sixers

:)

Somehow Michigan State lost to Penn State, not good
