Doesn't stop Steve Phillips from being a baseball analyst. Those who can't do teach?
Steve Phillips, Bobby Valentine, Barry Melrose, Herm Edwards, Denny Green, Mike Fratello, etc. Sports broadcasting is full of guys who've been fired for being ineffective.

Although, none come to mind with the, yes, epic sense of failure as Millen's tenure as GM. It has to be because he was fairly good beforehand.

If the Lions continue their losing ways for the next 10 years, Matt Millen shall be forgiven.

Poor Madden. The guy probably went on a bender of Wisconsin cheese and New York pizza when he heard Farve was retiring again. A man can only take so much until he's just sobbing as he stuffs his face and no one needs to listen to that on national television.

Thank God. I am so sick of Madden. Color commentators in general get on my nerves, but I think he may have been the most annoying.

He retired because he couldn't decide who to put on the new Madden cover.

there are some people that are Captain Obvious....Madden is Admiral Obvious

Well, y'knoow, great footbawl, is about great footbawll now right herrre you can see the uh receiver run his route and and and herre you see him run, and then he jumps and great hands that's the key to a good receiver is when you go up and you catch the ball and here you see him catch the ball and then BOOM and he can't hang on to da footbawl cause he got hit by da safety and that's just great hittin' footbawll.

Don't ever change, Madden. I want to forget you just the way you are.

"If this team wants to score, they have to get the ball into the endzone."

Id take Madden over Collinsworth; hideous choice.

But I agree, Madden loves football too much be gone for long.

Pat Hayden has been underused by NBC. He would do a good job on Sunday Night Football.

Perhaps it was simply of function of falling asleep on the couch after consuming far too much of the Pizza Hut Panormous, but I could have sworn at some point, last night/this morning, that I heard John Clayton say that Boldin was a good bet to go the Dolphins.

Also, while trying to catch up on this morning's headlines (by slacking off work), I just saw the ESPN Ticker read the following: NFL broadcaster and Hall of Fame coach John Madden retires.

I suppose without the possibility of covering our Lord and Savior, Brett Favre, the game just doesn't hold the same allure. I guess it's like going back to eating steaks plain after you've discovered steak sauce.

Of course, Brett Favre, on his best day, was never anywhere as good as A-1 Steak Sauce.

Miami was one team mentioned as well as Philly and The Jets, but Armando Salguero says otherwise about Miami:
Anquan Boldin-WR- Cardinals Apr. 16 - 10:39 am et

Beat reporter Armando Salguero "seriously doubts" the Dolphins would pay the price to trade for Anquan Boldin.

Miami is Boldin's preferred destination, but Bill Parcells seems unlikely to mortgage the future for a receiver going on 29 who's missed eight starts over the last two seasons. Salguero expects the Jets and Eagles to make offers.

Also:
Anquan Boldin-WR- Cardinals Apr. 16 - 11:49 am et

ESPN's Sal Paolantonio reports that the Cardinals' asking price for Anquan Boldin is first- and third-round picks.

Sal Pal says the Eagles, Giants, Jets, and Ravens have already shown interest. Noticeably absent from that list are the Dolphins, Titans, Raiders, and Vikings. Philly is positioned well with 12 picks in all and two late in the first round. The Giants are expected to keep pursuing Braylon Edwards.

A 1st and a 3rd? That's it?

WTF is Philadelphia waiting for?!

Exactly, and they can still get a top RB with their other pick. The Jets will most likely take a WR with their first pick, so it could work out for them if they do. Arizona will win out either way since they'll be able to get their RB of the future and get a big defensive player.

watch it....I know its not MLB, but Bobby V is quite the successful manager over in Japan....he's practically a baseball god there...like Hasselhoff is in Germany

The front office doesn't believe WR win....although they always stock up on CB's so go figure.:csad:

That's friggin' ******ed. They'd still have a 1st and a 2nd, and they'd be getting a Pro Bowl WR in his prime.

Jiminy Christmas, son. Why hasn't this happened already?

Yeah, Parcells isn't doing that.

Ah well, time to dig back into WR draft profiles.

How is a late first rounder and one of two second round picks "mortgaging the future"? Especially when one of those picks are likely to be spent on a WR anyway?

If Philadelphia get's Boldin, McNabb better play his mind out - he will have no more excuses for his choking.

Boldins not the kind of WR they need; he catches little dink passes and is a play maker; they need a go to guy; on Boldins team thats Larry Fitz. Boldin isn't a guy who runs routes 20 yards + down field; his average rec. was 10 yards and average yax was 5 yards, which means his average reception is 5 yards from the LOS. Thats not the kind of wr they need.

If they can get him then by all means, but they ought to look Ocho Cincos way first.

Boldin was the "go to guy" before they had Fitzgerald.

That was 6 seasons ago. Boldin doesnt run deep routes. Johnson is a true blood wr; moves the chains, big play, and red zone. Boldin is almost strictly run after catch. Hes not what the eagels need; they need a possession guy.

Yall will think i'm crazy but the Bucs should do what it takes to get boldin we would have arguably one of the best offenses on paper and we have the cap space to do it. Damn the future win now!
