I think OKC winning the title this year. Boston and Miami will make it a series but I do not think neither team can beat the Thunder. They deserved this series victory coming back from 0-2 to win 4 straight games.

It's impossible to say. A week ago the Celtics were dead in the water. Now they are on the verge of taking the East. A week ago the Spurs were unbeatable, now they are going home. The NBA is fickle like that. Though the media will certainly hype them up as such (as it is the new storyline of the hour), the Thunder are not unbeatable. They do have many chinks in their armor that both the Celtics and the Heat can exploit.

^ Come on man OKC deserved to win this game and series. Blame nobody but the Spurs for giving the series away. Reallythis series should of been over in game 5.

Oh I know but I said whoever came out the west was going to win the title so I'm sticking to that.

I'll say this though; I dearly hope the Thunder win simply because they're a fun, young team built through solid drafting and trades. It's always good to see a team like that succeed.

well the refs screwed the spurs over with those charging calls that weren't but the Spurs deserve it for losing the lead they had

Fair enough. If I had to make predictions for the finals tonight (and it is almost foolish to do so because everything can change in just one day)....Celtics beat the Thunder in six, Thunder beats the Heat in seven.

I dunno, I'd like to see the Celtics take it. Give the old guard one more ring before they start rebuilding around Rondo and are probably out of the picture for a few years.

I will say this, if the Thunder can keep this team together, they are the start of the new Western dynasty, IMO. It is fitting that they beat both the Lakers and Spurs, because the West for the past 15 years has been dominated by those two teams. Now the Thunder are going to be the Western team of this decade, IMO.

I want the Celts to win it. They do match up well enough to give the thunder some burn

Why do we owe anything to " the old guard"? The Celtics are one of the "let's buy a championship" teams that not only have won a championship recently, but also have like 30 other trophies in their closet all time.

There's absolutely no reason to want to see the Celtics win again unless you're actually a Celtics fan.

Dynasty? I thought this season had an asterisk to it, right? :whatever:

As much as I want to see the Celtics take it, after this series, I can't see OKC losing a series to either team.

Meh, what can I say? I guess I just want to see Garnett win a second ring, really solidify his legacy and go out on top.

I personally have no horse in this race...but I like the Celtics resilience, their attitude and their players. I'd be fine with the Thunder winning it too. I am just rooting for the Celts (as much as I root for any basketball team, which isn't much...when Pittsburgh gets a team, I shall root).

This season will have an asterisk next to it in the record book because it was shortened. It doesn't change the fact that OKC has the best young team in the league and if kept together they will probably dominate the West for several years to come. So what exactly is your point?

Van Gundy is going to be announcing the finals. Looks like I'll have to watch it on mute or at a bar.

A week ago no one could see the Spurs losing to another team. Just too hard to say one way or another, I think.

I just remember you bringing up how if the Heat won, it was an asterisk championship, and then you brought up the word of a possible dynasty if OKC won and stayed together. I think Darth also joined in about how if OKC won they would be deemed the next generation of stars, if Miami won they got a * championship. Eh, whatever.

Anyways, I think a lot of us knew that OKC has the potential to be a great team in the future and I never ignored that. I think they've shocked just about everyone by completely sticking it to this great Spurs team (who were on a 20 game winning streak I believe).

This could quite possibly be one of the youngest (if not thee youngest) teams, as far as their starting five goes, to ever be in the Finals. I just don't see them hanging on to Harden, if he wants to get really paid, especially if they win it all.

But if they somehow get that situated and he stays, it's definitely a dark time for every other team in the West. Like I said earlier, rarely have these guys put it all together for a full game all season, and they still come back after spotting teams full quarters and win the game.

But my point had nothing to do with that. Any team this year will have an asterisk. And win or lose, OKC is already deemed the next generation of stars because they are. It isn't because they are in the NBA finals that they have the potential to be the new Western dynasty, but because they are talented as hell.

Ok, never mind then. I guess I was just more focused on your hatred of LeBron at the time you mentioned it. :cwink:

Yeah Matt's point was that he wanted the Heat to win so it would have an asterisk on it and not really count for Lebron or whatever. It was Lebron hate.:o

Eh, who cares, he's from Pittsburgh. :p

Quite frankly, due to the back to back to back scheduling of the season, the fact that they played less games is rather a moot point. These pampered panty wastes played harder this season then most of them ever have BECAUSE it was a shortened season and Stern was so hell bent on staying on schedule. Asterisk? There will be no Asterisk. Whoever wins this earned it and then some. :o

I can't stand Van Gundy but the one thing I agree with him about is he absolutely HATES flopping and OKC takes flopping to another level where it just gets sickening to watch. I think it kills the NBA product as a whole and I couldn't finish watching the game tonight because there just came a time where I knew the Spurs couldn't win no matter what with the barrage of crap calls I was seeing.

the spurs lost by six and they had six points taken off due to bad officiating, the ball was already through the hoop. It just pisses me off cause we were robbed of a thriller ending do to bad officiating. No conspiracy, no favoritism, just bad officiating.
