I actually like Pagano for Indy. This isn't a Raheem Morris type of situation where after very little experience as a position coach, they are promoted to DC and then almost instantly promoted to HC. Pagano has been in the business for 20 years as a position coach and spent 10 years doing so in the NFL. He established himself as one of the elite defensive back coaches before becoming Baltimore's DC. Unlike Morris, he has actually paid his dues and earned a shot at wearing the headset.

Plus, Pagano is tough as nails. He can create his own culture (which Indy desperately needs at is has been Peyton's locker room for far too long).

That being said, he won't be the one to groom RG3 or Luck. In fact, I could see Indy bringing in my old buddy Bruce Arians, either as OC or quarterback coach. Arians has ties to the Colts organization. He was Manning's first quarterback coach and groomed Manning into what he is. As long as they don't let him call plays, he would be ideal for grooming Luck or Griffin.

Great hire by the colts I'm upset about losing him but he has earned his chance to be a HC,even Terrell Suggs said that he doesn't expect Chuck to coach at Baltimore for more than a year cause he will be a head coach somewhere else.

I really like his style and preferred his play calling to that of Rex Ryan's .I'm thinking he brings in Hue Jackson to be his offensive coordinator and Clarence Brooks (Ravens DL coach) to be his defensive coordinator.

I can't see Jackson going to Indy. He is too combative. Indy does not like controversy. Irsay will veto that one in a heart beat. He's not going to let Indy become the new Baltimore (haha, it's funny to put it that way).

Beyond that, they need someone who either Peyton can work with or who the new quarterback can be groomed by. Jackson would work in neither of those situations. Yes, he worked with Flacco, but the results weren't exactly inspiring. I think Arians fits too well not to bring in.

What's with both Raiders and Colts hiring other team's first-year defensive coordinators as their head coach?

Didn't the Rams start that trend a few years back when they took spags from the Giants?

Don't let Pagano's number of years as DC fool you. The man has been in the business for twenty years. It is actually a great hire. Allen....well....the jury is still out there.

And just like that, only one opening remains. I wonder who will take Tampa?

I'd say the Steelers and started it. Tomlin had less than a year in Minnesota when the Steelers signed him in 2007. Once he won a Super Bowl in his first two years, basically everyone started following suit.

Sherman is already on the 2nd interview. Shefter says that all the empty HC jobs should be up by the end of the week and that was before the Raiders and Colts formally made their decision.

Honestly, the best solution for the Colts is to start working on an immortality serum for Peyton. :hehe:

They just need to make Peyton into a cyborg by installing steel parts into his neck to prevent further surgery. :oldrazz:

Still cant believe my 49ers are not in the Super Bowl :(

In response to reports surrounding Billy Cundiff’s missed game-tying field goal in the Ravens’ 23-20 loss to the New England Patriots, Head Coach John Harbaugh issued a statement.

“We knew what the down and distance were on our last series,” Harbaugh said. “The scoreboard was not a factor for us. Any suggestion that the wrong down information was a deliberate effort to affect the outcome of the game is nonsense.”

On the Ravens’ final drive of the game, there was a discrepancy between officials and the Gillette Stadium scoreboard as to the down and distance.

The scoreboard indicated it was third down when it was actually fourth.

Cundiff appeared late getting on the field before attempting the 32-yarder, which he missed wide left.

The scoreboard confusion on the series started after a first-down pass to wide receiver Anquan Boldin. As he was getting tackled, Boldin fumbled the ball forward and out of bounds ahead of the first-down marker.

The officials correctly spotted the ball short of the first-down marker, making it second down.

On the next play, the Ravens ran a pass play to Lee Evans in the end zone, which fell incomplete to make it third down. But the scoreboard read second down.

Baltimore then ran a pass play to tight end Dennis Pitta, which also was incomplete, and then attempted the field goal on fourth down.

Two words: Kyle Williams. :o

Not really. The team, not Kyle Williams is responsible. Kyle Williams messed up two plays. The offense converted once on third down, with thirteen attempts. Williams messed up twice. The offense messed up twelve times. It was a team loss. No individual loses a game (except Billy Cundiff ;)).

Well, it was due to Williams' turnovers that Giants were able to get the possession and later convert them to 10 unanswered points, so in actuality it was more than just two plays, as you described it. Yes, the team lost as an unit, but without his two turnovers, the outcome would've probably be different.

Pagano is a good hire. I would think he'll have a say in the coaching staff, unlike Jim Caldwell, who was nothing more than Peyton's puppet.

I can never stay awake for the Pro-Bowl game, I always end up taking a nap after the first quarter. :csad:

And if SF had capitalized more on those other opportunities, it could also have been much different. They could have won in regulation and never have gotten to the fumble in overtime.

Basically, in a defensive stalemate like this, it was bound to come down to something like that on special teams or an offensive turnover near the end zone. And if you look at this and the game against Green Bay, turnovers have been a major part of the Giants' wins. So they either made a pact with the turnover gods, or they've been playing good enough football to have those work in their favor.

So.....

....Miami or Redskins if Peyton can play?
