They use to say that it took 3-4 years to groom a player for Starting QB. But Romo is on year 6 already. I think it's time to look past the growing pains and come to the realization that he's going to be an adequate QB at best.

I hope they keep Romo forever.

Bengals beating my Browns. Pretty pathetic loss there.

Ugh, would have liked to see both teams walk away with a draw. :o

If the Browns want to keep things afloat, they definitely need to use Hillis more often and groom that WR core.

I know it's the first game of the season but when does Dallas just decide that Romo isn't the answer. He hasn't grown his game at all. He's still that kid that fumbled the snap on that field goal try all those years ago. I just think mentally, he doesn't have it. There is a lack of focus there and he crumbles under pressure.
Then they'll have to find one heck of a replacement. There are a lot of quarterbacks that are worse than Romo. More than there are better. Really, who else is out there that gives the Cowboys a better chance to win? Someone that isn't going to take a few years to develop? Unless they get some free agent megastar that hits the market (which never happens) or they draft someone who will probably take some time to develop (and may not even be better than Romo), they're stuck with Romo. It's the first game of the season and it was against a good defense. The Cowboys still have a long road ahead of them and I expect them to make the playoffs. He has made some boneheaded mistakes in the past, but this doesn't mean he can't lead a franchise to victory or deep into the playoffs. Even if it hasn't happen yet. Really to me, this is like saying Warren Moon wasn't the answer for the Oilers because he fumbled a lot and his teams never got past the divisional round.

Well how many years do you have to wait for him to do it? 7-8?

Looking at the Cowboys Schedule, a good team could definitely make it a 13-3 season with only the Jets, Patriots and Eagles Away as losses. But with last night's performance, I doubt those 3 games will be their only problems.

As long as it takes until you have someone waiting in the wings to replace him if he can't. Right now, Romo is the best option with the players they have, a lot of them in their primes. They could draft for the future if Romo plays terrible this season and keep him on the roster until someone else is ready to take over. Not sure what Tony Romo's contract situation is though. I think he has a couple of years left on his deal. Romo and the Cowboys may opt to go their separate ways.

Now Im a ravens fan so Im very happy today on this purple monday. But this is in regard to the falcons. So they get blown out in the playoffs at home by the packers and they think there problem is on offense? So they trade everything including mike smith's house to get julio jones and this is the result? I think they might have wet the bed on that deal insteading of trying to revamp that defense in a division full of high powered offenses. Ive said it time and time again one man doesnt help a team win, its a team effort.

I do think the Falcons needed another offensive weapon. It was getting all too predictable with Turner, White and Gonzalez.

But yea, the defense was terrible last year, and I fear it will be again this year. Also, the pass protection is looking shakey after losing Dahl.

What is surprising is that Turner ran for 100 yards off only 10 carries against the Bears of all teams. I mean, WTF? How can that happen but they still get ***** slapped.

At this point, yeah, this is the best they are going to do and anything can happen in the NFL but with his 1 playoff win and just his boneheaded plays that he can't see to outgrow, I can't see him going deep in the playoffs. Especially going up against a team like New Orleans or Green Bay.

The o-line yesterday was horrid, but Matt still threw 300 yards, weird. I think Julio Jones shows a lot of promise.

Pretty impressed with the Cowboys. I assumed the Jets would blow them out....and so did the NBC commentators before the game. They came in with big messes on their offensive line and secondary, new defense, on the road, against a SB contender and still almost won...heck they should have won. Try and find someone who thought that would happen before the game. I thought they would be lucky to go 8-8 this year...but they may be better than that (unless the Jets aren't as good as I think).

Romo seems like Favre to me. Makes big mistakes at the end of games. But Favre won a SB...so I guess that's good enough. I remember when the Cowboys had a guy named Emmitt Smith to punch in those touchdowns when one of their other players got tackled at the 1 yard line. A little tougher when the QB has to do the work. (Aikman had it easy)

oh good morning Suzy Kolber....you look so pretty today

yes..yes she did. She needs more airtime..i love her:woot:

Go 49ers....Ted Ginn...beast mode

The one rare time I root for the damned evil cowboys..and they lose...

What do you mean past, he made two boneheaded plays last night. He is making boneheaded plays in the present. And he hasn't led his team deep into the playoffs in all these years. At some point the Cowboys have to look for someone other than Romo. And of course, you would have to develop that guy but I mean, it's not like they haven't wasted 10+ years already on Romo, Quincy Carter etc.

How many of his contemporaries have made it to at least the Championship game?

The difference is, Favre could win big games. Romo can't. Favre could take a mediocre team and carry them. Romo can't. Romo is nothing like Favre. He is like Mark Brunell, Kerry Collins, Jon Kitna, and countless other mediocre NFL quarterbacks. He is good enough to justify starting and make the coach who cuts him without a guaranteed high quality successor look like a fool, but he will never be an elite quarterback, no matter how much the sports media wants him to be.

Jerry Jones need to wise up and stop drafting players he think he can market and draft players that can actually help the team.

What an incredible stat historically

The Jets are the first team to beat the Cowboys when trailing by 14+ points going into the 4th quarter.

241-1-1

Props to the Jets for beating Cowboys, and didn't lay an egg on the 10th anniversary of 9/11. But c'mon Sanchez, this is your third year as a starter; you are supposed to play much better and stop throwing those short yardages. You got Santanio Holmes; give him the long ball!
