2011 NFL Thread: The Lazarus Season - Part 2

That got pushed aside when the Ravens started to do well and The Raiders fell off for a moment but it will be back.

The Steelers/Raiders rivalry really died off after the 70s. It came about due to the fact that they would regularly play each other in the postseason every year, but it fell by the wayside in the 80s when Pittsburgh was horrible and then in the following two decades both teams had their ups and downs. In recent years, Pittsburgh has been fairly solid while Oakland hasn't been quite the same after the "Tuck Rule" game and the Super Bowl against Gruden the following year.

But I think Oakland is turning things around. McFadden is a f**king beast if he stays healthy and the D is good. They seriously need a new QB though. Campbell isn't going to get them very far.

That's the only reason I would consider tanking the season. We need a good QB and we need a good position in the draft to get one. And thanks to poor management we have little to no draft picks in this upcoming draft.

Well, Oakland could've tried to get Kevin Kolb back when he was available, or even McNabb so they can buy some time to get a new young QB. Of course, Al Davis thinks his decision is absolute so if he thinks Campbell is their QB, then it's final.

Btw, I can't believe some Denver fans are already calling for Tebow to start after their loss to Oakland last night. Maybe they should just let Tebow start and the fans will be happy even if their team goes to the gutter.

He's a running back in a quarterback league.

Loved how quickly the NFC North answered the question of which NFC division is strongest this year.

With the way people were slobbering over the NFC South, I can understand your apparent glee but I don't think the Falcons, Saints, or Bucs will continue to drop games. I'd also add that I'd take the Saints team on Thursday against any of the NFC North teams on Sunday.:o

They seem to have bought into the hype more than Josh McManchild did.

How glorious it would be if Terrelle Pryor turns out to be more Cam Newton than Jamarcus Russell.

That would be glorious for you guys, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Who would have thought a team would want their QB modeled after Cam Newton just a few days ago?

I hope Terrelle turns out to be a star in this league though. The BS with NCAA, along with Commissioner Godcomplex suspending him, made me want to see him succeed.

Probably the first thing we've agreed on but this sums up how I feel about this situation.

Oh, so you didn't agree with me when I said my Steelers played like total sh** the other day and your boys played really well? :cwink:

But yeah, if there's one thing most Steelers and Ravens fans can agree with, it's that Goodell has WAY too much power.

We won convincingly but I dislike the reaction I've seen across Baltimore & online from my fellow Raven fans. This was ONE game that's long damn overdue, as far as I'm concerned it was payback for gift wrapping a W for you guys in the playoffs last season, it wasn't a Division title.

I can only assume my team has a longer view than the rest of Raven Nation.

As to Goodell, I can't even express my disdain for that *****e without violating all types of profanity policies on this site.

Not me, being from Pittsburgh all I've heard about for the past 5 years are stories about Pryor being a complete ass**** to fans, coaches etc.. If he succeeds I hope it's after 5+ years of humbling failure.

At least you're keeping it in perspective, which is what all fans SHOULD do, but few ever do. Steelers fans can be just as bad, as I'm sure you know... I think the problem with having so much success overall is that you have people who view any season that doesn't end with a Lombardi trophy as a failure, which is ridiculous. The way I see it, if we make it to the playoffs (and hopefully not lose to a division rival there), the season is a success. If we can cap it off with a Super Bowl title, that's awesome, but it doesn't kill me if we don't.

And yes... Goodell is a massive *****e and a total puppet for the owners. I despise him and the amount of control he has over the league makes me want to vomit.

The Saints v. Lions is going to be one hell of a game (I bet it gets flexed to Sunday Night Football in October). Barring dramatic injury, the Lions should take the Saints though. The Saints defense relies on blitz schemes for QB pressure, which makes elite QBs like Rodgers or Stafford particularly dangerous (elite QB's love blitzes). The Saints offense, on the other hand, will have to deal with a defense who can pressure their QB with four (which means 7 reading Brees).

The South is a good division, the North is just better ;) Or at least was Week 1. The Bears defense scares me due to its depth and age (no Urlacher, no defense).

I do think the Bucs are better than the Falcons this year. The Falcons and Matt Ryan are similarly over-hyped.

Really? I'm originally from the 'Burgh but I haven't lived there for years, so I haven't heard all of that about Pryor. If what you say is true though, hopefully he'll change his attitude.

I'm with you Row, I just want The Steelers to make the playoffs this year. Anything after that is gravy.
