Dalton for rookie of the year if he takes bengals to playoffs

This makes me happy:

Newton still would be top pick, but other QBs rise in re-draft

2. Denver Broncos
Actual pick -- Von Miller
Adjusted pick -- Andy Dalton: There's no doubt that Miller is a good player. He has six sacks, but the Broncos are a quarterback away from being a potential playoff team in that division. Despite being 2-5, Denver has talent and Dalton gives them a better chance to win. He's another rookie QB playing above expectations. Dalton's not flashy, but is smart and steady.

It's purely speculative, of course.

Luck is going to have a massive amount of expectations next year.

Cam Newton, Christian Ponder, and Andy Dalton have upped the stakes (and the season has yet to hit the halfway mark).

It's nice to see rookie quarterbacks who can come in and be successful without having to ride the bench for a season or two.

Except for Blaine "PLEASE DON'T HIT ME!!" Gabbert.

Ugh, Gabbert is a chickens**t. He's getting worse as the season progresses. I truly feel bad for the Jaguars, they might have wasted a 1st Round pick.

Personally, I think Luck would be wasted if Colts drafted him, because like Cam Newton I think Luck is a QB who is ready to start from Day One, but Payton Manning will definitely come back and perhaps still have another 2 years or so in him. So benching Luck for a couple of years, even for Manning, is a waste of a talent. At least in Miami, Luck will not have any QB controversy, and Henne will be demoted to a backup if the team drafted Luck.
He wouldn't be wasted. He would just be sitting on the bench until Manning retires. It could actually benefit him learning on the sidelines from a master in Peyton. Not to mention he wouldn't have the burden of saving a franchise right out of the gates.

Henne is a FA. Moore has a year left on his deal after this season is over. Unless Moore can start pulling some Delhomme Magic, he'll be the #2 or #3 QB in Miami next year. Either way, let him start rest of season Miami. If the team wins games, they should win more than Indy--just trade picks to Colts to get Luck. Dangle Marshall, Moore, ton of draft picks to Colts to get Luck draft pick...cause Indy is going 0-16 and Miami is going 2-14. Indy has no fight left. Miami still has fight left. They'll win one of their next two games for sure.

What does this have to do with Luck going to the Colts being a waste of talent? Just because NFL fans aren't seeing him play? I think you're confusing two different things. Luck sitting on the bench for a while developing doesn't mean his talent is being wasted.

Is Delhomme Magic the uncanny ability to find the cornerback or the safety everytime you throw the ball?

I say let the Raiders be their first win. That will piss off Raiders fans

Newton has the advantage of having entered the league with a lot more hype.

It's not just that though. Newton is a freak of nature.

If Newton plays up to the very top of his potential, he could be the greatest QB to ever play the game. He is physically the most dominant individual to play the position.

If Andy Dalton does the same thing he may be Drew Brees. Which is awesome - but it's not new.

Newton is a human highlight reel and that helps his sex appeal.

Newton is definitely a truly dynamic and exciting player to watch. His style of play also gets a lot of attention and makes for good highlights on ESPN.

I was completely wrong about him and the success he'd have the year. I can't believe how much he's exceeded expectations.

Yeah, he has blown pretty much everyone away, which is awesome because there were so many doubts about him from all of the experts before the draft.

It makes me wonder about Luck. Do you guys think there is any chance of him turning out to be a bust? I'm not trying to say that he will... but something one of the experts said made me wonder. They said he is the best QB prospect to enter the draft since Peyton Manning.

The reason that stuck out to me is because while Manning has turned out to be one of the best QBs to ever play the game, back when he was drafted, there was a chance that Ryan Leaf could have been picked ahead of him. That ultimately didn't happen (Leaf went second) but what I'm getting at here is that pre-draft, all of these sure things aren't necessarily sure things. Leaf was projected to be as good if not better than Manning, and ultimately went down as the greatest bust in draft history until JaMarcus came around.

Again, I'm not trying to say this will happen with Luck; however, I'm wondering how so many people seem to "know" that he will be a Top 5 QB by the time he reaches his second season.

Ryan Leaf....What a whiny *****ebag.

I've even heard some say Luck is the best QB prospect since Elway.

It will almost be impossible for him to live up to expectations when he's already being compared to Manning, Elway, etc.

Not saying he will bea bust, but those are some heavy comparisons to live up to.

Leaf was entertaining ... for all of the wrong reasons.

That locker room rant is classic stuff.

I personally think Jamarcus Russell is the biggest bust of all time, Ryan Leaf at least did okay in a few games

Yeah, Tubby has surpassed him, I believe. However, that's not really a credit to Leaf, but more a statement on just how remarkably sh**ty JaMarcbust was.

That is what I was referring to.

Dalton's qualities will be slightly be overlooked because of that reason. The Bengals isn't a squad that ESPN showcases very often.

Given Bengals track record, I can't really blame ESPN. And even though they have a 5-2 record I think it is too early to declare them a playoff team, as well, since they still haven't faced either Steelers or Ravens yet. We'll get a better assessment of this team after they have finished their divisional games.

Nice! Like the Leaf appearance.

Leaf versus Russell is a real toss up for me. The only reason I might still have Leaf as a bigger bust is I think expectations were higher for him. There seemed to be more questions with Russell. Leaf did have a small bit of early success, though.

In the end, they both turned out to be gigantic turds.

Not sure what it is about Luck that makes me so sure he'll be a success.

I've never felt so sure that a quarterback would lead their team to the win than I was last week after Luck threw that pick 6; he can make all the throws, has a short memory, calls his own plays, never had any character issues but it's more than that.

I'm not going to get carried away and start predicting an Elway-esque level career, but I'm confident he can start from day one and make a team competitive.

I listened to Cowherd this morning and I agree with him. Cowherd said that Colts must draft Luck, but if they do, they will have to do what the Packers did with their Favre & Rodgers situation, and they must choose Luck over Manning. This season, we already seen rookie QBs like Newton and Dalton doing phenomenal job with their teams, and Luck is more pro-ready than any of them. Why should he sits on the bench and learn from Manning? If Newton and Dalton can do it, so can Luck, and the Colts have enough talents for him to start winning right away. And if Luck does sit on the bench, it'll divide the fan base because if Manning struggles, half of the fans will want Luck to start and the other half want Manning to continue. It'll be just like what Green Bay went through with their QB controversy as well.

Of course, if Manning retires, this debate is moot, but I have a feeling that Manning will be back. Whether he will be 100% or not is obviously still a question mark.
