Nice! Like the Leaf appearance.

Leaf versus Russell is a real toss up for me. The only reason I might still have Leaf as a bigger bust is I think expectations were higher for him. There seemed to be more questions with Russell. Leaf did have a small bit of early success, though.

In the end, they both turned out to be gigantic turds.

Yeah, that's true, there were more questions about Tubby. And once Al Davis declared him an elite QB or whatever he said, that was an indication that he would go down as one of the worst starting quarterbacks in history.

What other 1st round busts are still around in the NFL? Which one do you think is the worst? Here are the ones that stick out to me...

Matt Leinart
Brady Quinn
Reggie Bush
Aaron Maybin
Tim Tebow (still early, but he is horrible and should not be a starting QB right now)
Is it too early to put Blaine Gabbart on the list?

Reggie Bush is an interesting one. I'm not sure I'd quite put him in bust status, but he came no where near the expectations that were set for him. He's had a decent career, but will never be the elite player he was projected to be. At some point, it might be best to make him strictly a specialist.

Reggie Bush did not meet the high expectation that NFL had for him, but I won't call him a bust, either. I think you can put Vince Young in this category, as well.

Jamarcaburger was a #1 pick, Leaf was not the #1 pick.

Jamamaissofat was a walking disaster on the field and could care less about his weight off the field.

Ah, forgot about Vince Young (which is pretty easy to do, lol).

Bush I would argue is a bust though, given the hype that surrounded him after college and the fact that even average RBs in the NFL like Mendenhall have been able to get over 1,000 rushing yards in multiple seasons, while Reggie has only made a little over half that twice. If we're talking about all-purpose yards he looks a little better but it's not like we're talking about Marshall Faulk here. And his receiving yards have declined overall as well. There's also his frequent injuries.

But I think the most telltale stat is this: Darren Sproles was added as his replacement this season in New Orleans. Spoles nearly has more receiving and rushing yards NOW after seven games than Reggie did in each of his last three seasons in New Orleans.

So while Bush might look like a solid gadget play guy that would have paid dividends had he been picked up as an undrafted free agent, for a first round pick who was projected initially to go first overall, he really hasn't come close to living up to his expectations.

LOL, that is awesome. :pal:

My favorite all-time bust is still Tony Mandarich. The hype surrounding that dude was unbelievable when he was coming out. I'll never forget that Sports Illustrated cover featuring him, "the best Offensive Lineman prospect ever".

To think the Packers could have picked Barry Sanders, Derrick Thomas or Deion Sanders. That makes the pick stand out even more.

Was he the one that SI nicknamed "The Incredible Bulk" on the cover?

Yeah, that was him. The cover had Mandarich shirtless with the title "The Incredible Bulk".

A few years later they followed that up with him on another cover with the title "The Incredible Bust".

John Beck, condoms and the Redskins sack record

By Dan Steinberg

This is a cheap gimmick for cheap publicity from a condom maker I’ve never heard of, but it’s awesome, so why not. From a press release:
The results for the week 8 winners of the NuVo Protection Plan have been tallied and this week was a blow out! John Beck of the Washington Redskins takes home the prize solo, as a first time recipient of the NuVo Protection Plan. Beck blew away the competition as he was sacked 9 times over the weekend — ouch that’s got to hurt! NuVo Condoms sent a week supply of condoms to Beck so he can hopefully recover and won’t be left unprotected next week! Come on Redskins — you can’t let your quarterback get roughed up that badly.
Just imagine what NuVo would have written had the 10th sack been added to Beck’s tally earlier in the week.
:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Wow. Just wow.

The Redskins are still the Redskins unfortunately & they need to find or better yet, develop a franchise QB & draft an heir for DeAngelo Hall.

I'll grant this to Russell: he entered the league with Oakland at their lowest point, so he was fated to fail from the outset.

I listened to Cowherd this morning and I agree with him. Cowherd said that Colts must draft Luck, but if they do, they will have to do what the Packers did with their Favre & Rodgers situation, and they must choose Luck over Manning. This season, we already seen rookie QBs like Newton and Dalton doing phenomenal job with their teams, and Luck is more pro-ready than any of them. Why should he sits on the bench and learn from Manning? If Newton and Dalton can do it, so can Luck, and the Colts have enough talents for him to start winning right away. And if Luck does sit on the bench, it'll divide the fan base because if Manning struggles, half of the fans will want Luck to start and the other half want Manning to continue. It'll be just like what Green Bay went through with their QB controversy as well.

Of course, if Manning retires, this debate is moot, but I have a feeling that Manning will be back. Whether he will be 100% or not is obviously still a question mark.

I don'yt see why Luck can't sit on the bench for 2 or 3 seasons like Rodgers did and take over once Manning retires .

Like I said, if both Newton & Dalton are capable of becoming a starting QB in their rookie year, and Luck is believed to be better than either of them, why should he sits on the bench for two years? It is alot better to let him gain experiences on the field than holding a clipboard until Manning finally decided to hang it up, and I'll only believe that Manning would voluntarily retire if he is physically unable to play; he will not leave if he is still healthy enough to throw the football. Like Favre, Manning is a player who will not go quietly into the night, and he won't do it just because he wants Luck to succeed him as Colts' new star QB.

Yeah, they aren't going anywhere with the scrubs they have at QB. Drafting a good one is the best way to go... you can go after a proven veteran but the Redskins seem to misfire EVERY SINGLE TIME they do anything in free agency, so they would do best to avoid the mistakes of the past.

They also need to find a solid runningback so that if they do land a promising young QB, they're not setting him up for failure by putting it all on his shoulders. Tim HightowIR and Sprained Torain aren't going to get them anywhere.

I don't think Redskins will ever win a championship as long Dan Snyder keeps meddling in the front office like a kid playing fantasy football.

Yeah, Snyder is the death of that team. Supposedly, he has given Shanahan total control over the team but I doubt it. And if he has, well... then that was apparently the worst thing he could do.

Do you guys think Tim Tebow can pull off another Tebow Time against the Raiders ?

Do you guys think Tim Tebow can pull off another Tebow Time against the Raiders ?

You mean throwing 2 picks, taking 6 sacks and losing a fumble?

Yeah, I think he can pull that off.

That's why he's always praying...

Please Lord, give me some protection...

Please Lord, give me some talent...

Please Lord, give me the intelligence to use the protection I have properly and not make my OL's jobs any harder than it has to be...

Please Lord, give me the knowledge of self to understand that I'm not good enough to get that pass in there...

its not just him....the Broncos f'n suck....have for some time now....Tebow (as much as I like the guy) isn't going to improve if the people around him suck

basically everyone sucks right now and Im still baffled that John Fox got the job considering the ****** job he did in Carolina
