I don't know. Regardless of what someone's opinion on it is, smoking weed is illegal. Getting into a fight isn't. I don't think the suspension policy for those two scenerios are too bad.

The thing is, one tarnishes the league's image (which is why the league is so hard on it). The other can cause serious bodily damage to someone. I believe the latter should be disciplined harder.

Goodell can suspend a player for being being accused (not charged) of a crime though. And I believe Suh could be brought up on charges if it is found that he did attempt to conceal bodily injuries to his passengers when he called the police.

EDIT: Okay, just doublechecked... looks like the police said they won't investigate, despite the accusations. So yeah, looks like Suh doesn't have anything to worry about.

This whole thing stinks of corruption.

And if you thought no MNF game could suck as much as Chargers/Jags, next week we get Seahawks/Rams!!!
Why are they doing this to us? This wouldn't have looked like a good matchup at the end of last season.

Agreed, it's terrible but to be fair, a lot of the matchups this week look to either be blowouts or suckfests.

Meh, the Seahawks aren't terrible to watch against decent opponents, but an NFC West free for all?

Marshawn Lynch is damn fun to watch.....when he isn't running over people in Ravens uniforms.

Wow, that is quite the message from Goodell. I am suddenly envisioning him talking in the Doakes voice and telling the Lions, "I'm watchin you mutha f**ka."

It has taken me three days to finally come to the realization that the Bears did in fact lose to KC. They are officially in free fall mode now.

I didn't think it would be possible a couple of weeks ago, but it looks like another loss in Denver this week.

I'll have to start drinking early on Sunday in order to deal with all of the Tebow mania I'll be subjected to.

Which begs the question: why don't the Bears get a veteran QB instead of playing Hanie? I know that McNabb is washed-up, but he was also from Chicago and imo he could be better than Hanie. Anyway, it just seems like the Bears are accepting their fate without doing anything about it.

The Bears aren't completely out of it yet. I'm actually very interested to see how the Bears defense handles Tebow. I think it would be great to see the Bears swallow them up and get a big win so that we can shut up some of these sports analyst guys who believe that Tebow is this super awesome quarterback. Honestly, I think he's all right but he's going off a LOT of luck.

Analysts on ESPN are desperately trying to rationalize why having Manning and Luck on the same team would be a good idea.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: it makes no sense to bench Luck for a couple of years to "learn" from Manning, since he is more than ready to start and other rookie QBs (who are supposedly inferior to him like Newton and Dalton) are starting already and doing a fine job on top of it. But I think Manning is coming back and Colts will draft Luck, so we'll see how they will be handling this situation, but no matter what it's going to be controversial.

Rodgers sat behind Farve, so what's the big deal? Manning will only retire once I would bet.

The difference is, Rodgers wasn't NFL ready. Luck is. Luck is being touted as the best draft prospect since John Elway. He doesn't need time on the bench. All that time on the bench will do is make him stagnate.

I'd argue Aaron was more ready than the overrated #1 pick in 2005.

I've been saying the same thing. Andrew Luck is not the type of QB one drafts to sit behind someone for a couple of years.

I could be drafted tomorrow and I'd be more NFL ready than Alex Smith, so your point may be moot. ;)

LOL

Even back then in high school I thought SF should've drafted Rodgers.

Rodgers would've done just as bad in San Fran as Smith though. Unlike Green Bay he would not have had the proper system, players or coaches to support his growth not to mention he would've been thrust into a starting position right off the bat. Rodgers was not ready to start in the NFL. Neither was Smith. Smith may be a half way decent QB today if he was given time to sit on the bench, hold a clipboard and learn. Rodgers benefited from sitting for a couple seasons. Luck won't.

I had never heard of Smith or Rodgers until they started their first games. Just like I had never heard of Joe Flacco until the 2008 draft.

But you can't really blame the Colts if they draft Luck. Manning will be gone soon and Luck is the best prospect out there.

I guess you don't watch college football then?

I can because it shows they did not learn from their mistakes. The Colts have far bigger needs than the quarterback position. They need to build a team that can work when a single player is taken out of the equation. What if Luck is a bust? What if he gets hurt? Then their entire franchise is up in smoke again. They need to build a team. Not one position.
