But the man deserves to be paid, don't you get that? He's ask for a lot but ****, the guy has done more for you than any QB you have ever had.

It's a two way street. Without Sean Payton, Brees isn't a Hall of Fame QB nor worth the $18 Mill a year he is thumbing his nose at.

Exactly. Saints won't have won that SB without Brees. Yes, yes, I know that there were other 50 or so players on that team, and Sean Payton deserves alot of credit as well, but there's no way that Saints could've won the title without an elite QB like Brees. This is why all the NFL teams are trying to chase one for themselves, as well.

And why should Brees take a pay cut to stay on the team, when he and his agent knew that there are far too many NFL organizations who would pay for his asking price and then some? There are perhaps 6-7 elite QBs in NFL, and Brees is on that short list. It is Saints who need to blink first, not Brees.

Whose asking Brees to take a pay cut? 18 mil would be a raise from his 2011 salary and, once Peyton Manning's contract is terminated, make him the highest paid QB.

But Brees was great in San Diego and even before he was coached under Payton. Yes, Payton is an excellent coach, but he won't have been able to work his magic if he had a lesser QB leading his team. One can argue about the brilliance of Bill Belichick, but would he have been able to made it to 5 SB and won 3 of them if he had someone else under the center, such as Matt Cassel? I don't think so.

But hey, because of Brees delusions he is costing his team the chance of keeping one of the best guards in football and depriving his offense of weapons.

More power to you Drew.

Because Brees recovered the surprise onside kick, and picked off Manning and ran it for a touchdown. :oldrazz:

People like to say that Super Bowl year was all Brees, but that defense got crazy amounts of turnovers and lucky plays that season.

Depends on your definition of "great". Brees, in San Diego, was in the latter half of the top 10 QB's in the NFL.

Again, Brees is a Hall of Fame caliber QB because he plays in Payton's offense. Brees does not deserve to be paid more than Peyton Manning (pre-neck injury) because he isn't as good as Peyton Manning (pre-neck injury).

Yeah seriously, nothing like cutting off your nose to spite your face. He'll be regretting this come September when their replacement for Nicks is getting beaten left and right.

No that year belonged to Gregg Williams.

:oldrazz:

I wonder if Brees felt left out ? With his position he just cant run & tackle a guy for money

No kidding. Nicks, 26, let up something like 14 QB pressures in 700 QB drop backs. Absolutely amazing.

Excuse me, I misspoke.

Nicks gave up 12 pressures.

Losing Nicks will hurt the Saints dearly. Look at my Falcons, they lose Dahl on the line and the whole unit goes to crap. The Saints season will be interesting next year.

Players NOT tagged include Packers QB Matt Flynn, G Carl Nicks, WRs Vincent Jackson, Marques Colston and Reggie Wayne, DE Mario Williams.

Let the speculation begin.

Flynn will go the Dolphins, but Matt Moore will of course beat him out for the starting job.

If we get Flynn then I would rather Matt Moore start then Flynn. We don't need to lose the first half of the season again due to an rookie unproven QB

The Packers should keep Flynn as a backup and trade Rodgers for Matt Moore.

Truth.

Since Matt Moore. Likes BK. He do tv ad. Get Moore for your buck ads. See what I did there, Darth?

I'm liking my Falcon's chances in the Mario Williams sweepstakes. He could end up anywhere though.

Yeah, no kidding. The Pack should have to throw it Clay Matthews and Greg Jennings to make it close to a fair trade.

I'd give my left foot to see the Bengals sign Carl Nicks.

"We have had Brees for six years. How many super bowls? One. When did it come? When we had our best defense. If we give Brees whatever he wants, how can we afford to fix the holes on defense? The contract he wants will leave us in cap hell for the next 3-5 years. We will be the 2007-2008 Saints. Everyone is on the "pay him whatever" bandwagon but no one is looking at the cap implications it will bring. Is it worth having Brees if we can't have the team around him to get us back to the big game? You are fooling yourself if you think Brees alone will get us back.

And another thing, we are going to be losing quite a few major draft picks due to this bounty fiasco. We are going to have to rely on Free Agency to fill our holes. How can we do that with the contract he wants?"

I love Drew...but nowhere near as much as I love the team. I'd rather see him walk than have him just to see us with a sub .500 record while he is with us. It's not worth it if we can't afford to continue building and fixing the team. And we all know this team needs defensive help.
