It equates to people who already have a strong dislike for Brady and/or the Patriots organization. I am interested to see how the court case goes forward.

You know... just to play Devil's advocate, there are PLENTY of reasons, personal reasons, why someone would not want their private affairs on their phone to be looked at...

Brady not giving up his phone does NOT equate an admission of guilt.

Just sayin'

I have tried this line of logic with some people here and they are just not having it.

What people are questioning is the convenient timing of when he destroyed / had the phone(s) destroyed & not the fact that he destroyed any phones. He destroyed that one phone right around the time he was told the phone would be needed for any possible evidence on it. The timing of it is what makes people suspicious

Convenient? Yes. Suspicious? Yes. I can't dispute that whatsoever. However, despite what it appears to be, it's innocent until proven guilty. They don't have s*** on that man for the cell phone. It's not a smoking gun because he was never required to hand it over and has a myriad of reasons to justify it (even if they are outright lies). Call it karma if you want but suspicious does not equal guilty, regardless of what anyone wants the cell phone to represent. Call Brady a sneaky motherf***er or a horrible liar, but it is what it is. Kraft and Brady are justified in what they have said to the media because from the legal standpoint, what does Goodell really have?

Like I said before, this isn't even about deflating footballs anymore. The Wells Report sucks. The cell phone has become the new central focus. Brady is not stupid for not letting it go because the dude has grounds to keep fighting it. Goodell did not handle this correctly.

Where theres smoke. Theres fire. Brady also says the team as a whole did nothing wrong. So why did they fire the two equipment managers (that also gladly handed over their own cellphones) ? Brady's own coach has not even defended him yet (as far as I know) Someone on the Pats is lying here.

The funny part is that the physical phone itself is meaningless. Brady could just wipe the damn thing and hand it over to Goodell. If you're the NFL you'd want to see his phone records which have a record of the content of every text sent. Except they dont have the power to get those either.

I honestly don't blame Brady, there's a lot of private things on our phones, that we sure as hell wouldn't want our employers seeing. If he's not required to give it up (and possibly incriminate himself) why would he freely do it?

They never asked for the phone. Why do people keep saying this? They asked about his messages, and only ones pertaining to the case. They say they'd trust him. He still wouldn't do it. For a guy who says he has nothing to hide, he sure has a lot to hide.

He was also willing to hand over two other phones to the NFLPA, but wouldn't hand over that specific phone or records. I wonder why...

Of course they did, why do you think they're making such a big deal about it being destroyed? Ted Wells asked him outright for it.

I don't know why it is so hard for people to figure out that Brady was not suspended for deflating the footballs, he was suspended for his non-cooperation in an NFL investigation.

I saw an interview yesterday with the lawyer who represented the players involved in the NFL bullying case against the Miami Dolphins. He said that all the players involved handed over their cell phones without hesitation. The cell phones were then searched using specific key words and the NFL only viewed those texts. The guy made special mention to note that he, the player's lawyer, was there during the whole time the NFL had the phones and made sure none of his client's personal information, or stuff that wasn't relevant to the case, was viewed.

So if the scrubs from Miami were smart enough to hire competent lawyers to find a way to cooperate with the investigation and still have their privacy ensured, why couldn't Brady?

Ya but the thing is he absolutely complied within the rules. He didn't have to hand over his cell phone, so he didn't. You can't punish him for following the rules just because it makes goodell mad.

Click on the one link above I posted, and they get into why this is different from the Richie Incognito thing.

Also you're right, he was suspended for not cooperating, which makes it even more ridiculous. He's getting suspended for not doing something which the NFL and NFLPA didnt collectively bargain to give the NFL the right to make him do.

He's getting rung up for not doing something the NFL had no right to ask him to do. How can you not comply with rules, when this was never in the rules to begin with?

Marvin Lewis' goal is to win the Super Bowl, hand Mike Brown the Lombardi Trophy, and then "ride off into the sunset."

Since this will never happen, expect Marvin to coach the Bengals until five years after his death (though you know Mike Brown will try to extend him).

Where the NFLPA screwed up is when they gave Goodell additional enforcement powers (i. e. The proverbial judge, jury, and executioner) in exchange for a bigger piece of the pie (i.e. money) during the last CBA negotiations. So your contention that "they didn't collectively bargain to give Goodell the right to suspend a player for noncooperation", I would say that they did.

Of course, they can rectify that in the CBA negotiations if they want to push it.

Seattle (or both sides) got a good deal. I honestly thought he was going to command a 100+million dollar deal.

It still pisses off Wagner, Bennett and Chancellor though. They realize two of them are not gonna get paid what they want.

Yeah, but the problem is Chancellor and Bennett already have signed their contracts already. They seem to have remorse over the contract. Some even threaten a hold out, which totally made no sense.

Let me ask you this: What is a contract? Isn't it something you signed for and then agree to do it no matter what circumstances shows up? In other words, if you signed a contract, you ought to honor it no matter what.

Here, we have 2 guys don't. (Actually 1 for now, since Bennett did show up). I am not sure why it pisses Wagner because Seattle do have room to sign him in a fairly large contract as well. I am expecting that he will be getting a big contract. He hasn't even been in talks yet. Kam and Bennett will need to play out of their minds if they want to start asking for a raise.

Why The Falcons and Saints coveted Funchess and why The Panthers traded up for him:

Wilson's "success" has been a catalyst for his teammates wanting more. Let's be honest, Lynch is the engine for that offense, not Wilson. So, guys like Bennett, Wagner and Chancellor (who have been vital for the defense) see this as a final opportunity to get the max. Wagner, especially, is seeking a massive contract since the defense started to look average at stopping the run when he got injured last year.

Wagner is a Top 3 ILB. Hell, I'd argue he's right behind Kuechly. So he's looking for his payday and I don't blame him. However, he knows Seattle is gonna play hardball with him. Now that Wilson got nearly 60 million guaranteed, there's a chance that he won't get what he desires. His tweet said it all:

"You can't keep everyone."

Chancellor is possibly the best SS in the league but his style of play isn't meant for a long career. Kam is likely gonna hit a hard decline at 30. I don't blame him for trying to get more guaranteed money. He's got 2-3 good years left before his body starts to break down.

Yeah, I deeply agree with everything you said here. Pretty much on point.

Damn, I was hoping we'd beat the Seahawks in signing Kuechly before Wagner. Oh well, we couldn't avoid it anyways.
