2016/2017 NFL thread: The Final Battle

I laughed my butt off when I heard that Kurt Warner got into the Hall. The HOF is supposed to honor the best of the best. That means a player should be one of the best in the league at his position for the majority of his career. Warner was brilliant for his first 3 years in St. Louis and resurrected his career in similar fashion in his last 3 years in Arizona. Between those brief periods of greatness were 5 years where he couldn't stay on the field, and was often awful when he did play. It's ridiculous to call him one of the best players to ever play.

The HOF voters are a joke.

I prolly wouldn't have voted him in either, but consider him a borderline candidate. To me, it comes down to him being on some pretty good and pretty bad offensive teams. When he was on good ones, he was a hell of a quarterback. When injured or on some not so good teams, he wasn't. Sounds like a lot of QBs out there who might be considered for the hall. I think he benefited from his squeaky clean image; just as some others (Can you spell TO? :woot:) were judged more harshly because of their (shall we say) less than stellar public images.

Not to be disrespectful, but this, IMO, is probably one of those "When the Redskins beat so and so, a democrat gets elected president" type of things. Unless there is some underlying reasoning as to WHY this is happening, I chalk it up to one of those statistical flukes (and they happen). The only reason for this that I could come up with is that MVPs tend to be selected from weaker teams because, as the logic goes, their team wouldn't be where they are without them and so therefore, they are the MVP.

I've always felt that the award should go to the best player regardless of whether or not their team made the playoffs or, at least, have a separate award for Player of the Year or something like that. It seems wrong that someone could be the best player in any sport and not be recognized for that just because their team sucks. Ah, but I digress.....

Hey. Am I the only one who is looking forward to seeing the halftime show? I often consider them a distraction and a opportunity to make 2nd half buffalo wings and margaritas, but I'm looking forward to this one.

yup, pretty much you

last good halftime show was Bruno Mars in 2014

although I did enjoy Katy Perry (that was a fever dream)

that being said, I do expect Gaga to pull some kind of stunt political statement stunt, which Im ok with

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

EDIT: BTW, I was laughing not because I necessarily think you're wrong. I was laughing because I thought what you wrote was funny.

I'll bet we see Tony Bennett.

Ok, I am officially "over" the Super Bowl coverage......*sighs* Rethinking wanting the Olympics to come to Houston.

I don't think any major American city WANTS the Olympics as badly as they think they do

The pre-game is full of so much drivel. I'm watching reruns of Batman Beyond

I'm gonna take the Falcons to win Super Bowl 51.

Falcons - 28
Patriots - 27

Matt Ryan - MVP

It won't be that close. They will win though.

No, but unlike other Olympic cities, the American city always has plans for their venues after the Olympics. If the Bay Area had bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics, there would have been a bidding war after those games (if the Bay Area had won it) for the Olympic Stadium between the A's and Raiders.

Luke did pretty well on the anthem.

Charming how we had to have a SJW moment by adding "in sisterhood" on God Bless America :whatever:

So how many times will they go to Mike Parerra tonight?

also Mike Pence aka Racist Bannon is in attendance

hope seeing Hamilton cast members gave him flashbacks

Brady looking about as mobile as Drew Bledsoe in the pocket. His age is really showing in this game.

Well, about time the 51% was remembered in the National Anthem. :cwink:

Spoken like the proud SJW Feminist that I am.... :sly:

Saw the trailer for Life.....it looks okay.
