It's unfortunate that Houston's next opponent will have a competent QB.
If Pittsbugh wins it will be against Patriots, if Miami wins, is KC, or the other way around?

Anyway, yeah, the Texans have no bussiness next game.

Would love to see Detroit win this game, but I'm going with Seattle.

Seattle - 23
Detroit - 20

The catch in the endzone was insane. Especially as his other hand had a hold of the face mask.

Yeah, I meant Houston, I just worded poorly :D (was talking right after the Texans game)

Thanks for the clarification

Urgh, my whole neighbourhoods power went out about 10min into the start of the game

You guys looking more forward to Miami / Steelers or GB / NY Giants ???

I always love watching Rodgers play, so definitely Packers/Giants for me.

i am so enjoying the Detroit media's attempt to justify the decision to keep Marvin Lewis 2.0 Jim Caldwell. I don't think a more mediocre and uninspiring coach has ever existed. Yet Detroit's press is pretending that he accomplished something by making the playoffs. Forget that Detroit entered the final three games with a two game lead in the division and somehow blew it. Forget that they wouldn't have made it if New York did the sensible thing and rested starters against Washington (in other words, forget that this is a team that had a two game division lead at the start of week 15 and by week 17 didn't even control their own destiny, only making the playoffs by the charity/stupidity of the inbred hillbilly that is Bob McAdoo...I'm just insulting everyone today). Forget that almost all of their wounds are self inflicted. They did what nearly 40 % of the league does and made playoffs so let's all praise Jim Caldwell and accept more mediocrity.

I suppose I should expect no less from the franchise that hangs banners in the stadium for playoff appearances. :lmao: That fact sort of underlines the praise of Caldwell and explains why Detroit won't be competitive until something changes. This is not just a franchise that accepts mediocrity. They celebrate it. And the fans and local sports media, rather than scrutinizing it, do the same. I wouldn't be surprised if the city held a parade for the Lions.

If it seems I am making fun, I'm not. I am totally empathetic and related. The Lions are the Pittsburgh Pirates of football, and that sucks for their fans.

Pretty lousy games for day 1. Much more interested in today's matchups.

Yeah Yesterdays game didn't have that Playoff feel they were both blowout Houston and Oakland had probably the worst QBs in the Playoffs. and Detroit just looked bad Seattle ran away with that one.

We pretty much knew going in the more exciting matchups were on Sunday. Hopefully, there's at least one great game for the weekend.

Yuuuuuuuuuup. :csad:

Caldwell really is a joke. You know that something is wrong with your team when you make the playoffs and yet the owners have to come out and say publicly that they are not firing the head coach. I wonder if they regret that now, though I guess they don't, because that would imply they actually give a crap about winning and no team that employs Jim Caldwell is really interested in winning anything.

You know, these past few weeks have been a bit of an eye opener for me in regards to how awful, apathetic and/or inept so many NFL owners are. To be clear, I view the majority of them as a bunch of rich a**holes who 9 times out of 10 would f*** the taxpayers of any city in the U.S. rather than use a dime of their own money to build a new stadium. That said, some of them are at least competent at their jobs (or in the case of Jerry Jones, can Forrest Gump their way into a really talented team once in a while). But then you have the ones who are flat out terrible, who make decisions so stupid and asinine that you seriously wonder why they ever wanted to own an NFL team in the first place.

I used to think that Dan Snyder was the worst, but perhaps that's only because I live in DC and I've seen so many of his major f***-ups up close. Rest assured, he's awful, but is he (still) the worst after what we've seen recently? Does Jed "You Don't Fire Owners" York take the cake, after firing one of the best coaches in the NFL, replacing him with the janitor, then firing him and hiring mad scientist Chip Kelly only to fire him after one season? Or how about the Pegulas, who were dumb enough to hire Rex Ryan (and allow him to hire his idiot brother). Perhaps firing them might give fans some hope that they care about the direction of their team but they retained Doug Whaley, whose only apparent qualification to be a GM is the fact that... he is one. And then of course there's Martha Ford, who not only hired Jim Caldwell but also didn't fire him the first chance she had. Oh, and lest we forget walking cocaine dispenser Jim Irsay, who is determined to keep Chuck Pagano around until Andrew Luck is in a body cast and eats through a straw.

I don't know; as much as I despise Snyder, I think he may have given up his "Worst NFL Owner" throne to one of these a**holes.
