Has anybody else contemplated how many people will commit suicide, not wanting to live through "the end of the world"?

Remember there were "suicide parties" (quote unquote) during Y2K. Watching the news will be interesting, to say the least, on the 22nd.

That is odd to think about. Somewhere in the US there are people sweating, full of anxiety, dreading tomorrow. I honestly hope no one commits suicide, but it wouldn't be the first doomsday cult mass suicide thing. I just wonder what will go through the minds of those who really believe this when the clock hits 12:01 am, and they're just fine.

I read that churches, chapels, and synagougues are going to be open all night due to the massive panic.

Now I am actually concerned that those people are going to force their way into my house on the 22nd and say I was the scarred one and enorce mob will upon me because now they believe they have all the answers because they believe they overcame it, blah blah blah. That's okay though, I have a little surprise waiting for just such a threat.

When the end doesn't come as predicted, the people who are terrified of it, anticipating it, rooting for it, will simply shake off their relief or disappointment and select another arbitrary date for Armageddon. That's what people have done time and again since these doomsday crazes started back in the 1st Century.

I'm playing Skyrim and drinking diet-coke as I wait for the end, which I guess isn't as cinematic or cool as anything that happened in '2012' the crappy, bloated, soon-to-be-completely-irrelevant blockbuster. I vote for a Zombie Apocalypse starting on the 21st...

If anyone commits suicide because of this Mayan calendar thing, I would suggest they are best removed from the gene pool anyway.

This reminds me of a story: Does anyone remember the 'Heaven's Gate' cult in the 90's that committed mass suicide in black jump-suits and Nikes because they thought they'd go on the Haley-Bopp comet? My mom was picking up a TIME magazine with the faces of some of the members after it happened and recognized one of her best friends from Highschool that she'd long lost touch with. She practically had a heart-attack in the store.

Why does it have to be midnight just cause the day starts?,IF anything happens it could be at any time for all we know,It could start in the afternoon in Mexico and then go around the world through the rest of the day!!

Oh and I never got the whole"world ends or nothing happens"POV,There are literally hundreds of theories of what may happen But people choose to focus on the biggest one!!

Personally I don't think the world will"end"But I don't think nothing at all will happen either,Just don't see the end of an era and start of a new going unnoticed with no effects.

There's a huge reason the world will not end, Man of Steel is out in June 2013 and nothing is gonna stop me from seeing it.
