24: Legacy

Not sure why the lead always has to be female, black, or Latino when showrunners talk about being diverse. Why couldn't it be Asian/Pacific Islander, Native American, or a foreign-born naturalized American citizen?

Because Hollywood needs to walk before it can run. :o

For the vast majority of left-progressive race activists, who are really the only people who notice things like this, Asians don't count for anything, unless they're female sex objects.

Real progress is just holding a casting session and let the best audition win, not setting out to cast a specific race or gender.

That's a good idea and theory, and works very well if you're a hockey team in need of a new goaltender, but acting is so subjective and by nature appearance-focused, that if you want to see more diversity, you have to create roles with that in mind.

If you're going to reboot 24 entirely, a better idea would be to take the 24 hour concept and apply it to something other than terrorism. We've already had several seasons of that.

I was also open to the proposed spinoff with Kate Morgan (Yvonne Strahovski), but apparently that didn't pan out.

"We've got 24 hours to write a report on core inflation projections for the Federal Reserve! But none of our econometrics models have taken into account the updated purchasing managers index in China! This is go time, people!"

Firstly, I want Jack Bauer's story to come to some kind of conclusion! . . . something like him being freed or rescued but losing a limb or such and clearly unable to perform as the top agent we have seen in the past.

THEN . . .

I want to see how Dexter Morgan has progressed.

Asian = white to Hollywood.
Is it? If true, just shows that progressive Hollywood is as backwards as anywhere else, if not more. Going for either black or Latino when looking for diversity while not considering other types of lead is just as myopic as only casting whites and feels more like pandering than anything else.

If they're going to force a character, no matter what race, instead of just picking someone who can fit the part, then it already is going to fail. They already have Bauer not being in it going against them.

Yeah Im not sure this could work without Keither the only way this would work is if they had Kate Morgan pretty much taking over the series because that's pretty much what they were building up to in the last Installment. The only other way this could of worked is if it followed Tony but IDK about New Casting.

Lmao, I was going to try to put on a brave face and be all positive, I can see everyone pretty much is on board with my true feelings.

24 without Jack/Keifer isn't 24. Call it something else and move on, or don't make the show. Simple as that.

UNLESS Jack's return is some kind of secret, considering how Live Another Day ended.

I can't get behind this idea until they at least bring Jack back home.

Just change the name of the show to CTU: "whatever area they're in"

24 IS Jack Bauer

Now if the first season of this series is about them sending in a team to save Jack then I can also get behind this. But if Jack is still being held captive and then have no plans to save him and pardon him after they save him then they need to change the name of the show.

Spot on Superman. And of course Chloe O'Brian would need to be part of the team!

Don't know about this casting. There's just something about his face (mainly his eyes and skinny head for me) that is odd and makes him not look or feel right as a leading character in a franchise like 24.

I want to stay open minded, and I hope it works out, but I'm not liking the fact he's not an already established character, is he? That's not to say it can't still turn out good, but it's going to be a hard sell bringing in a completely unknown character to take over a much loved series like 24, from a character as iconic as Jack Bauer.

I feel like they'd have better luck calling the series something else, and just setting it in the 24 world if Fox really want it to be related that badly. They're going for brand recognition of course, which is just as likely (if not more so) to have a negative effect than a positive one. More "This is not the 24 I love!" and less "Ohh, 24, this oughta be good!"

24:Legacy.
Well, heck The Bourne Legacy worked out didn't it?
Wait a minute...

I'm not TOTALLY opposed to continuing the 24 world without Jack but am I the only one wants some freaking CLOSURE with his story?? I mean, who actually thinks the way Live Another Day ended was a proper conclusion to Jack's story? After 9 seasons of the guy saving the world and losing damn near everyone he cares about in the process, his story ends with him being sent to a Russian prison to suffer a lifetime of torture? Are people actually ok with this type of ending?
