24: Legacy

I'm not TOTALLY opposed to continuing the 24 world without Jack but am I the only one wants some freaking CLOSURE with his story?? I mean, who actually thinks the way Live Another Day ended was a proper conclusion to Jack's story? After 9 seasons of the guy saving the world and losing damn near everyone he cares about in the process, his story ends with him being sent to a Russian prison to suffer a lifetime of torture? Are people actually ok with this type of ending?

The sad thing is, I always thought the original ending pre-Live Another Day worked beautifully. Then they made Live Another Day, and left it with a crummy ending (assuming there's no follow up).

If things go well, they will probably tease Jacks fate as part of the next installment.
Maybe.

I guess if the story for the new show revolved around Jack in some way, that could work pretty well. Like the guy is tasked with breaking Jack out for some reason. At the very least it could be a good way to introduce a new hero, and end Jack's story in a decent way.

I doubt the story's gonna revolve around Jack, they're making it pretty clear that this is a fresh start for the series. Plus, Kiefier more or less implied he's done playing the role :(

Which really sucks. I felt like one more Jack Bauer event series would have been perfect to tie things up. Let's also remember, Tony is now out there.

Miranda Otto Cast
Otto will star as Rebecca Ingram, the blazing smart former head of CTU. Now married to Sen. John Donovan (not yet cast), she struggles with second thoughts about having left the counter-terrorism agency.

She was fantastic in Homeland Season 5.

Sorry Saul... Alison's back! :awesome:

I didn't like either of them. I thought they traded one ending that doesn't work for another one that doesn't work.

Agreed. Both endings were underwhelming conclusions to Jack's story.

“There’s a time jump, a new organization, a completely different story,” Fox co-chairman and CEO Dana Walden teased last week. “It’s a contemporary story about the potential to activate sleeper cells in the United States. There are nods in the pilot to prior CTU agents, but no ongoing characters.”

Glad to know it's still in the same universe.

oh, yeah, having Jimmy Smits in this works for ME... not sure about Teddy Sears, though...

Yes, true. However I think the overall message with Jack could be that 'it never ends'. He's always going to be a man of action. He's always going to captured by someone, and he'll escape or be rescued. Either way, he's always in jeopardy and finding a way to endure. We don't see his ending point, we just cut away from the action in progress. But indeed, I'm not on board with this spinoff. I have a long association with 24. As a youngster eagerly anticipating every episode from season one onwards. Sitting up at night and cooking popcorn. But alas, those heady days are over.

Series Ordered

Sutherland being an EP says to me that we're in for a Bauer appearance at some point.

Bauer is undoubtedly going to be on the show at some point. My question is, will Tony? 24 Live Another Day's DVD epilogue certainly implied that something is going on with Tony. He is working with someone to break out of prison. It would be very cool if he played a role in the series (perhaps as the season big bad). Of course, that could wind up very convoluted, especially for a reboot.

Tony is probably likely to show up in a future season, maybe 2 or 3 after they've established this new cast. He's one of the few they can use that's still alive.

Kiefer is the star and executive producer of ABC's Designated Survivor where he plays the president. Maybe he has enough pull to have a guest spot on 24: Legacy. Networks are pretty stingy on their stars appearing on other networks. If that show fails then expect Bauer to be back at some point but it would be great if they kept it quiet and was a surprise.

‘24: Legacy’ To Premiere After Super Bowl On Fox, Will Air Mondays

24: Legacy will launch with a two-night premiere. Monday, February 6 at 8 PM, the night after the Super Bowl, will mark 24: Legacy’s return to the night where the original series aired for most of its run (but at a different time, 9 PM).

The series chronicles a race against the clock to stop a devastating terrorist attack on United States soil – in the original’s signature real-time format but in half the number of episodes, 12. Starring Corey Hawkins, Miranda Otto and Jimmy Smits, 24: Legacy is executive produced by the original series’ Howard Gordon, Brian Grazer, Manny Coto and Evan Katz; director Stephen Hopkins; and 24 star Kiefer Sutherland.

Maybe it's intentional but the lead guy looks REALLY young. So glad to see Allison Otto too! I was half expecting to see Saul and Carrie pop in there somewhere! :funny:

Jimmy Smits!

Looks way better than I was expecting. I'm looking forward to it!

It looks ok but it could have been totally original, the 24 branding is a cheap attempt to get Bauer fans to watch, only without him it's pointless. The only thread I see is he's got Jack's bag.
