From /film:

A 24-year-old man shot and killed himself at the Regal Cinemas in Eugene, Oregon during a late night screening of Zack Snyder’s Watchmen. According to KMTR, there were about 10 other people in the theater at the time. The yet-to-be-named man was seated in the back corner of the theater. Police were called after patrons heard a loud “popping sound” behind them, and reported it to the theater managers. The screening was stopped and ticket purchases were refunded. Thanks to /Film reader Yaycha for the tip.

Wow, pretty random.

Guess he really wanted to see the squid

I can just imagine the people who hated the movie reading this and making dumb comments.

Maybe he should've watched a happier movie.

Hope his last words were "mother, forgive me"

Midway into the movie?

Jeez...I guess the sex scene was worse than I thought!

He should've asked for a refund if he didn't like the movie. There's no reason to kill himself over it. :o

Wow, didn't know the movie was that bad.

This is the second Watchmen board I've been to today where people just make random jokes. It's really not all that funny.

This reminds me of the Simpsons where someone starts making jokes about a man who died and Marge goes "May I remind you a man just died?" and then gets the joke and starts laughing herself.

Man goes to doctor, says "I feel horrible. Want to kill myself." Doctor says "Great movie in theatres, called Watchmen. Should go see it, make you feel better." Man says "But doctor, Who watches the Watchmen?"

Everybody laughs. Roll on snare. Curtains.

wow, that was weird
i remember of something like this happen before for another movie

That's what Alan Moore was actually thinking when watching the movie

Not condemning or condoning, just some thoughts:

I have a pretty sick sense of humor myself, but I always find the death of young folk to be really pretty brutal and disturbing. I've gone to four funerals now and I'm 22. None of these people were any older than I am now when they passed. When someone dies or kills themselves, it really hits hard, and I can't even imagine being in the same room when someone does it, or having it happen in one's work-place, somewhere many of us go from 9-5, five days a week.

And on that note, I'll admit that some of these comments are pretty hilarious. One of those four mentioned above was my best friend (ever, and will probably remain that way, no pun intended) and he had a really awful sense of humor. Abortion, racism(across the whole spectrum, including white people of course), necrophilia, old people, terminal illnesses(this is how he died) were all fair game for him and as he was dying these things continued to be fair game. Sometimes ya just gotta separate reality from the jokes, no matter how awful, we make to get through it.

well I lol'd.

no one killed themselves over the spirit

HEYYYOOO

For some reason I just picture the guy shooting himself in the head, and some guy turns around and says "Oh come on, it's not THAT bad."

damn some of you guys are harsh, i actually didnt find it funny until i read the squid comment haha.

But wow how disturbing, its one thing to kill yourself but in a cinema??? Sad!
