its happened in the books (didn't it?) i don't understand why folks don't want it to happen.
As long as he doesn't transform into Beta Ray Steve, I am fine.
I don't know about the others here, but for me, I would rather see Cap picking up Mjolnir saved for a future Avengers film, not tossed into this first one.
It should feel like a very big and significant moment, when/if he does it. It should be built towards, not gotten out of the way too quickly. There's too much else going on in Avengers 1, I don't want to see the significance of it lost in the shuffle.
Also: Thor's movie did a good job of establishing that not just anyone can pick it up, the person has to be worthy. But in that movie, the only people we saw trying to pick it up were Loki (villain), regular Earth dudes, and Thor, who was temporarily denied and who then got it back again by the end.
I think, though, that to a certain extent, the makers of The Avengers have to proceed as if a good portion of the audience hasn't necessarily seen all of the lead-up movies. So, people who have seen THOR know why anyone but Thor picking up Mjolnir is a big deal. Not everyone watching The Avengers will have seen THOR, though. So it would be better in Avengers 1 to establish that even
other heroes cannot pick it up. That way, the audience for an Avengers movie will also really get why Cap being able to lift it and use it is a pretty big thing.
