The Avengers 3 Things you WORRY about happenining in the Avengers...

1)The Hulk getting shafted - yet again

2))One character getting more lime light than the other *cough* Iron Man/Downey

3)The movie sucks - which puts all the set up movies leading to this in a different perspective

My only real reassurance for this is that Whedon is directing. The guy's never failed me. Johnston was a big problem for me when he was announced and as expected the movie wasn't mind-blowing. I think even if Whedon directs the entire movie with Feige riding on his back like Yoda in Empire, it'll be a good movie & much better than Cap.

These aren't so much 'worries' as 'things that I hope don't happen'.

1: It doesn't make it's budget back.

2: It's not a good movie.

3: It hurts other characters if the above two happen.

1.) Iron Man being leader for the whole movie JUST because he's most popular
2.) Hulk getting shafted
3.) It's Short (Though, this is the one I'm least scared of since Marvel probably knows event films like this are supposed to be long)

Marvel (Feige) has a really bad track record with running time. They butchered TIH hoping to amp the popcorn factor & cut Thor's run time significantly just to get more showings per day. I'm trying to stay hopeful that Whedon will design a film Feige can't possibly destroy in the editing room, but its Feige we're talking about and in his brain a CBM over 2 hours is bad for business (the guy hasn't seen TDK).

good man, AB, did Feige eat your cat while insulting your grandma?
You know, that bashing really get's annoying after a week or so.

Lurking this thread has been fun. Apparently, Feige molsted Alexei Belyakov as a young child.

My worries:
1) Cap's modern day transition being pushed aside early on
2) Banner vs. Hulk screen time
3) Joss Whedon perhaps being too awesome for GA's mind, random seizures in theaters

The guy ruined what woulda been a great Hulk franchise, lost us Edward Norton & Jon Favreau, reduced the quality of every subsequent film after Iron Man and is pretty much the embodiment of the brain-dead Hollywood producer. A stereotype that at this day in age with so many creative minds in the business should be a thing of the past. The guy has no understanding for film as an art-form. To him its all about money. So yeah, its a huge problem for me to have this guy running the show for these beloved characters that really have no way around his stupidity. Even if Whedon makes a great film, this guy can easily chop it up and turn it into popcorn.

-Hulk or Cap lifting Mjolnir

Agreed.

It was bad enough someone other than Tony was wearing the armor in IM2, they don't need to continue having other people using other weapons.

Same goes for someone picking up and throwing Caps shield.

Ah yes, no new villains. i want someone from the comics

Without Feige there would be no show to run. Also: It is interesting that you know what REALLY happens between Norton and Marvel or Favreau and Marvel and that IT ALL WAS FEIGES FAULT!!!
But enough of that, I'm growing tired of reading your posts because none of them making much sense, I'll use this post instead to state a few more worries of mine

.) Whedon not capable of making a good movie
.) bland characterizations
.) Loki as the only villain

other people are other people, they don't influence me not liking crappy movies.
rotten tomatoes doesn't change my concerns at all.

anyway. marvel knows what they are doing. so I fully trust them.

May I ask what you consider a good movie?

1. Robert Downey Jr. getting all the screentime
2. Villains are that easy to beat
3. Loki being the main villain, he's good but c'mon he was already in Thor

1. The movie becoming the "Robert Downey Jr Show" (I seriously LOVE the guy but I understand how too much of a good thing can be a negative!)

2. Black Widow being demoted to the role of "eye candy". As the ONLY female member of The Avengers, I don't want to see such a cool character and kick ass female get shafted again like she did in Iron Man 2! I also think Scarlett is an AMAZING actress and would be a waste of her talent to see her sidelined.

3. The movie's plot becoming bogged down and confused due to the number of characters fighting for screentime.

1. Poorly written hero character conflict. - With four heroes, they all conflict with each other. I can see this becoming incredibly poorly written. It needs to find that right level of there not arguing with each other, but there not agreeing with each other either.

2. Anyone being the leader, at times I feel the avengers are different because there is certain scenarios where they all should be leading. I hope they don't just make Cap the leader, and that they are a team and not done hierarchy style where there is a definitive leader, I want constant conflict, I feel this is what separates the avengers say from Fantastic Four or even X-Men.

3. The Hulk done poorly - Two movies, both have never really shown the reason that Banner conflicts with the hulk. I mean realistically the Hulk in either movie didn't "destroy" anymore than the other guys did. It's just hulk did it where there wasn't a clear cut villain. Although you could argue Ross was the villain. I hope he returns too btw.

May I ask what you consider a good movie?
Ther are many factors that make a good movie. Characters I care for and are not just walking stereotypes, a convincing and somewhat original plot even within the boundaries of it's genre, good acting, good editing (bad editing can take me out of a movie really fast, Serenity was a hack job on that department), a nice pace, a somewhat clear direction, not too much emphasis on action scenes to a degree that they overshadow the story, substance over style (this is where Whedon has to learn a few things), the right mood for the setting and a couple of others. Or did you want examples?

Why can't Avengers use each other's weapons? Thor's hammer I can understand, but if someone wants to throw Cap's shield, or wear one of Stark's armour, then whatever! It's a crossover movie!

Hulk shouldn't be able to pick up Thor's hammer, however CA should.

its happened in the books (didn't it?) i don't understand why folks don't want it to happen.

As long as he doesn't transform into Beta Ray Steve, I am fine.

Hulk should wear Thor's helmet though...

I don't know about the others here, but for me, I would rather see Cap picking up Mjolnir saved for a future Avengers film, not tossed into this first one.

It should feel like a very big and significant moment, when/if he does it. It should be built towards, not gotten out of the way too quickly. There's too much else going on in Avengers 1, I don't want to see the significance of it lost in the shuffle.

Also: Thor's movie did a good job of establishing that not just anyone can pick it up, the person has to be worthy. But in that movie, the only people we saw trying to pick it up were Loki (villain), regular Earth dudes, and Thor, who was temporarily denied and who then got it back again by the end.

I think, though, that to a certain extent, the makers of The Avengers have to proceed as if a good portion of the audience hasn't necessarily seen all of the lead-up movies. So, people who have seen THOR know why anyone but Thor picking up Mjolnir is a big deal. Not everyone watching The Avengers will have seen THOR, though. So it would be better in Avengers 1 to establish that even other heroes cannot pick it up. That way, the audience for an Avengers movie will also really get why Cap being able to lift it and use it is a pretty big thing.

1. Hulk being reduced to a plot device with barely a word spoken

2. The story being sub par

3. The movie being trunkated

Yes, in the comic books Steve Rogers - CA, has been shown worthy to pick up Mjolnir.

As long as he doesn't transform into Beta Ray Steve, I am fine.

I think that would definitely confuse the GA. :yay:

1.Hulk vs Thor fight being short.
2. It being like the Ultimate Avengers cartoon movie.
3.The action scenes being anything less than epic this is there most ambitious movie yet.
