33.1 Storyline Placement

Does anyone else have a slight problem with where along the SV timeline they've placed this arc with Lex and 33.1?

It just seemed to come out of nowhere this season, especially considering there's been so few meteor freaks and stories in the series since Season 5.

Thoughts?

It hadn't bothered me, considering Lex had this going on in secret, and eventually people slip up and things come out in the open...in this case it was this season that one of them escaped, making it slightly known to others....plus the fact that Oliver had been investigation and sabatoging the project, presumably even during what would have been season 5.

Maybe the reason why they've disappeared from the storyline of Clark fighting them is because Lex has them all in captivity.

Well, yeah that would explain that. It's just for me, for some odd reason, I feel like this 33.1 thing should've been handled at least two years back when Lex was still obviously obsessed with the meteors and their effects. It just seemed like we were slowly moving away from that and moreso towards wondering what's out there in space (after Fine and the black ship), but now we're suddenly back to Level 33.1 for no apparent reason.
