Any reason why the film is not being released in 3D? I was sure it was going to as a given.

The word on the street is that it was pulled in favor of doing extensive reshoots instead. Given that the film went over twenty million dollars over budget, I'm inclined to think there's some truth to it.

Why are they reshooting scenes? Thought it was post-production until August.

Reshoots were already done. The official word from Simon Kinberg is that only 3-4 days of additional filming were going to happen, but there's plenty of evidence (discussed quite heavily in other threads, so I won't get too heavily into that discussion here) that this was a lie.

I'd rather they reshoot the entire film and do it right than release garbage in 3D. Can they edit out the costumes too while they're at it?

There are multiple rumors. One says that the movie was so light on action that they had to reshoot the most of (if not the entire) third act to add more action scenes.

Another says that everything Trank shot was so bad, that they had to reshoot much of film; up to 4 months of reshoots. This, in addition to having to do extensive patch jobs to his failed VFX experiments.

Can you post the link to the thread you're referring to?

I think its actually that he wasted two months as he thought he could save money my doing some of the simple CGI himself to save money for a real studio to do the big stuff. But it failed big time and when the studio found out they had to bring in a second CGI studio to do the stuff the stuff Trank thought he could do. SO it ended up wasting a load of time and costing the studio a lot more. And that was before the reshoots were ordered.

No, as it was the main thread and I don't keep notes on when particular things happened. The "Reborn" thread will have most of the news (or lack thereof) stuff, though I recommend liquor before you read it.

Thanks for the heads up!

Also note that they are 20M overbudget, related to their former announced budget. There's good reason to believe that initial budget was a lie, and the real budget was actually *much* lower. Its possible the budget overrun is *much* higher than 20M, particularly given the primary shoot was only, what, two and a half months?

To add to this, Fox has a history of telling lies about their "big budget" movies. Dragonball Evolution also was said to have a hundred million dollar budget, and they spent less than a third of that. Early reports also insinuated that DoFP would have a slightly larger budget than it really had. Also important to note that the $120,000,000+ number we now have is after tax breaks, so it actually went well over twenty million over.
