6.02 - Sneeze - Discussion Thread

Thought JH was cool. He played both scenes well (though I agree that TPTB are playing Ollie more like Bruce, which doesn't really make a lot of sense. They're both billionaires with no superpowers, but their philosophies are quite different.) I think the problem in the last scene wasn't Justin, but the random actor playing his assisstant.

I think that was Green Arrow's future sidekick Speedy/Roy Harper .

Agreed. I have to watch Sneeze again, but my first impression of his performance is that it was poor. (I never downloaded the Aquaman pilot, so this is the first time I really got to see him act. Trailers don't count.)

I'll give him this much though, he's a nice looking man and he's got a smokin' bod. I won't mind watching him, provided he doesn't talk much (LOL), which is something I can't even say about... Oh, n'mind. :p

Well, I won't talk about *that* thing you're referring to, don't like getting my wrist slapped...

Hartley did much better in the Aquaman pilot (I did download it) than he did here. I'm hoping the scene with the minion is the exception rather than the rule for him...

I don't think anyone can complain about his bod or his looks. He's definitely going to provide some pretty decent eye candy, but I hope that isn't all he'll be.

I always got the feeling that Lois *isn't* fond of writing. It sort of goes hand in hand with her various characterizations of having poor grammar and being a bad speller.

Lois Lane isn't about writing; she's about investigative reporting. She, like Chloe, wants to get to the bottom of things. She wants to uncover the truth. Chloe has the better writing skills, but I believe Lois will prove she has the better drive. Something along those lines.

Here is the main reason Why I The comics, Lois became a reporter.

Excatly, I agree with this 100% .

So much happened in this episode. I cant believe it! I think it was a bigger set up for the season than Zod.

I need to watch it again, before I can put my thoughts together.

But I did love watching Clark huff and puff. :D

hey, i missed the ep. Was Chloe jealous about Lois getting a front page story?

If there is a god in heaven, the wicked witch Lana dies a very horrible, painful death. Who cares what Clark's reasoning is to help Lex you idiot!! He has saved you and Lex's ass how many times?:cmad: @$#& off!!!!!

Whilst I agree with you on this point and I felt like scratching her eyes out, on reflection I think what they are setting up for Lana who no longer appears to have any emotional attachment to Clark, is a wiser and more cluey brain.

Clark asked her if she had spoken to Lex about him knowing that he was going to be possessed by Zod. She immediately said NO. And although she's very angry with Clark at the moment, I think she's going to start to realise just what is going on, all by herself.

I couldnt figure out a reason why they showed us Lana making a call to Chloe and only speaking to her voice mail. There was a miraculous rescue for Lex and Lana and it happened not too soon after Lana told Chloe where she was.

And with regards to Clark having ulteria motives, Lionel did only tell him at first that Lex was missing. Clark said that Lex and I have nothing to do with each other any more.

Then Lionel informed him that he had been kidnapped. Even though Lionel had pointed out that Clark's secret might come out, I do believe that Clark is not the sort of person to sit by and let somebody be kidnapped and tortured.

Agreed. Despite what others have said, the new power angle was the best part of the episode for me. I love how the SV FX folks have upped the bar too. They always come up with great ways to show how Clark's powers manifest themselves. Things like "Clark time" - as simple as it is - shows he's moving so fast, everybody else appears to be standing still. X-Ray vision is shown as actual X-rays and in black and white, which is smart since that part of the spectrum doesn't have "color." Heat vision is seen as actual heat waves, not laser beams. Duh! Makes sense. Flight of course was the best, the take-off of which in Crusade seemed to involve some kind of gravity and matter distortion. That was awesome stuff. They repeated that effect in Zod. And now superbreath - it aint just huffing and puffing and seeing a cone of smoky air ala Lois&Clark. ;)

Not at all. I think she was kind of proud of Lois, even though it was not a huge accomplishment. The story may have been on the front page, but it was the Inquisitor, and the editor (who wasn't identified, btw - interesting) convinced her to punch it up with the aliens angle. Nice.

Totally agree, but you know the writers had to add that little caveat to justify Lana and any counter argument that Clark was only looking out for himself, which of course is complete BS. Remember Duplicity?

Pete: Hamilton tried to kill me and he could have told the whole world about you, but you still tried to save him.
Clark: Well, Pete, I couldn't let you die to protect my secret, and I can't let anyone else die either. No matter who they are.

^ A.) Bandwidth Exceeded on all of them
B.) Kal Kai's come out sharp and without the blockiness, so...

The guy playing OQ must've been one of the shyttiest actors I've seen on SV so far.

BTW, I'm not dissing the character - but that dude seriously needs acting lessons.

I also think that Chloe was trying to protect Clark, which is why she scoffed Lois's article to begin with.

I was just over at DeKnights blog and people are saying that they're glad Lana called him on his BS and that he was being totally selfish.

Whilst I'm happy to see Lana confront him with her issues, I cant see how Clark was being selfish, even if his only motive was trying to stop his secret from getting out.

Isnt the guy entitled to some privacy? :whatever:

I thought the episode was alright. Not great. I'm still getting used to the openness that now exists between Lionel & Clark. But I enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to what Green Arrow has in mind.

i thought this was a good episode (not great) that served it's purpose of introducing The Green Arrow and Clarks new power. I think that Lana is really turning into a ***** now but in a way, i can understand her reasons.

I got to disagree with you there pat, not watch the eps but i know at least justine can act, go watch the aquaman pilot, and please the only guess star who can't act to save his life ws the original aquaman.

^ I'm only going by what I've seen. He didn't impress me all that much last night. But I'm hoping it's just new show-ites. I'm not writing him off or anything - not yet anyway. And he IS nice to look at, so there's a plus there. I'd be hacking and slaying if he didn't at least have that advantage. LOL :D

I always find Smallville to be more coherent on subsequent viewings. There was so much crammed into last night's episode I couldnt really get past the basics of what was happening.

Clark's discussion with Lionel about Lex wasnt as dismissive as it may have appeared on a first viewing. His attitude was right in line with where their relationship stands at present.

I applauded Clark in fact. :yay:

Lois's so called "lightswitch" into writing the article was laid out and set up better than what I've seen claimed around the sites.

Chloe was merely trying to protect Clark, which is why she was scoffing Lois about her article.

I really enjoyed Ollie's introduction. He's cocky, but ambiguous enough to not know what he's up to and his final scene was all about Clark. Love that!

Lex laid it out straight that he isnt going to allow Lana to turn him from the path that he has laid out for himself.

Lana looked like she has to put up or shut up, or maybe she has her own reasons for hanging around.

Lionel, does he really think that Lex maybe remembers everything or is he goading Clark for other reasons.

It was all a well put together set up for the first half of the season.

Cant wait to see what happens with it all.

..... oh and I loved Clark and Chloe in this episode. That's exactly how I want to see their duo work together.

great episode.. :)

sneeze #1 and 2 almost topped tractor throwing.. :)

do you think taht this is the season Lana finds out about Clark?

Pat, Hulk wheres Triplet these days?

I kinda hope so. Their constant tiptoeing around each other is getting annoying.
But then again, she might feel obligated to tell Lex.

maybe, Lex will manipulate her into finding out about Clark. Like Lionel did to Chloe Truth?

I thought that was great the way that her epiphany about journalism came about because something fell out of the sky.

Now her and Perry have something in common. :woot:
