7 new Spider-Man 3 clips

cmill,

It'll definitely be interesting to see what Nolan does. I do believe that he's gotten off to a much better start than Raimi did with the first Spider-Man film.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Rachel, Crane, and a few others. But, with Nolan, I have no worries whatsoever.

Which reminds me: I've spotted Slag over in the RT forums. :wow:

RT forums?? Where's that??

I miss Slag, Daisy, Symbiotica, Larrylegend, and ol' Norman there. All the greats from the good old days.

I couldn't wait so I watched the Restaurant clip. Bryce Dallas Howard definitely stole the show in that scene.

they zoom in on a quick CLOSE-UP of Peter's face, and even though it's quick, it's pretty obvious that it's CG, it looks exstremely cartoonish!!! I hate that! Wanna know why!??? Because later in the clip just when Harry yells "SHUUUUT UP!", and rips off the wall with Peter still on it, we see MORE NEW STUFF (that wasn't in the 7 minute clip!) where we actually see Peter falling and flipping around along with the debree, trying to stay on it!!!! Right there we zoom in AGAIN where it MUST be CG because they dont change camera angle in that entire shot! However it doesn't look CG at all!!! We see Peter's face when we zoom in, and it looks flawless!

I saw the same thing. I even put 'pause' and it was Peter's face, flawless CGI ever. Remember that the last scene of Doc Ock in Spidey 2, when he's above the water is also CGI. So yes, I bet that last shot of Peter in the wall zooming to his face, is CGI. PERFECT CGI.

D!

dye,

I don't know if it was perfect. If you can tell it's 100% CG, then how can you say it's perfect?

The goal is for it to be so realistic in its execution that you won't be able to tell whether it's Tobey or CG Tobey. That's goal. That shot doesn't achieve that.

anyone know a good flv player? thats possible good and free or easy crack not that i would or anything...:whatever:

the Trilogy curse for Superhero films has not yet been broken but from the very beginning, the Spidey films have been very successful. Sam has combined great storylines from the Comics and used them as well as his own storyline which is good because that is what a Superhero film needs. Spidey1 grossed more than the second film but yet the second film grossed alot of money to gain it one of the best films ever. now Spidey3 is looking to top the first two films and break the Trilogy curse unlike the X-men films which failed at the third X-men film. but some films are different than others and have certain qualities in them that pull the audiance in which is something the Spidey films had and quite frankly I think Spidey3 will have something very big that pulls the audiance in as well which is why I believe this film will break the Trilogy curse.

OK, you're right. But somehow you or me, or most people in this forums, can tell whether is CGI or not. I bet if my dad or any of my friends see that, they wouldn't even notice is CGI. That's where I'm aiming at with my post.

Crane's coming back? Hmm. I didn't know that.

And I have to say: Maggie G is a MAJOR upgrade over Holmes. Though, why couldn't the female lead be from the comics?? I could never understand that.

Rotten Tomatoes.

And I'll give you Slag, Goblin, and LL (those guys are class acts), but in my time here I was never a big fan of Sym or Daisy. Although the former was certainly entertaining in her sheer ability to argue with the greatest of bravado.

must.....watch......but.....dont...want....to....spoil.....self!!! AHHHH!!!

Agreed!

That's what I dont understand!.... How the HELL can it be CG and look 110% REAL, and than in that other quick close-up in the begining, it looks rather FAKE!!! How the hell can there be that big of a CG differents in this film!???? that's what I HATE!

But honnestly, I just dont see that face when we zoom in on Peter on the falling debree to be CG! It looks too damn real!

OMG! Norman!!

So good to see you around again, buddy. It's been a dog's age. I thought you'd completely abandoned ship here.

Sort of, I've been away .. er ... in Europe. :o :csad: ; still check in now and again. :cwink: Anyway , good to see ya ole chap! Hope you are well.

RT forums?? Where's that??

I think he means
rotten 'maters

EDIT: CMILL got it.

ps: organics still suck! :D

The first close-up shot in the begining of the clip looks rather CG, I agree... But the shot where Peter is falling on the debree and we zoom in on his face it looks 110% REAL!! CG or not, it's Tobey!!! That shot is incredible, because it's taken in one entire shot (never cuts ones!), and then after the debree has flipped around and we see from a distance that Peter is trying to stay on it, we then zoom in on a close-up and that is definitly Tobey! It's flawless!

Okay, Temp and Chibi, but why do people keep saying SM3 is going to BREAK the curse? Return of the King, Return of the Jedi. Two good to great films that held up their respective trilogies.

I actually thought "Return of the Jedi" was massively disappointing, sure it wrapped everything up in a neat little bow but it seemed like Kasdan and Lucas weren't trying hard enough to deliver on all fronts. It had a few things going for it, namely John Williams's score and Carrie Fisher in a slave girl outfit. (I'm not a rabid Star Wars fan but I do like the films to a degree.)

But "Return of the King" was spectacular -- a great capper to a great trilogy... I would venture to say that it surpasses the the original "Star Wars" trilogy in terms of consistency and entertainment value. I would also mention "Harry Potter" (each one has been good), but since it's a planned septology of films, it wouldn't be fair to judge the franchise as a whole until the seventh film comes out.

"Spider-Man 3" looks very good and I hope I'm not disappointed, but the clips I've seen have been spectacular and I hope that bodes true for the rest of the film as well. And I hope they're saving the best scenes for people who actually go to see it...

And regarding the "overabundance" of clips that I've seen some people complain about: sure, they've REALLY shown a lot.

But do keep in mind: this is a (supposedly) 156 minute film. So far, they've shown roughly around 20 minutes of it through all of the footage, clips, TV spots, and trailers. There's more than plenty of goodness our eyes haven't seen.

Naite22,

It may look exactly like Tobey, which is the desired effect, but it has to look realistic and it doesn't. Like alot of visual effects shots of beings in these films, it looked rubbery.

It can't be just about getting it to look exactly like a character. It's got to look extremely real and those particular shots don't. It looks like a rubber version of Tobey Maquire. I don't consider that great CG.

I'm agreeing with you on a lot of things lately... But on this very shot you must be out of your mind!!! (no offence, SERIOUSLY!)... Dude, are you absolutely SURE that you know which shot I'm talking about!!????? have you seen the CLEAR IGN-version of the clip??? it is DEFINITLY Tobey, I was so impressed when I saw that shot!!! It doesn't look CG one bit, it looks absolutely REAL... I'm looking at it in pause-mode this very second! I dont know if you're some kind of expert on the subject, but seriously, to me, this looks 100% real.... Try to look at it one more time, and pause it.. It's TOBEY!

Naite22,

I haven't looked at the higher resolution clips over at IGN yet. Let me look and see if I change my mind.

^please do so!!!!! I couldn't follow you in a million years IF you have the same thoughts after seeing it.... It really looks 100% believable... and I AM pretty good at beeing critical when it comes to the effects... however on this shot, I can't say a thing.

Naite22,

The dead giveaway on that shot is the skin texture and the eyes...especially the eyes. They're dead. That's why I say Davy Jones is a revelation because his eyes are 100% CG and they are totally real. They don't look dead.

The close up of Tobey, his eyes are dead.....there's no life to them and that's usually a dead giveaway that its CG.

i must control myself and NOT watch these clips.

i've seen too much.

may 4th, 12:05am can't come any sooner.

Ha! 12:05? Do you mean the midnight show on May 3rd?

My midnight show is 12:01.:p
