8.04 - Instinct - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Clark said that Jor-El created Brainiac. I thought some old Kryptonian guy named Dax-Ur, who ran his own auto shop in the country, created brainiac.

Yeah, I enjoyed this episode far more than last week, which is really surprising. But the Lois and Clark relationship this year is just so amazingly strong. Erica Durance has really raised her game this season.

Yeah, why did Clark run away from Lex's subordinate with no jacket on, but save Lois from Maxima with a red jacket on<in the very next scene>? Did he drop by the Daily Planet and get it first?

Also, bear with my confusion, but does Superman lie? Didn't he lie to Lex's subordinate when she asked him about the crystal or am I missing something? I thought Boy Blue didn't lie.

This show is confusing me.:cmad::csad:

Dude its like cheating on your wife: you never fess up to it becuase if you do, it just opens up a can of worms. Just lie and noone gets hurts. :o

Ahhhhhh i wasn't able tot see the last 5 minutes. What happened?

ya, what was he suppose to do, tell her the its his crystal, and all about how he's an alien

"boy blue" lies all the time, but, usually only to protect people, or his secret

Wondering if that message from "X" is really Lex, it was a very nice twist.

:huh:Ah Dude Clark kent is the greatest liar of his generation, he has been lieing to numerous people for years to keep his secret[sometimes to their faces]. Have you not been watching this show for more then an episode or something?

I think you're thinking of Abe Lincoln with the whole "doesn't lie" thing. We're talking about a character who wears a disguise most of the time and sits directly across from the woman who loves him all day pretending to be someone else even when asked about it.

As he ran out on Tess he grabbed his jacket on the chair in the Isis office
Oh, thanks. I missed that part.:O

Hahahahaha, I'll keep that in mind.

I really haven't watched regularly since season 4; I've seen examples of him deceiving people, but never an outright lie. I've caught two of the episodes for this season, but I'm not entirely informed about a great deal of what is going on.

It just struck me as odd, because this is the exact opposite of what the DC and especially Warner Bros have always pitched him as. No biggie. I was just curious.

There's no disguise in Smallville. He doesn't even wear glasses. I'm still trying to figure out how the show will answer that. Will Lois lose her memory when Clark suddenly starts wearing glasses, or will she just find out and decide not to tell anyone?

Oh well: I did like some things about this episode and I hope the next ones are good also.

Loved the episode. Finally, Lane is showing she really is starting to fall for our boy. Can't wait to see next week when she says it aloud.

Maxima was eh, I guess done as well as she could be. The overall episode was interesting, and well, what I've come to expect from the new team. It's really starting to feel like Superman is right around the corner for Clark. I get giddy every time I see him in a suit with the DP badge on.

PS3 have done wonders with the whole Lois/Clark interactions and flirtatcious banter. Good episode, this season is still pleasing me with each week that passes.:woot:

Good eppy. More interesting, and enjoyable... improvement over last week.

So someone want to explain to me how Clark new how to send Maxima back? Did he get in from Chloe?

so who is X? It was red. Red-X... anyone ever watched Teen Titans?

It would seem X=Lex.... so Lex is around doing his thing, with no one noticing that hes alive? lol...

Yeah Chloe, told him just about everything on Maxima after seeing Clark's drawing of the symbol. She told him that her bracelet allows her to create portals.

So your saying X is [BLACKOUT]Robin[/BLACKOUT]?

you seemed like you were asking about Superman in general, so I explained it in terms of the general character not just the Smallville version.

okay, i don't have the ep dled yet but i did record it on tape, paused it, then did a little diddy on ms paint.

I've come to the conclusion that its either some kind of symbol on the crystal, or just the stand that the crystal has been placed on (which we can see since the crystal is transparent).

Yeah Im going with the stand that the crystal has been placed on. I just think its random to not notice these symbols in it, till the last scene.

Well tonights episode i thought was pretty good. The story was good and the acting i thought was very well. The actress who played maxima was pretty good. Her story was very good and i glad they left it open for her to return again. Though i was a bit disapointed we never got to see her home planet.

Also i wonder if clark's signal went to any other location in the universe besides maxima's world? I loved the hints to clark and lois's feelings for each other. Also i loved the return of the fever letter and thought it was great to see the actual letter again and its outcome with jimmy and clark knowing about it. Though i wonder how it got in the talon there though since lana was the last one with it. I liked that jimmy was worried about chloe's feelings for clark and what is going to happen now with it known to jimmy and clark. Also nice we now see clark wondering about other loves.

It was nice to see shelby at the farm and i loved the opening scene where he almost forgot to feed him. Also the way maxima got to earth was interesting some sorta of transporter braclet was neat, though i remember seeing this short trailer for the episode and it showed that it was a portal i guess they decided to go a different way and the trailers had different fx effects on it. Also the developlying story with brainiac and chloe is getting interesting and looks like brainiac knows more then just kryptonian history and all that. The crystal subplot was interesting and i wonder who really took the crystal, was/is the mysterious X LEX???? Hopefully we find out soon.

Man, the promo image they released a while back doesn't do the girl justice.

She was pretty hot. :wow:

Oh and when Lois caught Clark with Maxima, anyone else get a flashback to season 2 when Lana caught Red-K Clark with Chloe?

I liked how Lana and Lois' reactions are so different to similar situations.
