8.04 - Instinct - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

I'm really hoping its Lex but at the moment, based on all the rumors and speculation, there are no plans for Rosenbaum to return, as much as the producers want him.

Unless, they're keeping it a secret?

Well its likely lex and we will just be seeing stuff going on behind the scenes and not actually see lex. And if they dont get michael to actually return during the second half of the season this is likely as far as we are going to get with lex still in the show. But maybe if they can convince michael to return for one or two episodes during the end of the season we can actually get to see him. There is still alot of time left in the season and who knows what michael will be thinking later in the year.

Right now they are filming episode 9 abyss, then will be doing bloodline ep 8(shot out of order) and then bride, and then i believe they will be on break for a month or so for their mid season hiatus break for the actors/crew and then second half of the season filmed between jan-march. And maybe if michael doesnt get any film/tv roles before jan maybe he would return.

i liked the scene where clark see lois mexima's spell is broken and how clark goes after lois

this showes clarks developing feeling for lois

also maxima hinted lois and clark's feelings

and what's with jimmy and ALIEN CHICKS

1st kara and now maxima:huh::huh:

as for who is Mr x my money is on none other than LEX unless it is shelby

Lex makes more sense, who else would tell Tess she's not ready yet? TPTB are teasing us big time, but who knows if there's a twist behind the twist. :woot:

Yes they will probably play this email game if its lex for awhile if it still looks like they cant get michael to actually phsyically return to the show. But maybe if he does return we will learn more on what he is doing. Also folks over at ksite have said looks like shelby was played by a different dog in the episode then before. If its true i wonder what happened to original dog did he die/or just couldnt get him back?

read the line again "you are not ready for it yet"

it is not like someone is threatning her or warnning her

it is more like an advice or suggestion that she is too early for that

again it could be lex maybe tess and lex are working together in the whole thing and whole "lex is missing" is big plan by both myabe it was tess who rescued lex from Arctic

speaking of MAXIMA she was damn hot i mean cmmon if some aline gilr like her come to me and syas she wnats to mate with me i won't waste a second

And just like the guy in the beginning of the epi...you'd be dead in 30 seconds. :cwink:

Oh hey, what if "X" is Brainiac? What if later on they reveal that Chloe (taken over by Brainiac for a brief moment) stole the crystal herself? She just doesn't know it?

Decent episode tonight. Maxima was pretty good looking. Wonder who the frick "X" is.

Maxima hitting on Jimmy was forced. First of all why exactly did Jimmy need to drive all the way to Metropolis to have a drink? Aren't there any bars in Smallville? And second of all, didn't Maxima say she wanted a man worthy to rule by her side? How exactly would a guy like Jimmy fit the bill? I like him but he's a wimp. It's an all to convenient way to instill some more worthless melodrama in Jimmy and Chloe's relationship, along with Jimmy just happening to find that ancient letter.

thought the Red-X was reference to Jon jonzz... no

good idea but he's not the type to tease Tess. He would have given it to Clark straight away. I'm guessing Brainiac exerting his influence on Chloe...or Red-X (which is not going to happen despite how amazing it would be)

The other thing I noticed was them ignoring Dax-Ur, the creator of Brainiac in smallville. Hell they are just ignoring season 7 entirely. I also loved the scene with Shelby and Lois' scenes. They stole the show

I don't think X is lex, because I think Lex is in the crystal

just to add to the random "X" speculation

I did a search on a "DC" database for names with X

came cross these

XVIAR
Originally known only as Clark Kent's unseen neighbor..., the mysterious Mister Xavier was actually an alien named Xviar

or

XOTAR
One of the earliest villains faced by the Justice League of America, a time traveller who was responsible for the Justice League as a whole to meet and propose Superman for membership.

not that I'd think either of those to be good possibilities, or is this suppose to be any type of prediction, just thought they were the more interesting names that came up

Rather great episode actually.

The actress that played Maxima was super hot, and not bad in the role. It played pretty close their first meeting in the comics and also showed Maxima's disdain for normal humans.

I love how much they are referring to older continuity this season. First they bring back Lex's scientist from last season, and then bring back the letter from season one.

I thought it was adorable that Chloe asked Clark to give her away...it was just a cute scene.

It amazes me how much the feeling of the show has changed with the new management. Clark is acting so much like Superman it's not even funny.

Also when Maxima threw the car, that was kind of funny. The way it landed, Lois could have survived it, but you would think she would have been a little more banged up.

Oh well....very enjoyable episode though. Unfortunately no Maxima nudity shown, even though they owe us. I mean now we have had Clark and Oliver bare chested...why not barechested Maxima?!? :cmad:

Not much going on in the chest area to begin with.

Interesting...that would be a good way to lead into the Legion episode.

I thought the "Red-X" referred to the emailer posting a broken image link? *trombone*:D *trombone*

Agreed. And everyone knows how I feel about the Metropolis/Smallville commute!

That said, I really dug this eppy on first viewing. So far, it looks like "Toxic" is the only real misstep, and even that one wasn't that bad.

Loved Clark and Lois (of course). They really do give the show and interesting spark. Their chemistry is so different from Clark/Lana. I've said it before, Clark/Lana were a passionate, melodramatic teenage love. Clark/Lois is a more realistic, "grown up" romance. The way they talked to each other after the elevator scene was fantastic. You could see all the emotions bubbling underneath without the angst. These are adults with real feelings for each other even if they don't quite realize it yet.

Loved the return of Shelby! That scene was just cute all around. And I love how Clark can slack around the house until two minutes before he has to get to work and still get there early while everyone else is presumably waking up at the crack of dawn to trek it to Metropolis :whatever:. BTW, is there, like no rush hour into Smallville?

Loved the continuity. Lana's neutralized necklace (though why does Clark keep it in the can opener drawer?), Chloe's letter, Lex's crazy scientist, um, Shelby(!). All of this cool continuity made the Jor-El created Brainiac thing a little weird. Though Jor-El could have had a hand in his creation, I guess. Maybe he was an assistant of Dax-Ur's back in the day? It's plausible. Also liked the explanation that Jor-El is really just an AI computer program inside the crystal, though how does that explain the Kawatche Caves?

I agree with all, especially the new feeling of the show.

but Maxima... she was luke warm rather than hot (Tess is WAY HOTTER and WAY MORE APPEALING) I think that came with the total bimbo side of her. I personally would have made her a little more commanding and in charge(ala Princess Leia), rather than merely a superpowered cock hungry bimbo. But she got the part across, but I think it would have been better if...

otherwise, Smallville is really winning this season. All the single serving episodes have been absolutely solid (not ground breakingly awesome, but solid).

honestly, the show should have started to feel like this by atleast season4, if not 5. But Alas, it took 4 more years for maturity to kick in. Smallvillers can finally be truely proud of this show, but the producers should be ashamed of themselves for taking so long.

I enjoyed this episode alot. It was very entertaining. I loved how Lois was hasseling Clark about getting to work and he tells her he'll be "Flying" in. Then Clark almost forgets to feed Shelby but zooms in at the last minute to fill his bowl, cute scene. Now to get to the DC guest apperance. Maxima's character was fun and enjoyable. I thought she made a good entrance. At first I thought they could've picked a hotter actress to play Maxima when I saw her stills from the episode. But after actually seeing her on screen I take it back, she's a hottie. I loved how she had a very unique and alien look to her yet she still gave off a very sexy vibe. Another stellar casting job.

The Lois and Clark dynamic is getting very interesting. You can sense the attraction and tension between the two of them grow every time they share a scene. I wonder where they're going to take their relationship by the end of the season?

I like how they had Clark take intiative in finding Maxima by looking at the security footage when she was at the club with Jimmy. Clarks progression is coming along nicely.

The ending was awesome. We got good insight into why Maxima was looking for Clark. It was cool that she mentioned that as a little girl she heard stories about the strong men of Krypton and wanted to be with one when she grew up. But she was devastated to find out that Krypton and all it's inhabitants had been destroyed. It kind of ties her into Clark's strory more then some random alien chick searching the universe for a strong suitable mate. I also liked that they left it open for her to return in the future. Then to cap off the episode we find out that someone stole the crystal to the fortress from Tess. I'm very interested in finding out who "X" is and what this mystery persons motives are. Overall it was a very solid episode.
