8.04 - Instinct - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

honestly, the show should have started to feel like this by atleast season4, if not 5. But Alas, it took 4 more years for maturity to kick in. Smallvillers can finally be truely proud of this show, but the producers should be ashamed of themselves for taking so long.

I've always been truly proud of this show!:cwink:

The story next week seems silly and very "Saw" like (Sort of like Mercy was also) but what they have promised me is an episode that is fully focused on Lois and Clark, their relationship, and their investigation ability together.

It should be a classic Lois and Clark blast.

Mr Migu gives the episode two thumbs up. :p

Oh, and I have always been a proud watcher of the show also.

what I'm getting at, is that the show is finally tapping into it's potential. The good parts are really starting to outweigh the bad in so many ways.

like the girl playing Maxima, pretty as she was. She wasn't the world's greatest actress, that much is sure(her delivery was terrible IMO, she was literally the worst part of a great episode). However, the overall quality of the episode compensated for her short comings. Which is how it should be.

I'm just happy that this season, except for the premier, I haven't been dissappointed in the show at all. The show is truely great this year... when before it was just good. Then, you may have been proud,,, but now is a whole different situation, as the show has seemed to have improved by a factor of 10. Compare your pride in the show then, to the pride in the show you have now, now that it is improved/improving

so far, that's 3 solid episodes and 1 meh. That's pretty good given SV's track record.

I love the return of the HullaHoops? Anyone love that?

another thinng I really liked about the episode: Tess and Clark, seem to be heading in the same direction as Lex and Clark. However, what I like is that Tess doesn't seem outright evil (she'll definately turn out to be evil, but...). I really like how she actually confronted Clark about the crystal. It seemed like she was giving Clark an opportunity to be truthful without a known evil agenda behind it. And now, to me atleast, it seems like whatever trouble Clark and her are heading for, may be a result of Clark's mistrust, rather than her evil plotting. Anybody get that vibe? The vibe that Tess is a good person, who has been put incharge of an evil organization, and she will be corrupted by it, and the mistrust people project upon her, for her position as CEO of Lexcorp?

While I thought Maxima should be bigger....The actress who played her was Hot! ;)

My guess is Lex.

He would have the resources to steal the crystal, and obviously doesn't want to be found, or he would have appeared already.

I know what you mean. You were speaking only in terms of your "opinion". We've had our discussions about the show and I know where you stand. I was just giving you a hard time. :woot:

Last episdoe was a good just for the speech that Lois gave Clark at the begining of ths show telling him he need to stop looking for a woman who are all sweet and start looking for some wild cherry or something like that.

I was like: Right on LL, Clark need to get away from this puppy love kind of stuff and get someone with a little spark in her eyes, and Lois certainly have that.

just finished watching the episode. Pretty good. I loved all the Lois and Clark scenes especially the ending. It was nice to see Shelby again. The scene with Clark in the house was great. Can't wait for next week.

yea but he goes all "Lana who" then people say lightswitch

adter all 7 years of angst he suedenly moves ahead

it makes sense if clark still has feelinsg for lana he is not like batman or oliver who moves to their next lady like nothing hapenns

although clark is making an effor to move on but he won't completly terminate those feelings for her

Maxima hitting on Jimmy was forced. First of all why exactly did Jimmy need to drive all the way to Metropolis to have a drink? Aren't there any bars in Smallville? And second of all, didn't Maxima say she wanted a man worthy to rule by her side? How exactly would a guy like Jimmy fit the bill? I like him but he's a wimp. It's an all to convenient way to instill some more worthless melodrama in Jimmy and Chloe's relationship, along with Jimmy just happening to find that ancient letter.

she was horny alien gilr who was juts desparate to have sex

Man! That Maxima Babe was smonkin HOTTTTTT!!!!! Damn! i thought this episode was much better than last week. That "bring it B**** line from Lois was great. She was about to get her ass beat.

she would have probably dedea by that super punch

funny her last words would have been bring it b****

Wow. I enjoyed this episode QUITE a bit more than I expected to! I felt like it had a nice resolution, and nice teases at things to come. The structuring of this season's episodes feel... better than most past ones. The acting was a bit cringe-worthy at times, but, IMO, that's to be expected. The Maxima actress, though physically not as exotic as I would have preferred, did pretty darn well with what she was given, and her final scene with Clark was actually rather bittersweet.

The crystal intrigue (though the blue plastic look of it is cheesy and cheap) is awesome. I really enjoy Tess, and the fact that she revealed it to Clark surprised me. I appreciate the fact that I actually feel like this is building towards something, and isn't the usual former regime's trick of the last-minute tease with almost no immediate follow-up.

Tom Welling really is looking more mature, and more Superman-like, this season than ever before. It's amazing what a hairstyle change can do for the man.

I was really hooked by the disappearance of the crystal, and the email from "X." It appears that the Fortress is indeed on its way back, but not as easily, or not in a way, that anyone could have expected. I like this, a lot.

I thought Lois was supposed to have super powers or something. Is that a different episode?

am I imagining this or did one of the producers say Maxima would be back this season? I thought I recall either Slavkin or Peters saying that, and then last night Clark had a line about her saying "I'm sure thats not the last we'll see of her." Could've been a toss away line referencing her appearances down the line where she joins the JLA to "impress' Superman, etc. or it could've directly meant on the show...

I love all the Lois & Clark scenes in this episode . Especially Maxima telling Lois about the deep connection Clark has for Lois that broke Maxima's spell over Clark . Thank you TPTB for fully establishing beyond a shadow of any doubt about Lane & Kent legendary love for one another . :super:

This I completely agree with, and have been saying for a couple of years.

I still "love" my first love and it took me years to get to a point where I could move on, despite my feelings for her. This aspect of the show has never bothered me because it does happen.

Ultimately though, I met my wife and found tru happiness. Clark will do the same, even though he still will always have those feelings for Lana.

Funny thing is as I watched that scene, I was like, "I bet Kal loved this part."
