8.04 - Instinct - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

indeed, why? every other first line dc superhero is so doable, why a sidekick... turned solo hero?

Plus, prior to the death of his parents and becoming Bruce Wayne's ward/sidekick? Prior to the two things that make him even a little bit interesting? Pointless much?

The other thing about The Graysons is that it is a show that is to be designed for a young adult, nighttime soap opera crowd, whereas a younger Batman would not fit so well since he did not have much of a life as a kid. Plus this is the opportunity to give the Robin character more exposure and further separate the fact that he was a young boy doing dangerous things with a grown man (which is not too Kosher) I would give it a chance. It will acquire a following just like Buffy and Smallville did.

I'm always around, but there isn't much going on in the non-spoiler threads so I'm not posting as much as I used to.

Part of me misses it, but I feel it's the right thing for me so I have to stay strong.

Did you review this episode yet??:woot:

I just finished the previous one! So, no...

I was out of town last weekend and didn't even open my laptop for three days.

That's a long time to not use a computer, I was going nuts!

:(

But, I just sent off my review to Craig and I'll be able to do some work on this review this weekend.

Awesome news, I'll be sure to check out this one, and hopefully soon for this weeks episode. Don't be a stranger though.:woot::cwink:

The scene in the elevator between Clark & Maxima in this episode kinda reminded me of two moments with Lane & Kent in Daily Planet elevator making out .

First moment in the comics

The second moment is with Teri & Dean from Lois & Clark : The New Adventures Of Superman

Because Batman sells, even when there's no actual Batman. :)

I don't think Robin needs that much more exposure, but I think since back in the 40's when Robin was born so the younger readers could have somebody to identify with... that reasoning might have survived to this day. Robin was created specifically for that reason. That must've been taken into consideration. Also it's a show about a guy who's a circus athlete who may or may not deal with crime. That is in itself pretty exciting, espcially if it's going to be a travelling circus, going from town to town across the DC universe. We could be seeing all kinds of heroes and villains at the start of their career. Hell, after a while we might even see the begining of the Titans!

Somehow they will need to have her turn over a new leaf because she is more than likely wanted for multiple murders now. In the comics she beat that rap buy using her royal status as diplomatic immunity.

And I don't imagine this horny ho of the planet I-have-a-rack EVER returning to Smallville. Please, she's little more than those girls from the pageant show with Kara. Maxima from the comics had an ego the size of Mogo and used violence to make a point but I don't think she went around killing people one by one like this girl. And please, a killer kiss? Shouldn't we have saved that for Poison Ivy? :(

"X" = Lana.

Just a hunch, but it's practically the show's M.O.

Michael Ausiello of EW.com says that 'Smallville' fans have not seen...or at least not heard...the last of Michael Rosenbaum's Lex Luthor character. Writes Ausiello:

...here's that 'Smallville' scoop you demanded: Although there are no firm plans for Michael Rosenbaum to return as Lex this season, if producers have their way, you'll likely be hearing him long before seeing him.

...I think this pretty much confirms that "X" is none other than...LEX!!!

what was the message again? You're not ready yet? why isnt she ready?

"You are not ready yet - X"

It's a mysterious message.... It might be from Lex, I think I'd buy that more than from Lana.

According to Wikipedia, he was in the episode Jinx (S 4.07) as a character named Mikhail Mxyzptlk (played by Trent Ford). He is supposedly still in secret lab 33.1 to this day waiting to return.

I like the idea of Lana sending that message but I still believe it's from Lex.

^^^ please i want lana to return as any other normal girl

they don't have to make her delusional pyshcotic vengeancefull woman

and how does she know about tess, crystal, FOS etc unless she was stalking clark and others after she left that will make her more weired if she learned anything from Veritas that should be should stay away from clark's buisness

she already played that role in seseaon 7 when she kidnaps lionel and pays someone to torture him

not to mentione this will make clark all guilty because of him lana is doing all this

i want lana of seaon one to three not lana of seaon six and seven

That is in itself pretty exciting, [especially] if it's going to be a [traveling] circus, going from town to town across the DC universe. Sidekicks are out nowadays, but Robin is still an Icon. Even though his origins were to appeal to younger readers (kids - they were the largest market for comics more than 50 years ago), there is always the opportunity to re-image the character for a new market (just like Clark Kent/Superboy and Smallville). This is what was taken into consideration (along with the fact that another Batman family show, Birds of Prey initially had over 7 million viewers), else they wouldn't have proposed the show. I agree with the traveling circus concept being a platform for seeing other characters in the DC universe as well only that if they decide to form the Titans, the circus would have to stay in one place.

"I came when I saw your Kryptonian beacon" ...that may be the single most double entendre-filled sentence in the history of Smallville..... :)

"so far she's only been after men, I wonder why she'd be after you" LMAO!

Two of the best lines in a long time :->

...didn't Maxima say she wanted a man worthy to rule by her side? How exactly would a guy like Jimmy fit the bill?

She commented afterward that she was sorry Jimmy wasn't the one, because she thought he was "sweet". Obviously she's looking for more than just a stud.

Oh hey, what if "X" is Brainiac? What if later on they reveal that Chloe (taken over by Brainiac for a brief moment) stole the crystal herself? She just doesn't know it?
"X" = Lana.

Any of these would work, as would Lex. If it's Lana, then we now have a vengeful Lana. If it's Mxy, that'll be fun. If it's Brainiac, that'd be predictable within continuity.

Oh god i hope its not Lana i hate when shes all trying to be lex an ms.badass its so annoying I hope they make it leX lol

Maybe it's Chloe's reprogramming practicing self-preservation. The X, I mean. She didn't exactly seem thrilled when Clark told her that there might be a cure for her so maybe she snatched the crystal.

I guess it was an okayish episode. I mean, aside from miss Max (and her ridiculous outfit), it kinda made up for a lot to have Lois acknowledge her interested on Clark - which of course will be handled like every single damned relationship thing concerning Clark. He'll be all "Huh?"

I find it somewhat pointless to think of the episodes in terms of good and bad anymore.

And Dick did?
"I'm an acrobat-I'm an orphan-I'm adopted-I'm Robin." That's pretty much his story.
