I guess it's never too early. :o

Oscars 2015: Early Best Picture Predictions

BIG EYES - THE WEINSTEIN CO., FALL
A Tim Burton-directed movie never has been nominated for best picture, but that could change with this drama about painter Walter Keane (Christoph Waltz) and wife Margaret (Amy Adams). Adams' performance is said to be a standout.

INHERENT VICE - WARNER BROS., TBD
Paul Thomas Anderson reteams with his The Master star Joaquin Phoenix for a 1970s-set detective drama based on a Thomas Pynchon book. Will it be too dark and artsy or just perfect for the Academy's nostalgic voters?

INTO THE WOODS - DISNEY, DEC. 25
Chicago director Rob Marshall returns with an all-star adaptation of the Tony-winning Broadway musical with Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Anna Kendrick, Emily Blunt and Chris Pine and songs by Stephen Sondheim.

THE IMITATION GAME - THE WEINSTEIN CO., TBD
There's a reason Harvey Weinstein plunked down $7 million for this World War II drama at Berlin. Benedict Cumberbatch plays Alan Turing, the famed cryptographer who helped crack the Nazi's Enigma Code before being prosecuted for homosexuality. He later died from cyanide poisoning -- probably suicide.

GET ON UP - UNIVERSAL, AUG. 1
The Help director Tate Taylor's follow-up is a James Brown biopic starring 42's Chadwick Boseman. Universal is betting the late-summer release date that helped Help and The Butler (and extra music cred from producer Mick Jagger) will propel this film through awards season.

GONE GIRL - 20TH CENTURY FOX, OCT. 3
Fox is betting that the same early October weekend that launched Gravity in 2013 and David Fincher's The Social Network in 2010 can work box-office and awards magic on Fincher's take on the smash Gillian Flynn novel starring Ben Affleck.

THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL - FOX SEARCHLIGHT, MARCH 7
Critics loved this Wes Anderson fantasy in Berlin -- can it score the best picture nom that eluded his last film, Moonrise Kingdom? The March release date will require voters to have long memories.

UNBROKEN - UNIVERSAL, DEC. 25
Director Angelina Jolie tackles Louis Zamperini, the Olympic runner taken prisoner by Japanese forces during WWII. It's based on the best-selling Laura Hillenbrand book and written by the Coen brothers, adding gravitas.

The Lego Movie needs to win Best Animated Film. There's no Pixar movie this year, the only major competition it will have will be How To Train Your Dragon 2, I think. I wonder if it could have beaten Frozen had it been released just a few months earlier? :hmm

If that happened, the Lego Movie would get buried, because the academy didn't want people realizing that it's better than Gravity. :o

Interesting, and a couple of films I haven't heard of that sound intrguing. Based on very early predictions, and allowing for the possibility of films being unexpected disasters, some of my early projections include:

BEST PICTURE
Gone Girl
Inherent Vice
Interstellar
Big Eyes
Imitation Game
Into the Woods

BEST DIRECTOR
Christopher Nolan
Paul Thomas Anderson
David Fincher
Tim Burton

BEST ACTOR
Joaquim Phoenix
Ben Affleck
Christoph Waltz
Benedict Cumberbatch

BEST ACTRESS
Rosamund Pike
Amy Adams

Best Picture: Godzilla

Best Actor: Godzilla

Best Actress nomination too. :funny:

I don't care if Amy Adams is nominated again she's my pick don't care if the rest of the nominees put in performances of the decade. :funny:

Do you guys think Fury starring Brad Pitt has a BP chance?

Very early predictions:
Steve Carrell will win Best Lead Actor for Foxcatcher (other nominees - Waltz, Phoenix, O'Connell, Pitt).
Amy Adams will win Best Lead Actress for Big Eyes (other nominees - Pike, Chastain, Williams, Witherspoon).
Emily Blunt will get a Supporting Actress nod for Into The Woods.
Logan Lerman will get a Supporting Actor nod for Fury.
Tim Burton will get a Director nod for Big Eyes.
Angelina Jolie will get a Director nod for Unbroken.
Gone Girl will not be an awards player except for Pike.

I was gonna mention Foxcatcher as a contender for a few categories, but it depends how much it's delayed by. If it comes out in the next couple of months, it'll probably be too early to make an impression on voters next year.

Best Picture: Godzilla or The Lego Movie
Best Actor: Godzilla
Best Supporting Actor: Bryan Cranston
Best Visual Effects: Godzilla
Best Director: Christopher Nolan
Best Animated Movie: The Lego Movie

:hehe:

BIG EYES -

Amy Adams is nominated for a Oscar. Probably will win

INHERENT VICE

Joaquin Phoenix is nominated but probably won't win.

INTO THE WOODS -

Nominated for best song but probably won't win

THE IMITATION GAME

First Oscar nomination for Benedict Cumberbatch. Probably won't win.

GET ON UP

Chadwick Boseman is nominated but probably won't win

GONE GIRL

Hard to tell.

THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL

Nominated just to fill space *Cough* Philomena *Cough*

UNBROKEN

First Best director nomination for Jolie

I need Shia to win a damn Oscar though! Before Leo, even! Riots. Riots everywhere. :ninja:

An Oscar nomination for Chadwick Boseman would be nice to see.

I'm skeptical on this (because of the plot) but some are predicting Inarritu's Birdman as a possible vehicle for a Lead Actor nod for Michael Keaton.

I'd love to see Keaton win one day, or even get a nomination at least. Such an underrated talent, and I'm glad he's seems to be resurfacing.

Hopefully Get on Up will be the return of Octavia Spencer to the awards season. She was fantastic in Fruitvale Station, but I think the film's early release (during the middle of Summer Blockbuster Season in June) prevented that from happening.

The problem with Get on Up will be the release date. It comes out the same week as the Guardians of the Galaxy and week later comes Ninja Turtles.

Best Actor - Andrew Garifled

Best Actress - Emma Stone

Best Supporting Actor - Jamiee Foxx

Best Supporting Actress - Sally Field

Best Director - Marc Webb.

According to the Spidey forums.
