The Indie Spirit noms are kind of whack. No Florence for Midsommar. No Jojo Rabbit?. There could've been more Last Black Man in San Francisco or Them That Follow. Wayyyy too much Lighthouse and Husters (IMO anyways) and it sucks that Marriage Story got the cast award because it makes Driver ineligible for best actor.

That being said, I'm happy Luce got more love. I was expecting Waves to be in there more than that one.

Not enough Lighthouse. Where are those Best Picture and Best Screenplay noms.

I actually wanna see Sandler get an Oscar nod, if only because this will be the only time he'll really have deserved one.

I'm looking forward to Uncut Gems. I hope they don't ignore the younger actors in the Best Actor category like they do so much. Roman Griffin Davis was so good in Jojo Rabbit as was Kelvin Harrison Jr in Luce (and probably Waves too, but I haven't seen it yet)

I hope that Adam Driver and Eddie Murphy are locks. Maybe Adam Sandler too. I assume De Niro or Pacino will take spots for the Irishman but I can still hope.

AFI Awards Film 2019 Top 10: ‘The Irishman’, ‘Richard Jewell’ Among Honorees – Deadline

Netflix’s Martin Scorsese mob drama The Irishman, which has already picked up Best Picture wins from critics groups, is one of 10 films named to the American Film Institute’s AFI Motion Pictures of the Year list.

The diverse group for 2019 includes everything from indies like Lulu Wang’s A24 pic The Farewell to a comic book tentpole in Warner Bros’ Joker (see the full list below).

Netflix was one of three studios to place two titles on the organization’s annual list, now in its 20th year. The streamer also placed Marriage Story on the list, while Warner Bros had Joker and Clint Eastwood’s Richard Jewell. Sony had Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Greta Gerwig’s Little Women.

AFI also recognized Bong Joon Ho’s Sony Classics pic Parasite with an AFI Special Award, designated for a work of excellence outside the Institute’s criteria for American film and television.

All honorees will gather January 3 at the AFI Awards’ private luncheon in Los Angeles.

Here’s this year’s film winners:

AFI Motion Pictures of the Year

1917
Universal

THE FAREWELL
A24

ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD

Disappointed that Ford v Ferrari missed the list. It’s such an AFI type of film.

Critics Choice Awards are pointless. They're so concerned with being an accurate Oscar predictor that they just nominate everybody.
