92nd Annual Academy Awards

Jim Carrey would have been the perfect Oscars host. He always kills when he presents on any awards show, even still.

Not sure why that never happened. It's not too late!

Yeah, I remember back when I used to watch late night talk shows (back in Carrey's heyday) and anytime he was on, I would ALWAYS watch because he was just so damned funny. I'm not sure about this Sonic the Hedgehog movie but I hope it turns out good mostly for his sake.

Crazy how the hosts for next year's Golden Globes have been announced a year in advance and the Oscars are host-free again. I get why they were without a host last year after the whole Kevin Hart debacle but something is missed from the ceremony if there isn't a host(s), no matter how good or bad of a job they do at it.

Glasgow tied for original song! I will scream if that doesn't have an Oscar nomination tomorrow. Wild Rose was so good.

The Critics Choice awarded Best Editing to... 1917! :lmao:

Which means she'll probably get at least one. Tarantino's year finally I feel.

I shouldn't be surprised but it's really weird seeing The Irishman in amongst the VFX line up that includes Avengers and Star Wars, lol.

I lost my Body too.

Great year for 2D animation. Was certain Frozen 2 would have made it, but no-one seems to like that film nearly as much as the last one.

Does anyone want to see Joker win Best Picture just to see how bat-sh** crazy the Film Twitter meltdown would be?

Just the way The Joker would want it.

I don't care much for the film personally, but yes I would enjoy seeing film twitter lose its collective ****.

If Natalie Portman or Emma Stone presents Best Director, you know at least one of them will have another 'Here are the all-male nominee' takes ready in their pockets.

Outside of Greta Gerwig which woman was ever likely to sneak in?

I don't think it will win, but right now I would like Jojo Rabbit to win Best Picture. Seen 7 of the 9. Have yet to see Parasite and. Little Women

I haven't seen 1917 yet, but I am really loving all the recognition that The Irishman, Ford V Ferrari, Jojo Rabbit, Joker, Marriage Story, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Parasite are getting. Most of those are some of my favorite films of last year. I just wish Knives Out and The Lighthouse got more love though, especially The Lighthouse since that is still my favorite film of the year.

Honestly, I know people are crowing about Joker becoming the most nominated comic book movie, but man, I cannot for the life of me come around to see it as such. It's just too far removed IMO from the genre to really be worthy of that title. TDK straddle the line between superhero and drama. This has a thin laying of comic book influence, whilst it's main coating is well and truly removed from the origins it comes from. To me anyway, it's doesn't really deserve a place to sit along other films in the genre. It's a loose influence to say the least. My opinion on the film itself probably helps to sway my thinking though.
