A gamer's worst nightmare - Cancelled Video Games

Hmm...what would be worse...Sonic being canned after sonic 3 and knuckles, or having to suffer disappointment after embarrassing disappoint for fifteen years, hoping sega might redeem themselves one day.

I challenge the claim that canceled video games are a gamers worst nightmare.

great question

so True Crime: Hong Kong has been cancelled along with Guitar Hero

sucks that True Crime got cancelled

i didn't play the last one, but the first way that came like back in 2003 was pretty fun.

Same here, i only played Streets of LA.
Bottom line is, Activision is a crappy publisher, not as bad as Koei (but then again, no one is), but is very bad.
All they have to show for is Call of Duty and to ride on Blizzard´s sucess, that´s it.
The rest is licenses Ip: Transformers, Spider-Man, X-Men, Nascar and James Bond.
Oh yeah, and their own Prototype, Spyro and Crash Bandicoot
And i really like their justification of cancelling the game...it wasn´t very good.
But they released Apache: Air Assault last year and Jurassic: The Hunted in 2009, which were really bad games, at least True Crime is a recognizable name.

What do they have for the upcoming years?
Call of Duty (duh), Prototype II (2012), X-Men: Destiny (2011) and Transformers: War for Cybertron II (2012 - hasbro said they were working on a sequel to War for Cybertron), Nascar 2011.
Sure, there might be a new Spider-Man game to be announced this year, a new James Bond (there are rumors) and maybe, just maybe, a new Crash Bandicoot and Spyro (well, they kept the Ips after closing Sierra so...).
I bet Gun II will be announced this year, it´s common sense as westerns are big again after Red Dead Redemption and True Grit being nominated for Best Picture

But True Crime could very well be Activision´s GTA.
GTA is about crime, Saints Row is about crime, True Crime would be diferent as it would be about the law.
Like i said, Activision sucks

True Crime could have been great had Activision went through with it. TCNYC wasn't that good, but the first one was pretty good at the time. I had a feeling watching some of the videos for Hong Kong that it was shaping up to offer a slightly different experience as the previous games. At this rate, the only thing Activision is gonna do is run Call of Duty into the ground, along with X-Men and Spider-Man.

Well, i was right, Activision just announced a new Spyro game....and it looks like crap

The megapublisher today announced Skylanders Spyro's Adventures. From Novato, California-based developer Toys for Bob, the game will debut for consoles, PC, and handheld devices during fall 2011. The title will cast players as the "Portal Master," a character who controls the game's dozens of cast members.

The game boasts connectivity with real-world toys based on the Spyro universe. In Spyro's Adventures, players will be able to place all of the line's 31 action figures--who have distinct special abilities--on a "portal" and have characters appear in game.
WTF?
You even don´t control Spyro, but a character called Portal Master....is a Dungeon Keeper type of deal.
And connectivity with real-world toys??
Well, it´s a Kinect / Move game, i don´t see it any other way

A new Crash Bandicoot will be announced sooner or later, this year i´m sure, maybe even sooner than we think

man, Activision has been cancelling games and franchises left and right

maybe then they'll stop making pretty bland X-Men and Spiderman games. it would be cool if Capcom got the rights to make those games.

everyone has been canceling games, look at all the studios that have closed or been bought out in the past 2 years

I read just now that a version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters was planned for Saturn but scrapped. I always suspected one was in the works, as each cover of the 3 existing versions had a different turtle, so a fourth one must have been planned if it was part of a "theme". Says where I read it it was even on magazines? Anyone heard of it?

The cancelled "The Dark Knight Video Game"

The cancelled "The Dark Knight Video Game"

I bought Batman:AA and I don't even really play video games and I am still pissed about this.

The daredevil game looked good. I hope they do another film akin to what aronofsky is doing with The Wolverine.

Well, there were rumors of a sequel planned, but I wish there had been one for "XIII." That was a terrific game: great voice acting, intriguing plot, and a great look. However, I was disappointed about "The Dark Knight" game: its precursor was pretty good, and I was looking forward to it, especially with the alleged campaign to play as the Joker.

Yeah. I was a thousand times more pleased with Arkham Asylum than I ever would have been with The Dark Knight game.

No thanks. Movie tie-ins (with very rare exceptions) are universally awful.

there was a game with superheroes that's going to be released that i don't remember the name of, can anybody help me?

What about that cancelled Heroes game{you know, back when the show was good}?
