A Live Action Batman Beyond movie is it a good idea?

I can see someone like Anthony Hopkins playing older Bruce in the movie cause he was good as the old Zorro and in other movies he is good characters. They need someone to play old Barbara so i see someone like Rosemarry Harris from Spiderman and someone fresh as Terry who lives not in the city but comes from a broken home, a father who doesnt care about him, a troublemaker from juvi hall who somehow meets Bruce maybe following him to his house after stealing his wallet pickpocketing him for a chance to make some creds selling things he can take from Wayne Manor to the Jokerz. Blight should be the villain and another side villain and ace the dog in this of course not CGI a real dog. Give it the same feel of a darker world and sci fi like total recall meets I robot style enough tech not too much. The others in the film need to be Chelsea, Maxine, Dana Tan as his girlfriend, Warren McGinnis, Nelson Nash, and a appearance by the villain Spellbinder as the psychologist that helps terry but is a ruthless villain. The movie needs to start with Bruce in the suit in the future suffering from heart disease in a fight and getting beaten when he actually uses a gun and shoots a criminal dead. With this, he tears off the mask and sneaks out. At home, he is covering everything in the batcave with sheets and shuts the power down and this leads into the new Batman story. On the table in the batcave there should be new suit pieces and prototypes he is working on scattered, the cave a wreck and he should have a scene where he visits his parents grave where we see Alfreds grave aside them. We also need to know what happened in the past how the joker died and how Bruce became that way.

I would rather see a Batman Beyond movie live action that sit through another getting to be boring regular batman movie. I like Bruce but enough is enough we need something new this time around.

If it were a planned trilogy, I'd have Derek Powers/Blight as the main villain behind everything for the entire trilogy, resolving the story with him in the third film.

Serving as the other villains under Powers, I think Inque and Shriek would work well. Although I think Shriek's character would need some reworking.

Any villains besides Inque or Blight, I think would need to be reworked a little.

I liked the idea of Big Time in the TV show as a sort of Terry's equivalent of Harvey Dent/Two-Face, but I wasn't a fan of how the character's concept was executed.

Never was a big fan of Spellbinder, but I did like the episode Eye Witness. Mostly because of the pitting of Barbara against Batman.

Im not sure im into a live-action straight up adaptation of Batman Beyond. At least not yet. Im not into direct adaptations anyway but maybe it can work in the distant future.

For now im looking forward to the reboot if it's done like Arkham City (tone wise), and mixed with Justice League. It's something that hasn't been done before and it's a good idea after Nolans trilogy. It's the right time for it.

If i were to do something Beyond esque, like the suit and tone, it would be a continuation of the John Blake story. Just hints of beyond but with different characters, etc.

But i guess the closest thing we'll get WILL be a movie that's just like the tv series. Brought to life.

Answer: Y E S

But not for a while please.

Yes, i would love to see the Batman franchise injected with some new life! Maybe something DC can fixate on that will put them ahead of Marvel.

Justice League Beyond anyone? You could have Terry and Bruce rounding up Supes, WW & GL to combat some greater threat. This would be after a BB solo movie of course. Just a thought. Trying to think outside the box.

what if they connected the BB future with whatever current stuff they got going on, that is different from marvel. though im not sure they need to be "different", just tell the stories. the characters are different enough.

if we talking old batmans to be old bruce waynes, then instead of using clooney or keaton get adam west he is old enough.

I think Clint Eastwood would be perfect for Bruce Wayne of Batman Beyond.

i already said why i don't like eastwood for old bruce on the previous page. in short he is just too skinny and never had the build even in his prime for batman.

I'd rather have Harrison Ford than Eastman as an old Bruce Wayne.

a couple of years ago clint would have been perfect. he's old as **** now.

i like kevin conroy for the part. :jedi

Clint would have been great in the 90s or even 10 years ago but hes just too old. Another thing i agree with is Clint is not the best choice because you should think of the actor and how he would be Bruce Wayne years ago. And he just never had the Bruce Wayne element to him.

Once Kurt Russell or Jon Hamm or Christian Bale get to be in their 60s or 70s it would be fitting to do a Batman Beyond with one of them. As of right now i cant think of anybody.

And yes, i did say Kurt Russell lol.

I suspect they'd do it with makeup. Get somebody younger and just have them play old Bruce. Because even old he still kinda had that Batman physique.

Clint is in his 80s. I always figured Old Bruce on the show was in his early 80s.

my point about the age was more in reference to him actually doing it and not the character. i don't think he'd do it now.

Yeah, I'm not sure he would do it either. Maybe if was asked to direct the movie, he would consider being old Bruce.

I always liked Clint for the role because he has this great old mentor vibe to him, seeing him in movies like Gran Torino and Million Dollar Baby. Plus he looks like he has seen and been through a lot, and as an old man he still has a badass feel to him.

I definitely think they should go Beyond next and have their young man Bruce Batman in Justice League.

Maybe Eastwood wouldn't do it, but that's still who I would try to get.

Me too. I think I remember him talking about a Batman role back when Batman Begins was rolling around and he said no. That would still be pretty cool though.

Harrison Ford would be great.

The only way it would work is if they made sure to set it up the way the original show was set up--you'd have to have that 10 minutes at the beginning with Bruce Wayne's last night out before giving up the mask, then the skip forward 20 years. Otherwise people are going to be confused about whether this is set in the Nolanverse continuity.

Another thing you have to avoid is people comparing it to Spider-Man. The 17 year-old hero, the futuristic setting with the super science, the fantastic villains with super powers--the general public might see it as some kind of attempt to capture the Spider-Man zeitgeist even though it's quite different (it wouldn't help that The Amazing Spider-Man was so...average). It would probably have to have a darker or more serious tone, which might not be the best way to go with it...

In any case, I'd love to see it happening but people are so used to Batman being this very dark film series, both tonally and visually, that to get them interested in a futuristic, brighter setting might be difficult.

EDIT: Now, if the Batman reboot is a little more comic-booky than the Nolan films have been (at least in allowing more supernatural villains such as Clayface, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, etc. into the films), and they're done well and the public accepts them, then that might be the time to try and turn Batman Beyond into a live-action movie.

Now, as for the villain, I think the arc of the first two episodes with Derek Powers makes the most sense. Maybe one of the other villains as an underling to establish the futuristic tone, so I guess Shriek should be in it (to see that silent scene in the film would be pretty amazing). By the end Shriek should be deaf, move on to stopping Derek Powers from selling the chemical. For two hours I think it would be fine to have both that arc and the first Shriek episode, more than enough time to cover all that.
