Once Upon a Time Casting Mystery: Lost's Rebecca Mader to Play Which Iconic Villainess?

Someone wicked this way comes….
On the heels of filling the role of Rapunzel, ABC’s Once Upon a Time has cast Lost alum Rebecca Mader as an iconic fairy tale villain, E! Online reports.

In teasing this fall’s final episodes and the second half of Season 3, Once cocreator Eddy Kitsis told TVLine that the show’s springtime arc will feature “a new villain that we are very excited about, that we may reveal at the end of Episode 11… maybe not.”

And though I thought Kitsis was being cheeky/dodgy with that timeframe for the intro, it turns out that Mader’s meanie will be revealed during a midseason promo airing after the Dec. 15 fall finale.

Still, no details on who the British headturner is playing are being divulged. But that’s what Al Gore made comments sections for. So grab your tinfoil sorcerer’s apprentice hat and speculate!

I guess Cruella too. I remember someone posted on here a quote a few months back that they eventually wanted to do Rapunzel, Cruella, and I forget the third name.

I also think she could be Mother Gothel. I mean, they did just cast Rapunzel and now we're getting a new recurring villain.

She's one of the best female villians of all time, and not just in recent Disney history. This one even has her own theme music! Also, we can tell you that she is being brought in because now that Rumple and Regina have made peace, the writers felt they needed a new Big Bad and Mader's character will definitely be at odds with Regina. We will hopefully have your very first look at Mader's character (the new villain) on the night of Dec. 15 on E! Online, right after the episode of Once Upon a Time ends, so make sure you check back!

Yep, in the original Wizard of Oz the Wicked Witch did have her own little tune whenever she showed up.

Her fued with Snow was tiring, so I'm happy she'll be getting a new rival, not only one that keeps Regina on her toes, but generates some good lines a la Regina vs. Emma season 1.

So Cruella...

Not this quote certainly rules out Cruella... they say "even before disney" Cruella yes, was featured in a children's novel before disney.. but the character really wasn't anything UNTIL disney.

The Wicked Witch has her own theme music, predates disney's take on her, is one of the most recognized female villains of all time, AND is actually a villain who could hold her own against Rumple and Regina... (unless both were de-powered, Cruella is small potatoes against them)

a song, does not have to be lyrical... The Wicked Witch has both a lyrical song (in her sister) as well as a incredibly timeless and famous score

When you think about it, what reason would there be to bring in Cruella? She comes to Storybrooke, a place surrounded by magic, just to come in and take Jiminy Cricket's dog?

I still think its Cruella, but lets say they decide to use Morgan Le Fey, they can pretty much set up what season 4 will be about. You've already had Lancelot show up with mentions of Merlin/King Arthur/Excalibur this year you can easily have the team spend most of that season in Camelot...

There is one Villian used in a Disney movie we could be forgetting about. Go Back to Sword in the Stone. She also had her own theme in that movie and she wad the Magnificent Mad madam mim. I guess we can only wait before we find out clearly Cruella, Mim Wicked Witch of the West could be any of them or it could be somebody else we are not thinking about.

And if she's going after Regina, I bet Regina probably has ruby slippers hidden somewhere, or she dropped a house an her sister!
