ABC's Once Upon a Time - Part 5

To all the people 'whining' about Once's creators trying to cash in on Frozen's popularity in a bid to drum up ratings or pandering to fans of the movie by bringing in their own 'Elsa-ified' version of the Snow Queen character, there have been very few stories they've done that haven't been meticulously planned out, which is why I feel confident in saying that they likely knew they were bringing in the Snow Queen character months before Frozen took the world by storm, although I do think it likely that the film did influence the character's physical appearance just as has been the case with many other aspects of the show and its take on various characters.

Regarding Marian's resurrection and the wrench it throws into the Robin/Regina story, there was a distinct difference between the way Regina acted when she angrily told Emma that she was just like Snow and the way she would have acted even at the beginning of the season. Yes, she's upset and angry, but it's not a step back for her at all because she's in a much different place now than she was.

Marian's resurrection is an obstacle, but it's not a slap in the face to Regina/Robin fans any more than the Mary Margaret/Kathryn/David story was a slap in the face to Snow/Charming fans.

The immediate reaction, I think, was no big deal. She was stunned/hurting. How the writers have her handle it next season, though, is important. When push comes to shove, Emma did nothing wrong, and, in reality, saved the life of a woman that Regina (allegedly) had executed.

Regina's going to have to put on her big girl pants, accept that and get over it.

Can the writers at this point ever make us really believe that Regina has moved on from being the brittle, hurt woman we know and love though? At this point would her actually being able to move on from the various slings and arrows of life feel genuine to us? It's what I was hoping the relationship with Robin and his child would do for her, but they keep putting Regina on a path that causes her to relapse to often.

Ha!! As fab as those pants most likely are... She never seems to be able to wear them for very long. :word:

Hard to say. Such is the over-the-top melodrama of this show.

I mean, there's plenty of room for messes next year, evil aside. We know Rumple and Belle are heading for troubles, given the secret he's keeping... and there's no way Hook and Emma are going to be all sunshine, either.

Yeah, if Regina sees this as an opportunity to go off the rails again, she needs to be slapped down to reality. No one has wronged her here. She is reaping the rewards of her own behavior. And she has to ****ing get over it.

Also, how damn great did Jennifer Morrison look in her FTL attire? Seriously, before she changed back, when she was in that white get-up, she looked more Aurora than Aurora has.

I hear ya. Nature of the beast and all... I actually would like to see if they could convince me that Regina's reaction to Emma bringing Marian back was a momentary flash of her old self. It would show some grace on her part if she willingly bowed out from being with Robin and just left on amicable terms. No threats, no drama. Just Regina accepting the luck of the draw.

We know that's not going to happen though. :woot:

As for fancasting Elsa (and God help you, Primal Slayer, if you disagree, I will go APE****), I have three words:

Sarah.

Michelle.

Gellar.

Could we get some confirmation on the first 3 season's being less than a year in length? I just assumed that by now the show had caught up to more or less real time.

Nope.

Even with the 1-year time jump, we're only into 2013 internally with the show.

We know this for several reasons:
* The Pilot's events took place in late October of 2011 (as revealed in Selfless, Brave, and True [2x18])
* The characters continued to reference Regina having cast the Curse 28 years earlier throughout all of Seasons 1 and 2
* The events of Season 3a lasted a week at most

Loved Once tonight! I was a little bit like "really?!" with the Elsa tease but I got to admit it is exciting! I really hope the writers don't turn Regina evil AGAIN. Nothing happened the way I thought it would, I figured there would be a timeline change and that is what the next season would be about but oh well.

I would be totally down with that.

Crazy Ones is not coming back? Welp... Let's get a fire sale going and get SMG, Williams, Wolk and the rest on OUaT.

I'm pretty sure the unidentified actress we saw playing Elsa from behind is going to end up with the role full-time.

^ I'm serious. She may have gone uncredited, but I fully expect that we'll be getting an announcement on/info about her soon.

If they fully intended to use the girl that appeared at the end of this episode in the role next season, they would've shown her face/had her speak dialogue.

It was clearly a stand-in.

I think they will get a fairly well known tv actress for the part. There is a reason why they didn't show Elsas face.

Yes, Elizabeth Mitchell needs a job now that Revolution has been cancelled.:o

They could go with any female actress in their 30's or possibly early 40's & it work.

When they showed the barn scene and the way it played out it reminded me of Smallville, I was like is Brainiac coming out.

It would be funny if they addressed the speculation of Elsas parents boat being the one seen in TLM. I hope the writers use this to finally branch out some when it comes to FTL, the place is filled with royalty around every tree branch, let us visit these other kingdoms instead of the same road that leads to Snow/Reginas place.

A stand-in they created an official hashtag promo image for? I can't see that happening.

They already have their Snow Queen actress; they just didn't identify her.
